    "Mark My Words"

Mark my words, next years draft class of QB's (the suck for Sam class) will not pan out like people think today, and will (next year) be viewed as no better than this year's class. And Mark my Words, the Jets will absolutely NOT have the #1 pick in the 2018 draft nor will the Jets trade up for the #1 pick in the draft. And mark my words, Hack will not start opening day 2017, and will maybe not start at all in 2017 (this one could be a reach on my part).

A pretty simplistic dig, don't you think? Everything we read seems to indicate that the QB prospects are blah. The WRs aren't top 10 worthy. I wouldn't mind Fournette, but who knows if he drops? Sadly, S and Howard are probably BPA where we will be picking. But yeah, let's waste a #6 pick on a QB prospect who probably won't be able to beat out Josh McCown. Solid plan.

I have a friend in the NFL offices. Going off of what she told me, the first 16 games are brutal. Sucks that they packed them all together like that, but if we can get through those with two or three wins, we're golden.

Every highlight film I watch with Adams shows him acting as an in the box safety, that's not what we need. We need a free safety that can provide deep coverage, shrink the windows that an opposing QB has to throw into and can opportunistically pick off some passes. That's Hooker. Adams is a better version of Pryor and to be honest I have no idea if he will take better angles than Pryor. So what's the point, to save a few mil? Doesn't matter how fast he is, if he takes sh*tty angles.

    Hooker Among Jets Pre-Draft Visits

I feel like when people compare this one year wonder who cant tackle to Ed Reed, those people actually never saw Ed Reed play college Football. Similar to the NFL, Reed was legit one of the best players I've ever seen in college. The sh*t that kid did was incredible. He did it all...the picks/pick six's, the sacks, laying wood, the tips, the strips, the punt returns...these 2 players are not in the the same universe when it comes to play making and it's insulting to the player who should have been a Jet to even dare compare. Just a reminder of how amazing Ed Reed was....

    Hooker Among Jets Pre-Draft Visits

100% and it's unfair to the kids really. Hooker has one year on tape and is compared to one of the greatest to every play the game? It's ridiculous and truly holds no weight. Remember when Leo was compared to Reggie White? Schiano is the only one I've seen compare him to Ed Reed. College coaches are always going to do this sh*t. Recruiting is 24/7 365 and you have to use every thing in the book to get the best players. Pumping your boys up to help increase their draft stock is absolutely something that is noticed by potential recruits.
  16. 2 points
I'd rather pick up the 5th year option on a Pro Bowl safety than on a jackleg 3rd string career backup. If the Jets have one of the QBs rated highly, that's fine with me, just don't throw a hail mary hoping for a miracle at QB when there's a much higher rated player at another position Also, drafting best player available is all about building for the longterm. That's what you do when you draft BPA

    Hooker Among Jets Pre-Draft Visits

Yes, I have. And he takes terrible angles and doesnt tackle well and really doesnt want to play the run at all. He was attributed for 17 missed tackles this season. He was ranked 136th in tackling efficiency this season. He's not a fully developed player and could use another season in college to learn how to tackle. The other problem is other than his injuries, he doesnt really like Football and his mommy convinced him not to quit.

Safety at 6 is moronic especially one that is not perfect. 6 is too high for CBs too. QB WR OT Edge Rusher DT possibly RB not necessarily in that order at 6. Id like us to trade down a couple times. Try and wind up with another first next year. No to Adams, Hooker No to Fournette No to any of these QBs No to any CB especially Lattimore.

Then try to trade down, or reach on a guy that fills the biggest need (QB) who's projected to go a little lower. Even if Hooker turns out to be a great player (and I have my doubts he will), it will do little to better this team. The NFL is all about the quarterback. It isn't the team sport other versions of football are. Stop wasting time on safeties and D-Linemen, and go all out on filling the only position that matters. I don't give a sh!t what Kiper, Mayock, or any other f*cktard draftnik says. Take a f*cking quarterback. Hell, use the first two or three picks on them.

a different question is Would the Jets pick Adams at 6? It might be hard for them to pass. He certainly fits Mac's style of taking someone who should have gone higher. But in terms of the roster, it is somewhat of a sideways move, trading out Pryor for Adams. The Jets don't really need a SS but need hasn't stopped Mac before.

This is the scenario on draft night...

That's a big list which leaves a big question mark. In the last 10 years the Jets went Defense 9 of 10 times in the 1st round. In 2009 Mark Sanchez was the only Offensive pick. Will they follow the pattern? Unknown. The ability to put the ball in the end zone has been a stigmatism for this team for a long time. You need to score points to win games. Duh! I would like to see them go offense this year but not another QB project. We already have 2 projects which I believe at least one will pan out, but not without ample successes and failures. The young QB'S will need support so maybe a TE, Howard, or a RB but a RB in the 1st round is perhaps not so good an idea. The Jets will need to establish the run game this year and having dual TE sets giving big targets to open the game up for some down field passes is a good Offensive strategy. At least we will have QB's that can throw the ball over 25 yds this year and can lead receivers instead having them come back and fight for a reception.

I'd say for a guy to average better than one INT every two games in his first season as a starter at the highest level of collegiate football is pretty unreal.

LOL okay so basically you have nothing except hysterical nonsense. You havent said a thing to alleviate the concerns I've made from my own observations of his play and recorded stats by professionals and what scouts have to say about his inability to tackle. So next time just respond with, "not ahh", and we'll go about our merry ways.

Coaching and leadership matters in every area of life. Yea greats like Tom Brady and Payton Manning have personal coaches to improve their game but somehow folks just think that it is just magic fairy dust that makes a player good. The causes and conditions that we put any individual around impacts whether or not they will thrive. Indeed sometimes a good cause (a seed) falls on inhospitable ground or is placed almost trees that choke its growth. Then there is some seeds that fall on fertile ground and can thrive. It is up to the organization to make sure that the players they draft are put in fertile ground where they have a chance not a guarantee to thrive The fact that the Jets have hired someone to work who knows what they are doing is a welcome sign and break from the past.
  37. 1 point
Hey, haven't seen you around for a while. Agreed! Coaches are never the "most important offseason acquisition", and if they are - then you need a new GM, because it's always about getting good players.

Howard or Adams IMO are really the only options here apart from a trade down. I wish we could package Sheldon and our 2nd to Dallas for #28 and leave day 1 with Howard and McCaffrey

    Hodge+Herm on Lattimore

Macc is in a hole here. He cannot take Lattimore. If he does not see the field in 2017 because of injuries he will be pilloried. There will be no excuse for him. If Macc takes OJ Howard or Fournette, he gets a pass. Adams or Hooker too, although Hooker less so. Howard or Fournette help the offense. There will be safeties and CBs in rounds 2 and below. Mac has to pick players who play and make an impact. Players that look like busts will go over very badly. I think this pressure will definitely guide the way the Jets draft this year.
