  1. Tonight is a special moment that anyone who is a Father can appreciate. I'm taking my 5-year-old son to his first Jets game, enjoying the luxury of the Jets being in town and a generous neighbor who gave me his tickets 19 rows off the field. Sure it's preseason, week 1 of preseason no less, but my son doesn't know that and I don't care. Plenty of you out there probably remember your son or daughter's first game to this day and I"m looking forward to creating that memory with a little Fitzmagic tonight. Next stop after this with my son will be coming to NJ for a home game......something I'm quite overdue for as well. Pray the Lions fans are on their best behavior.

  7. I'm shocked. I am shocked that the teammates of a starting NFL quarterback would not rally behind him when a reserve linebacker knocks him out in the locker room. Shocked by the silence that it was tacitly approved. Shocked that the guy who gets kicked off airplanes, sends dic-pics, curses out fans, misses meetings, and shoves old men would get pounded in the face by a teammate. Shocked because all I've read online is how amazing a quarterback Geno will be once he gets weapons. Shocked because I was told little red flags of character mean nothing. But what's truly shocking is that the Mets are 3.5 games ahead in the NL East.

  8. Now that the nonsense of "PunchGate" is dying down I'll be looking at the following tonight: - Even though there's no game planning I want to see efficient performances from the #1 offense & defense in their reps - Even though there's 90 players on the roster I want to see a "clean" game operation. Few or no penalties, clean substitutions - How is the development of Bryce Petty going? He'll play the majority of the game can he show what he's learning in a live environment? (footwork, going through progressions, throwing into NFL windows) - Which RB is pushing to make the roster Daryl Richardson or Zac Stacy? - How is Wes Saxton (TE) developing, can he make the 53 man roster? - Which of the WR's can take their camp performances into a game TJ Graham, Walter Powell, Shaq Evans, Quincy Enunwa - Who of the backup OLinemen show up in their reps? (Brent Qvale, Oday Aboushi, Dakota Dozier, Brian Winters, Jarvis Harrison) - Leonard Williams as he preps to replace Sheldon Richardson during his suspension - Which of the young NT's show potential to be a backup to Snacks? (TJ Barnes, Deon Simon) - Can Lorenzo Mauldin bring the pressure he was flashing in camp? - Taiwan Jones (ILB) and whether he can secure a backup spot behind David Harris? - Can Trevor Reilly take advantage of Enemkpali getting cut and make a push for an OLB spot? - Can Marcus Williams and Dexter McDougle take advantage of Milliner being out and move up the depth chart? - Can Rontez Miles and Durrell Eskridge take advantage of Allen being out and make the roster?

  9. Are you ******* kidding me? the guy punched a teammate.. a starting quarterback teammate.. in the face. I don't care how much you dislike Geno and think he's a punk, you don't cold clock your own teammate in the locker room.

  20. I had a feeling that Smith was being a total ******* bully because he's the QB, IK is a backup linebacker and he thinks he can go through life with the red jersey on. He found out differently. If it's true that he had his finger in his face and told IK that "you're not going to do" anything about getting the money back, I am glad IK punched him. I don't know many of us here that wouldn't have done the same.

  21. I don't think anyone will disagree with you. I don't think anyone isn't holding Geno accountable. Its more about IK and the fact you don't escalate to what he did. From other rumors IK is extremely tight on his money. So Geno taking his time with paying back 600 bucks probably really pissed him off. I don't think many will disagree that Geno is immature and lacks leadership skills. Here is what we know about Geno since becoming a Jet. 1. Geno Smith squirms and flees Radio City when he slipped out of the 1st round showing mental weaknesses. 2. Missed a team meeting on the road, Team didn't hold him accountable, he didn't hold himself accountable and used stupid time excuses. 3. Couldn't handle the pressure of a heckling fan. Shouted **** YOU to a Jet fan, says he's sorry and its part of his learning process. 4. Geno Smith got into a little jawing match with Titans defensive lineman Jurrell Casey. Apparently Casey didn’t like what he heard, because he gave the Jets quarterback a nice punch in the noggin. 5. Is asked about being ranked 32nd QB for 2nd straight year and he says he finds it "laughable". 6. Can't handle personal business outside of work and gets physically assaulted in the process. 7. Teammates don't go to bat for him. Hold him accountable and partly to blame for damaging the teams possible success this season. People have got on me in the past about calling out the maturity level of Geno. But I'm sorry, look at that list above and tell me one successful QB in the NFL that has developed the same type of pattern from the start of their NFL careers. There isn't any. That because being a QB requires you to lead by example. You can't lead if your actions result in your teammates not respecting you or how you conduct yourself on and off the field. Goodbye Geno, I'm happy the Jets will move on from you after 3 years instead of holding the org hostage for another 2-3 yrs.

  24. October 1, 1989. went with my dad and his brother. I was 8 and remember it well because Eric McMillan set a franchise record on the day for longest INT return for a touchdown. There was also a ton of Joe Must Go chants throughout the game, and at one point I looked up at my father and asked "Hey Dad, who's Joe Musgo?" 34 years old and my pops and uncle still haven't let me live that one down.

  27. I think this is a good reason why people who weren't there shouldn't come out immediately after the fact and tell anyone what type of fan they are if they're questioning Geno and his leadership, because we now have a version of the story that shows him to be the antagonist who absolutely lacks leadership qualities. Again...this is all depending on which version of events is true.

  28. A lot of hate for Geno but he was having a great camp. It would have been nice to see what he could have done with a full preseason. You know since the Jets coaches all feel like he is the best QB on the roster and all.

  33. Credit to reddit /r/nfl for the post. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but there's a bit of a disturbing trend going on with this guy's career. Everywhere Ryan Fitzpatrick goes, misfortune rains upon anyone who stands in front of him on the depth chart. Let's review how things have gone for all four teams Fitzpatrick has played with: St. Louis Rams - Fitzpatrick, a Harvard grad with a perfect Wonderlic score, is drafted in the 7th round of the 2005 draft as an intriguing project pick. The team who drafts him, the St. Louis Rams, is already set with a franchise quarterback. Marc Bulger, a Pro Bowler who has led them to back-to-back playoff appearances, is in the prime of his career. However, Bulger injures his right throwing shoulder after a 2-4 start to the 2005 season. He returns a few weeks later, but after losing two more games, he re-injures his shoulder and is out for the year. Bulger is replaced by Jamie Martin in Week 12, but Martin quickly succumbs to injury himself in the first quarter. In comes Ryan Fitzpatrick. The unheralded 7th round rookie shocks the world with a brilliant performance, throwing for 310 yards on just 30 attempts, and delivers a 56-yard bomb in Kevin Curtis to win the game in overtime. This, however, is just a tease. Fitzpatrick plays horribly over the next three games, tossing five interceptions in his second start and throwing for 69 yards on 24 attempts in his third. He is relegated back to the bench, and never sees the field again for the Rams before being let go after the 2006 season. As for Bulger, his career quickly falls apart. He rebounds with a pretty strong season in 2006 despite failing to reach the playoffs, but this doesn't last. Starting in 2007, the Rams plummet toward the bottom of the NFL and Bulger's numbers instantly crash for the next few seasons. With a horrible team surrounding him, Bulger appears shellshocked and never plays like his old self. Once Bulger is let go by the Rams, he never gets another starting job. Cincinnati Bengals - Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, finds himself in Cincinnati by the 2007 season, where he is backing up another franchise quarterback. Carson Palmer, who has made back-to-back Pro Bowls, appears to have recovered just fine from his torn ACL and is right back on track to being a superstar....until 2007. Palmer throws 20 interceptions in a 7-9 season for the Bengals, an unexpected decline from the young superstar. But while 2007 was merely disappointing, 2008 was a disaster for Palmer. He is plagued with an elbow injury early in the season, later revealed to be a torn ligament, and aggravates it in a Week 5 loss before being placed on IR. Many believe this elbow injury has permanently affected Palmer, taking away some of the arm strength he once had. He has never been the same since. Fitzpatrick again enters the starting lineup following Palmer's injury, but doesn't play well enough to warrant serious consideration as a starting quarterback. Buffalo Bills - In 2009, Fitzpatrick signs with Buffalo to back up a somewhat promising young quarterback in Trent Edwards. While Edwards had not been spectacular in his first two seasons, he had performed reasonably well in what was thought of by some as a game manager role as Buffalo's starting quarterback. Until 2009, of course. Edwards regresses in his third season and, at the halfway point, is benched. Fitzpatrick once again enters the lineup and starts most of the second half of the season. Despite the benching, the story remains the same one year later: Edwards once again wins the starting job in 2010. It doesn't last. Edwards ends up playing two of the worst games of his life to start the season, and is surprisingly released by the Bills afterwards. After a disastrous midseason stint with Jacksonville, Edwards' career in the NFL is essentially over. Fitzpatrick, back in the lineup once again, surprises everyone with a decent performance to close the 2010 season. While that performance was promising, he then shocks the world in 2011 with a dominant 3-0 start capped off by a miraculous comeback victory over the Patriots. The Bills prematurely reward him with a massive contract extension, and Fitzpatrick immediately proceeds to regress back to his old self. He throws 20 picks in the last 13 games as the Bills go 3-10 to close out the season. He continues to languish in mediocrity in 2012 before being released. Tennessee Titans - Once again, Fitzpatrick finds himself in a situation where he's backing up a young, potential franchise quarterback when he signs with Tennessee for 2013. The results, so far, are eerily similar. While Jake Locker appeared to have turned the corner on the field, he has now been struck down with injuries twice this year and is now out for the season. Yet again, Ryan Fitzpatrick returns to the starting lineup. To recap, nothing but terrible things have happened to the quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick has backed up in his career, regardless of how good they were thought to be at the time. Marc Bulger, Carson Palmer and Trent Edwards all saw their fortunes collapse quickly and unexpectedly once Fitzpatrick came to town. Then, Jake Locker has also been lost for the season. Houston Texans - Fitzpatrick was slated to be the Texans starting quarterback for the 2014-2015 season. However, Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched in Week 11 in favor of Ryan Mallet, a trade acquisition from the Patriots. After only starting a couple games, however, Mallet suffered a season-ending injury in Week 12 against the Bengals. Case Keenum finished the season as the starter. New York Jets - August 11, 2015 only a couple weeks into training camp Geno Smith was sucker punched by a fellow player. This resulted in a broken jaw for Geno, and a minimum 6 week recovery time. Geno probably won't start until Week 3. TL;DR Rams - Bulger and Martin both injured by week 11. Fitz starts 3. Bengals - Palmer injured most the season. Fitz starts 12. Bills - Edwards injured. Fitz starts 9. Titans - Locker injured week 4, Fitz starts 9. Texans - Starts season as QB1, Mallet takes over then injured after 3 starts. Fitz is QB1 again. Jets - Geno punched. Fitz starter in the preseason.

  38. Walking out on the draft Dick pics Missed meetings Lateness Cursing at and flippin the bird to fans Getting thrown off airplanes. Worst QB in the league and has an ego like he is the next Steve Young Now he stiffs a teamate for money and gets what he deserves. I'm glad IK knocked him out. Fvck Geno. He sucks as a football player and man. BTW if it was any other NFL QB who is respected by most of his his teamates who got clobbered in the locker room like Geno was the puncher never would have gotten out of that locker room unscathed. I would bet most of the NYJ players secretly would love to knock Geno's teeth out.

  39. I think when all is said and done, this incident will have the unintended benefit of accelerating our moving on from Geno by a season. Either Fitz will be good enough to play the Dilfer role this season or we'll be awful and we'll do what we need to do to draft/acquire another QB next season. But it sounds more and more like Geno really is just an ass and if he was Favre-good, then I'd be fine with it, but when you're in the bottom-three of QBs in the league, you don't get away with it. See ya', Geno.

  42. Yea it is. This season is nothing more then seeing if the coaching staff is good and which rookie is worth keeping. Geno is not the answer. He never was and never will be. Wasting time having him play is pointless. See if Petty can play if he can't draft a QB with the top ten pick next year. Fitz is nothing more then a QB to give Petty a chance to get ready to start. Geno is and always has been obsolete.
