  5. Just wanted to vent. We are all in this together. We are happy when Jets are good, we are depressed when Jets are depressed. What I mean by "We" is the Jet fans. The ones who feel the pain in their hearts each time the Jets fail. Woody? He is in this for business and prestige. Not sure if he is sad as say SAR I or @joewilly12 when Jets lose. Bowles? King of all the shrimp lovers? Nah. McCag? Nope. No way. He will forget about the Jets the minute he is canned. Players? Are you kidding me? Where are the ho's at? What I am trying to say is, things are looking bad for at least next season. Just wanted to wish good luck to my fellow Jet fans in the upcoming season. Most likely 3-13 or maybe 4-12. Who cares. If it will mean a dynasty in the end, who cares? I am ready to embrace the suck for a few years if it will mean at least 10 years of competitive football. Who is with me?

  6. I'm in a sushi joint in Melville with the wife. There is a dude on a date with a dwarf at the table across from us. I am trying to get a photo without being noticed, but I am discovering that it is no "small" task. Neither is trading the #6 pick in the NFL draft. God speed Mr MacCagnan.....

  8. ...The Jets will be a much more fun and interesting team to watch this coming year, despite the wholesale subtractions so far. I understand the desire to laugh me out of the forum with that kind of statement... But I really do picture a team that gives us more hope and reason for optimism and a more interesting topic of discussion than this past season... I think we're going to enjoy watching a lot of young players put in a ton of effort into trying to make it in this league. I think we're going to enjoy seeing this reset and who comes out of it, way more than we did these last couple years. I think we'll find more players to pull and root for. Maybe that's not saying much, but with all the cuts and changes I think there's a default tendency to feel like things will be worse across the board, and I don't think that will be the case. I think we'll have more moments this coming season where we feel good about the future rather than dire about the current situation. I think we'll say "I can't wait to see what he does next week now!" a lot more. They may only win 1,2,3,4 games, and that sucks and it's painful, but I think it'll be a heck of a lot more fun to watch these young guys play and compete and come together as a team than anything we saw this past year. I know we've had many resets before... I'm not (that) naive... But this overhaul just feels like it's coming at a really good time. It feels like a huge weight off our shoulders. It feels like we're really adding by subtracting this time. I'm cautiously excited and hopeful. Happy Friday all.

  10. I could care less what these miserable folks want . All I want is for Woody Johnson to keep his word and allow these men to tear this team to pieces and give them the time to build it again .

  13. It really doesn't matter what the fans/media think, from the moves already made this team is finally going to "stop patching the tires" and take the car to the garage. And personally I'm glad, it's frustrating to be a "yo-yo" team because certain core things are never fully addressed (QB). The worst thing that could've happened this year would've been to keep the "big name" players, re-structure contracts to open up cap space and then go after Romo to make another Favre type run like in 2008

  17. Give me this and I will be happy in 2017 despite the record which the PS expectations predict will be poor. IMO this is what being a fan is all about. I won't buy a car or a house from a guy I don't like. Tough for me to root for guys I don't like.

  18. I disagree and here's why . Safety is not a premium position and a top 10 pick in the 1st round of the draft should be spent on such a position . Since there's no clear prospect at the premium positions with the value of the 6th over all pick, trading down makes a ton of sense . m

  19. We need more picks. The entire offensive line needs to be replaced. Who cares if we have a great RB in the first round if there is no one to block for them.

  20. 21 years old, potential to be a stud. plays big in big moments. We have burned first round picks on guys who turned out to be duds. Why not gamble on a player that could turn this thing around for us?

  21. None of that stuff bothered me. What bothered me was 6' 0' 229 lbs at MLB.

  22. Dobbs has definitely improved his footwork and throwing motion since the Senior Bowl. He would be intriguing as a developmental pick. On a side note Steve Smith has been excellent as an analyst breaking down the details of the WR position

  23. Don't be so sure. I'm pretty sure I heard Mac say something along the lines of: "From now on I will approach the GM position from the perspective of what would joewilly12 do here? Meaning I will ask myself before each move, how would joewilly12 handle this situation. And then I will act accordingly." so I would not be surprised in the least to see Geno backing up Kaepernick as our QBs this year, with Petty and Hack fighting out for the 3rd QB position.

  24. Cool with me. I see no problem with drafting a slow running back with no vertical that shows up overweight to the most important event of his life with the 6th overall pick. Sounds like a great fit.

  25. Flip on the channel - there's Kizer throwing it in the dirt.... this guy is a top 5 pick?

  26. It means if we get a good offer, we will move down. If we don't he won't give the pick away. No one will trade up now for the #6, they'll wait for the draft to see how it plays out, and if their "guy" is there. Given the # of holes on the roster, trading back isn't a bad idea.

  27. How so? How do we know anything what the Jets braintrust are thinking right now..None of us, including the media, know what Morton/Bates/CS/FO beliefs are regarding the only two QBs currently signed. Even if they were to sign Glennon, I'd guess his contract will be structured like Osweiler and other Mcc contracts, which contain an out after two yrs.

  28. Basically, he used a lot of words to give a complete non-answer. I'll move down, up, or stand pat. Okay, Guy.

  29. This is a 1969 Camaro that needs a total rebuild the Jets are very much like this Camaro they havent had any success or glory since 1969 its been a longtime...........

  30. If only.....If only... If only we had done this the right way and installed a new CS altogether, thus commencing a REAL rebuild, I would be much more excited for our future, but the fact is the Jet FO is still living a delusion by thinking this franchise will improve while Bubba Gump is HC. God, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, magic carpets, Bowltite being a good HC - all delusions created by people to make themselves feel safe and warm. I fear that we will see much the same as we did last season only with different players. Frustrating, boring, dull, uninspired, stubborn, non adjusting, poor game planning, players played % position constantly, kicking FG's down 41-0, and basically playing scared and not to lose. This guy will not change - you can't turn a dog into a thoroughbred horse. I hate to always play devil's advocate and be so negative, but let me ask the board, what happens if and when Bowltite gets canned next January? Are we again going to have to sit through a "complete rebuild"? Will a new HC &/or GM release a bunch of players and start anew yet again? This is why this whole thing makes no sense - how they are going about this I mean. The fact that our STC and DC and of course the head moron are still here boggles the mind, it really does. I wonder who in the organization sees what in these guys that would allow them to be retained here. If I owned the Jets, and my team lost 41-6 on National TV to a mediocre at best team, I would be furious! Here, that gets rewarded apparently with another year of employ. I just don't get it. So while I do agree this is going to be interesting, I am only slightly excited because I know the leader is defective and we will never be a true contender as long as he is here.

  31. Why is every reaction so extreme? It's like he's just traded the #6 pick for a bag of magic beans. First - he isn't "shopping the pick", looking to trade it now, all he's saying is he'd be open to offers. Ask ANY GM at the top of the draft and he'll say he's "open to offers". Second - why NOT be open to offers? If you say now "no way we're trading down" you close off that option for later, and other teams will trade with guys around you instead. Third - we know Macc is a stickler for value from other non-trades, so it's not likely he'll move down for, as I say, a bag of magic beans. It'll have to be a strong offer to get the pick from us. My opinion, there's a >90% chance that we pick a player at #6 this year. All this is just noise right now.

  32. To me, this is the fun part of team sports. The building and watching young guys take roles and looking for silver linings. This rebuild was overdue and some poor, short term decisions were made.

  33. Only team that should take a Rb high in the draft, if you are one player away from possible winning the Super Bowl. This Rb draft is so deep you can get a quality Rb much later in this draft.( bigger reason why address other needs earlier). The shelf life for a running back isn't that long , and silly to invest a high draft pick in that area when you don't have the other pieces to get maximimum return on your investment.

  34. My son was playing basketball and baseball in grammar school. We didn't do fall travel because they played on Sundays. Then his basketball league started playing on Sunday. I said listen son, I love you. But if you make me miss a Jets game I am going to love you less. You have two siblings, so things can be shifted around pretty easily. He got the message and didn't play basketball anymore. He picked up football and played all the way through college. The Jets make me a better parent.

  35. I'd gladly suffer through a couple of losing seasons while watching some promising young players develop. That would be light years better than last year - the arrow was pointing down last year, big time. Even two years ago, you had tge feleing that we were flat, trying to catch lightening in a bottle for a playoff run with an aging after playing a pretty soft schedule. Less wins with the arrow pointing up would be refreshing.

  36. Ya it's a legit concern, but I think even if some guys are being positioned wrong or the playcalling is off, we'll still be able to pick out the guys that are hungry and that improve as the season goes on... And then maybe a little harder to notice; we'll see who the new set of leaders are on this team... I'm really looking forward to seeing Leonard Williams run with that... He seems like he could be such a strong leader on this team. He plays hard constantly, he's smart, and he makes the guys around him better.

  38. Looks like Mac is committed to "Suck for Sam" initiative. You know what, go for it. If he can turn #6 into a 1st this year 1st next year a 2nd next year, this will give us more ammo to trade up in next years draft if we have to.

  39. Meh... The fans that hung around when Kotite was HC, will hang around when Bowles is HC. A good portion will lose interest, and find other things more exciting to do. If the Jets start winning again in two years they'll be fans again

  41. A rebuild implies there's an end product. ie it's built. We as in the Jets, have suffered a lot over many decades of no success. So of course, if there is an outcome that's positive Yes! We've been rolling out a poor product for a very long time. If any of us had any sence we would have jumped ship years ago, but we are all still here. I just want some young, hard working likeable players I can root for. Not high payed ass hats like Mevis, Sheldon, and co. It's is what it is, so bring on the draft, just don't pick a fooking corner. It's the NFL in 2017, score some points!

  42. I agree with him and here's my reason. There are so many holes in our secondary and with 2 super talented safeties (Adams/Hooker) it makes sense to draft one of them. Imagine we sign Stephon Gilmore or Bouye then add Adams or Hooker? That's a young talented foundation to the secondary. With a team that has virtually no elite leve talent aside from Williams you can't pass up a top 8 pick. Just my thoughts
    2 points
  43. Yeah, I don't know what you think is short-sighted about signing 25-26 year old free agents to fill holes that we have... but I don't think that is short sighted. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Jets are not tanking for 5 years. We are be cutting the dead weight and rebuilding. Those holes will be filled through both FA and the draft. To think that they are not going to be active is ridiculous.

  45. Getting rid of overpriced veterans who were either hurt or stunk last year is not going into "Tank Mode" - that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but never let it be said the morons in the New York media missed an opportunity for a sensational headline FYI: THE MONEY SAVED BY DUMPING OVERPRICED UNPRODUCTIVE PLAYERS CAN IMMEDIATELY BE SPENT ON YOUNGER, MORE PRODUCTIVE PLAYERS!!!! That's not a tank job people

  46. I support the rebuild. (Don't call it a tank in public)

  48. Part of me wonders if the crew that basically tantrum forced the Jets to re-sign Fitz, is also the contingency of players that threatened to quit on the season if he got benched early on. Essentially holding the team hostage. In which case, I totally understand the locker room issues, and really can't put it all on the HC. There's only so much a coach can do, but when you get that many veteran starters aligned against what you want to do, it's a tough spot. Oh well, we'll never get the full story.

  49. Dear Lord, what exactly have you seen from Bowles that makes him anything more than one of the worst Head Coaches in the NFL right now?
    2 points
  50. I agree that Mac's record is pi*s poor.. possibly beyond poor but Bowles when things got bad this past football year... seemed unlike the leader he needed to be. The previous year was easier to coach when your streaky qb is on a hot streak, Marshall and Decker are a big part of those ten wins. This past year players seemed to check out, that includes Revis, Wilkerson.. the public riff between Marshall and Richardson. Player's coaches rarely seem to be able to hold a team together...Pete Carroll being the outlier.
