  1. So, one of two things just happened in the NFL. Either you are the dumbest OC in the history of the sport, or your on the take. There is no other explanation. You are deep in NE territory, only six minutes left in the game, and if you kick a field goal, the game is over. But you elect to call a pass play that takes you out of field goal range. Then, you get a holding call that eliminates any chance. The Patriots get the greatest comeback in NFL history to win in the only game to go to OT. I CALL ABSOLUTE BULLsh*t>

  2. Just a message for those feeling bad or anxious tonight... I live in the heart of New England, so sometimes it's easy to give more weight to football than it actually deserves... I think it's important to remember that sports are a distraction and not life and death. Sports don't matter all that much. Football is a game... A pretty silly one really. It doesn't change your everyday life. It doesn't solve problems or save anyone or make the world a better place. The team with the most wins doesn't get to cure cancer or improve the world and they sure as hell don't care about your individual well being... They get a shiny trophy and that's about it. It's easy to tie heavy emotions into these games because it's a great distraction and an outlet for our natural competitive human nature... But these games aren't life and death. There's no real need for it. They come and go and life goes on not really caring about football. Yes it's fun to win. We all want success and we want to feel like part of a group that won... And it's a pain when you don't... But shake your fist and move on. It's a game. It doesn't need to change your outlook on life. You don't mean less because your team didn't play as well with a ball and the other fans don't mean more to the world because they won. That's silly. I'll hear about this for weeks, and when someone tries to rub it in my face I'll ask "Yes they won. How does that change your life?"... And the answers people give end up sounding pretty damn silly. We all have more important things to care about. Anyway... This is just a message for those that are feeling furious or bummed or just plain bad... Because when I was younger I did let these things get to me. It really mattered to me. I lost sleep over games... Then I realized how utterly silly that was. None of it matters! It's a game. A lot of people will find some sort of artificial self worth in their team winning, which is kind of sad on it's own, but even that will fade. It's not important when you add everything up. Just a game folks, just a game.

  3. I am losing interest with the NFL more every year but its more about the overall quality of the games and the lack of star players I actually like

  4. I'm not done with the NFL. And I'm not a believer that the league is "fixed" or that outcomes are predetermined. I do believe that player discipline in the league is a major problem, where pot smokers get full season bans and repeat-offense cheaters get slaps on the wrist. In my opinion Tom Brady should have received a year long suspension for what he and his team did. And he should be on a "last strike" situation now, he and Bellichek, where any form of rules violation (i.e. cheating) from here out would result in lifetime bans for both of them. Because they are cheaters, and they insult the integrity of the game. That said, Brady is clearly the greatest QB who has ever played the game of football, and it's not even close. Not remotely close. And Bill Bellichek is the greatest Head Coach to ever coach in the game. And again, it's just not really that close. It's part of what makes their rampant and consistent cheating so confusing, because frankly they really don't seem to need it to dominate this league regardless of who they put around Tom. As a Jets Fan, mired in a near half-century of futility, embarrassment and failure, it IS Hard to see one of our most hated rivals so completely and totally dominate the league. They dominate, while we're regularly a joke punchline. It does bother me, and it does make today feel pretty sh*tty frankly. But as a fan, I suppose all we can do is hope one day we get to play again in the Super Bowl and win. But at this point, I've spent my entire life waiting (born after SBIII), and frankly, I have no confidence that this franchise will ever get the that point in my remaining lifetime. I hope they do, I'll root and watch and invest myself in hoping they do. But I honestly don't think they will. And that sucks. Congrats Pats fans, I hope you fully appreciate what you've been given. It's something very very special. Two GOATS, and an era of modern sports that will never, ever, be rivaled. Enjoy it.

  5. the worst part is they made me watch the entire game - would have been easier if they just rolled from the start...

  6. +1 this if you want to punch the OP in the face.

  7. And Atlanta snapping the ball with 15 or 20 seconds left on every play in the 4th quarter? What was that?
    7 points
  8. That's how I always pictured the Jets losing a Super Bowl.

  9. And on the holding play the Pats should have been flagged for a facemask, offsetting the hold and keeping the Falcons in FG range. Typical Pats play.

  10. @JiF made a great point awhile back that teams don't improve, they simply get better QB play. Quinn missed the playoffs last year and made the SB with Ryan having an MVP season. Bowles goes 10-6 with Fitz having the best statistical season of a Jets QB, and misses playoffs this year because the QBs stunk. Bowles has made some questionable in game decisions, just as Quinn has done, but their QB play is going to decide their fortunes.
    6 points
  11. Yet when Bowles does the same thing he is considered an idiot out here.

  12. And don't believe the line the media was repeating last night that "ATL will be back next year". Nothing is promised in the NFL just look at CAR, they were in the SB last year with the MVP and this year they went 6-10. ATL has to recover from that epic choke job plus they are going to lose their OC. They could easily slide back next year

  13. If Ryan completed a pass for TD it would have been "a great, aggressive play that dumb, conservative Bowles would never call" If they ran it and got stopped, missed the FG it would have been "a dumb, conservative Bowles-like call, should have gone for the kill"

  14. Dan Quinn can override anyone on his staff but when he sees his OC is being a total f'ng moron and is single handedly blowing the game, he does nothing. He's still doesn't deserve any blame though. Got it! If the Falcons ran the ball and missed a 40 yard field goal, then Matt Bryant is the big story, not the horrendous in game management. His job as a head coach is to make sure that sh*t like the 2nd half doesn't happen. He utterly FAILED as a head coach in the 2nd half.

  15. The more I watch NE in these games the more I think Belichick wins them simply because he remains "dead faced" and unemotional as the other HC and staff lose their minds. It's happened in their last two SB wins (SEA & ATL) both staffs lost sight of simple game management and blew wins

  16. I've been competing in stuff for a long time and Tom Brady can suck a dick.
    5 points
  17. If you are someone who competes on any level you have to admit you admire Brady. What that guy just did is nothing short of historic
    5 points
  18. Doesn't matter whether you make the kick or not; there is NOTHING you do in that situation but run the ball, take the time off the clock, and try and go up two scores with less than 5 minutes left. The way they were running the ball that day? No, something stinks here.

  19. I'm done. The blatant rigged officiating in this game says it all. Just rename it to the Kraft and Goodell league. I'm taking a long hiatus from this corrupt league and concentrate on things that truly matter. Good luck to the rest of you that are hanging in there. I've wasted to much of my life on this garbage

  20. Greatest choke job in SB history and if you think that is something we have done as Jets fans or as a team you will have to think again!! That was HORRIFIC!!

  21. my god don't we see enough blowing of Brady in the media? we gotta bring it here too? I don't give a flying fu-k who thinks Brady is the bestest ever. To me he isn't and never will be.

  22. No. Edwards had them run when they were on the edge of FG range on a field notoriously hard to hit FGs from that distance. Not only did he call for a run but he then had chad take a knee, losing a couple of yards, making the kick more difficult. Not the same as being on the 20, indoors, with a chip shot From where they were, running at 6.5 a pop, there was only one right call. Run and eat up clock. At least force the Pats to use their TOs. Passing has too many negative possibilities. Sacks, ints, holding call, etc would take points off the board. And save TOs and clock. Dumb as it gets. Three runs never would have taken them out of FG range. And would have run minutes off the clock. Missed face mask was a killer too

  23. 80 still kinda wins because he shot me in the face N1 and got away with it

  24. I don't think so either, they will be physiologically damaged from this game. I thought the pass play on the goal line was bad, Pats v Seahawks. This is a whole new level of choke.

  25. Let me be clear: Hackenberg has exactly one year, from now, to show he's worth keeping and continued development, or he should be cut flat out. If he is unable or unready to take a meaningful number of snaps this preseason, he should be cut, flat out. If he is unable to compete for the #2 job at the very least, he should be cut, flat out. And if our season goes to sh*t, and he is so unready that he cannot even be played in trash-time, he should be cut, flat out. Finally, if he is not in a position at years-end where we beleive he can compete in 2018 for the #1 job.....he should be cut, flat out. This is not about patience, this is about proper expectations from a professional NFL quarterback. This isn't a daycare, and Hack isn't a baby who needs coddled. Step up and earn your spot on the team, or frankly, he can sod off and sell insurance or slice meat with the other castoffs of the NFL ratrace.

  28. No doubt. I love the Jets and I want to see them win and celebrate with all of you... But I think I also realize that just because I want to ride that super high doesn't mean I also need to sink in a super low with they don't win... If that makes sense.

  29. Ryan to Jones, first down, Patriots 22 yard line, 4:47 on the clock. If the Falcons take a knee 3 times, it's a chippie field goal that would either put the Patriots down by 10 at the 2 minute warning or they'd have to burn their timeouts and be down by 10 at maybe the 3 minute mark. Dumbest playcalling in the history of the Super Bowl, maybe in the history of all sports. SAR I

  33. 21-3 at the half 28-3 early to mid 3rd quarter The ball on the NE 35 with a chance to seal the game just by running the ball 3 times, kicking a FG, and winning the game right there, instead, they get pass happy and wind up with 4th and 33 never sniff a scoring chance again. 2 kick off returns fielded in the EZ and for some ungodly reason brought out, and the returner runs out of bounds at the 10 yard line - TWICE. Both resulted in 3 & outs deep in ATL territory leading to NE TD's. Unreal. It looked like ATL was actually throwing the game even though they weren't - consciously anyway. The Falcons had this game salted away and stopped playing mid 3rd quarter. It was so bad in the second half that I wondered if the Jets and Falcons had switched coaches at halftime. I recall saying to myself over and over and over watching that second half debacle - "WTF are these guys doing"? WTF is Quinn thinking? What happened to his defense who could not stop a leak from the second possession in the second half through overtime? They obviously tired, but really, they could never get off of the field in that second half and overtime and their offense did nothing to help them late in the game. Oh and why the heck did Quinn stop running the ball? They have 2 stud RB's and for some unknown reason, went pass happy and could not move the ball a lick. When you have a lead, you run the football to eat clock. Even our stupid coach knows that (I think). Thinking about those poor Falcon fans last night, I am glad our team never comes within 100 light years of a SB because I do not know how I could ever recover from a loss like last night's where we would snatch defeat from the firm jaws of victory. There is no way in hell Atlanta should have lost that game last night.

  34. Yeah, absolutely. That was an incredible performance by Brady. Falcons were hitting him hard but he was still throwing. D ran out of gas. But Falcons had numerous opportunities to keep Brady off the field, as the OP states, but the Falcons' coaching staff completely blew up. Ultimately it comes down to not continuing to run after Julio Jones' ridiculous sideline catch. That drive shouldve sealed the game. Even if they get stuffed and don't get any more yards. They kick a short field goal and go up 11 with about 2 minutes left.

  35. People called me crazy for wanting to trade our first for Glennon last year Turns out we coulda traded both our first and second for Glennon and still be in a better position than what we are today

  36. The GOAT is Joe Montana, followed by Peyton Manning. And here's 5 reasons why Tom Brady is excluded from the conversation: 1. * 2. * 3. * 4. * 5. The next cheating scandal that comes out this offseason.

  37. I'm not sure if Macc drafting Hack was due to outside pressure from the people you mentioned above but I do know that taking Hack in the 2nd round was truly ridiculous. We might as well have given the Bucs that pick for Glennon, Atleast we would have avoided what we ultimately got with Fitz. Hack would have been there in the 3rd/4th round. We continue to treat 2nd round picks with little value or drafting players that are injury prone
    3 points
  38. Because if Hackenberg was in a fight he'd miss all his punches
    3 points
  39. If Matt Ryan milks the clock down to 1 second before snapping the ball, if Shanahan calls for 3 Freeman runs and attempts the FG, the game is over. There simply isn't enough clock to make up a 28-9 deficit in a quarter. Unless the opposing team screws it all up, that is. SAR I

  42. Pretty much. This had to be the worst feeling for falcons fans. The owner looked ready for suicide, lol

  43. This is exactly what I am talking about. If you wrote a script about this, no one would believe it. Something smells here. Like Paul Krue gives up in the second half kinda smells.
    3 points
  44. That was one of the worst coached halves of football I have ever seen. Against the greatest team in sports history, you absolutely stop playing and stop competing 5 minutes into the second half? Did Bowltite and Quinn flip jobs at halftime? I just do not get WTF Atlanta was doing, fielding kickoffs in the EZ and purposefully running out of bounds at the 10 yard line on more than 1 occasion and going ultra conservative. Have to punt on 4th and 33 out when they were in FG range to put the game away, only to give up 2 stupid sacks. I cannot believe that just happened and I want to vomit. Thank you Dan Quinn
    3 points
  45. On the plus side, this is why I didn't want to draft Matt Ryan.
    3 points
  46. I don't care what anyone SAYS Matt Ryan is not as good as Aaron Rogers... and it is not even close!!!!!!
    3 points
  47. Even if it was a clear admission of failure, woud anyone care? If Idzik was willing to admit he failed with Geno and drafter Carr the next season, would anyone even remember Geno was drafted? They need a GM who doesn't hang on to guys or refuse to replace guys because of his ego. If Hack didn't show dramatic improvement over the course of the season, you can't hesitate to take a QB because he "might get it' at some point.
