… Stay boring Sam... please, just stay boring and milk toast as possible.9 points

Can't miss prospect, they said. As safe as Andrew Luck, they said. I'm an idiot for not agreeing, they said.8 points

Funny. You’d think Brady would do well in a place called Dick’s.6 points

One would think that if he were showing tremendous talent, that would be out there by the media. He seems to be the only QB of the five not getting any buzz. Word was that the Browns felt that bringing a franchise out of the dumps was "too big for Sam" to handle. Meanwhile, there are several offensive coaches at USC that can thank Sam for saving their jobs, and the season. Twice.5 points

By: Spencer Aber | 2 hours ago Sam Darnold has already defeated Tom Brady — just not on the field. According to the Dick’s Sporting Goods Football Jersey Report, the Jets rookie quarterback’s jersey is awfully popular. In fact, it’s more popular than Brady’s. As you can see, Darnold is eighth in jersey sales, while the New England legend ranks ninth. Darnold could not, however, top fellow New York rookie Saquon Barkley. The Giants running back placed first overall. Denver’s Bradley Chubb was the only other rookie to finish ahead of Darnold, as the defensive end ranked seventh. SIGN UP Like this article? He’s the big, new name in the AFC East, so it’s no surprise that he’s outselling Brady. However, Darnold has higher aspirations than beating Brady in jersey sales. He wants to beat him on the field and in the standings. For now, No. 12 still holds the thrown that really matters.4 points

That's a tremendous catch in my book3 points

Your criticizing that catch? He's pinned between 2 DB's, and the sideline. One of the DB's is hanging on him as he makes the catch. Rice couldn't stay on his feet there.3 points

I believe players are not allowed to talk to coaches or obviously have organized team practices for the next 6 or so weeks... But it IS ok for Darnold and McCown to work together right? I assume this is happening and part of the reason we are giving Josh 10 mil.. the player coach angle has been heavily publicized. if this is the case, then Sam gets 6 weeks of bonus coaching and this is actually a pretty genius move on our end...2 points

I am glad Cousins went to MN. Love the outcome of drafting and developing our own QB and Sam looks like the real deal.2 points

Those middle-of-the-pack odds of Todd Bowles being fired say more about Jets ownership being thrilled with mediocrity than they do about Todd Bowles being a good coach.2 points

In the meantime Sam Darnold is at home reading through the playbook, sipping some chi tea and listening to classical music on his ear buds.2 points

Last night was awesome. Rehearsal party with the out of town folk was pretty nice. My daughter and son in laws friends are very much not boring jerk offs. They put away some beer, wine and sangria. Sangria bothers me for some reason. I’ve never drank it but it just sits there in its sangria bowl with its fancy fruit and I honestly feel like it’s mockimg me. Probably just me. My daughter was trying to teach everyone how to wobble dance. Da fuq? I’m fat I have a natural wobble to me, but it seems there is more to it. Sitting on the porch listening to the water . Little rainy and windy but beautiful here. Should clear up later. At dusk we lit this bonfire on the beach and it was pretty cool. The dark side in me couldn’t help but think about bumping a certain Cousins spouse into it and blame my bum unstable left knee. Yet, Mrs Crusher and my mom were there and those are the two woman they know me all too well. I honestly have no real reason to want to set him on fire but sometimes you really don’t need one. Anyways gonna read through some of the game for a bit. Nothing crazy happening until pictures at four. My new suit came out silly nice. Got some nice gray suede shoes and a fucking fly Zegna tie to go with if. Pretty sure Mrs Crusher gonna prolly want me to share my self with her before the wedding or she will be a wreck the entire night, because yes, I’m going to look that fucking good.2 points

Gun slinging is Darnold’s game. His ability to improvise out of the pocket made him the best qb prospect in this year’s draft by far If you want 2 yard passes and 0 INTs yeah Teddy is your guy2 points
-
The guy keeps plays alive and always has his eyes looking downfield. He makes plays after other QBs have given up the down. Might that cause him to take a chance and get burned? Sure But he will also allow his receivers to get open and throw TDs. If he has 40 TDs and 15 INTs id be fine with that. Brett Farve did Ok being a bit of a gun slinger2 points

We all have our preferences, Mayfield was the last QB I would have chosen, I liked Rosen after Sam (I admit my opinion of Sam is colored by homerism, so doesn't count!), I did hear a lot of great stuff about Josh Allen a year before the draft, Jordan Palmer raved about his talent, which we heard via Jordan's FIL, who is part of our tailgate/season ticket group. I hope Sam cleans up the fumble issues, but I think there will always be INT due to his gunslinger mentality.2 points

To tell you the truth I thought the Jets were going to get Mayfield, and I was good with it. Two reasons...... I was sure Darnold was not going to make it to 3, so didn't really consider him that much. The turnover ratio worried me. Still does. Since Darnold has been here he seems to have won everyone who has seen him over, including the NYC hack scribes. That's amazing. I'm very happy the Jets got Darnold at this point. Think between his demeanor, and physical talent, if he gets the turnovers under control has a chance to be elite. Only downside is he'll probably save Bowles job also.2 points

Read a while back that Darnold was going to spend a few weeks working out with Jordan Palmer.2 points

His physical talents are undeniable So is the fact that he is a meat head He had legal issues at FSU and had to sell teams on his new maturity prior to the draft2 points

Stupidest thing I have ever heard. The lack of practice and all due to the CBA is appalling, henceforth, the poor quality of the product for most of the RS until everyone get into shape. Not to mention the injuries that occur due to the lack of conditioning. Whoever negotiates the next CBA has to be more sensible regarding organized off season / pre season team activities and practice time cause this is not cutting it.2 points

You're blaming him for not getting yac yards on this catch or others like it?2 points

By what we've seen and heard so far about Darnold and Mayfield post draft, the Jets definitely got the right guy. The Browns ineptitude is the gift that keeps on giving.2 points

I am of the opinion that the Jets receiving corps is actually the perfect receiving corps for a QB to develop under. Think about the advantages: 1. No prima dona WR demanding the ball on every play 2. A group of solid receivers all with a slightly different niche at the WR role 3. A group along with Darnold, that is going to play with a chip on their shoulder to prove themselves With our receiving corps, Darnold will learn to spread the ball all over the field to lots of different players. Not only will this help his development as a pocket passer. it will also not allow opposing teams as much opportunity to key on a particular receiver and play trick coverages on that guy which lead to turnovers. OL is a potential issue. WR is not. If we were to in the next year or 2 get a true #1 QB we could have the best WR group in the NFL. As it is, a think a group of solid #2 and #3 receivers, with 1 possibly growing into a #1 if he can stop being a blockhead is the perfect group to help Darnold succeed in the NFL.2 points

Orlovsky's opinion is typical "internet group speak". Don't do research then spout something that's not backed up by facts. Enunwa could've easily added that his WR's caught those passes from QB's like Fitzpatrick & McCown but he's too classy to add that fact2 points

No, just no. His knee was destroyed. For that reason alone, any long term plans for Bridgewater are ludicrous. Plus we have him for one year. Are you truly suggesting that if he has a decent season you sign him for $20 million dollars and let Darnold sit on the bench? That is completely idiotic from so man angles it boggles the mind. Bridgewater has 2 values to this team: emergency injury QB and trade bait. PERIOD. Holy fuggnuts. Darnold is 21 and the best QB prospect since Luck. and also our future. He is infinitely more talented than Bridgewater ever was and has the ideal frame to stay healthy for 15 years. And we spent a first and three seconds on him. He is the future. The only thing the Jets do for the next 5 years is devote every ounce of effort to develop Darnold. No other concept makes even remote sense. Bridgewaters ceiling pre-injury is likely Darnolds floor. Even when he was supposedly "good" he was basically McClown. Dumbest post I have read in a while. Jets fans finally get an ultra blue chip QB prospect, and they want to play the broken has been.
