  1. What I wouldn’t give to have Bruce become our OC and work directly with Sam.

Not at first, at least. The coach-turned-CBS broadcaster flipped on the tape to study how the Dolphins defense played against the Jets before their game Sunday against the Raiders when he found himself observing New York’s signal caller. “He can make every throw,” Arians said. “He’s athletic. He’s everything they thought he would be. He’s just going to have to learn.” Arians knows a

  5. IMO, you can't depend on Adams as your prime pass rusher. As a switch off? Sure. Guy I want to see develop as the season goes on is Luvu

  6. I'm going to preface this by saying that I've been very vocal about how much I like Adams. I don't believe a safety should be picked in the first round, but that's a GM issue, not a player issue. Here's the problem with this post: Having 5 safeties on the roster doesn't help us when we can only field 11 players at once. Although using JA to rush the passer has been extremely effective, (1) we're talking about Tyrod Taylor, and (2) it's taking a DB out of coverage. When a competent QB is out there, having JA drop into the box and telegraph that he is blitzing and then having an LB or a bac

  8. It’s short-sighted to deem this PC. Nope. Talking about women getting jobs most typically held by men is politics now? Listen guys, since Goodell took over as Commish he has made a concerted effort to bring the sport to a wider audience. That’s why there are international games. It’s also why they’ve begun experimenting with how to ‘package’ the game. Let’s use a simple metaphor: children’s toys can often be the same product, let’s say a YO-YO. Companies take the toys, make a pink version to target girls, a blue version for boys, and a green version for parents that know

  12. While the Jets 1-2 start may not be exactly the team and their fans were hoping for, there have been a few bright spots in the season’s opening weeks with one of those being highlighted by the folks at Pro Football Focus. According to PFF, Jets starting cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Trumaine Johnson have allowed two of the lowest quarterback ratings when thrown toward their coverage. Claiborne has allowed a meager 16.8 QB rating, while Johnson is fifth in the NFL at 43.5. The post Claiborne, Johnson Earn top Grades From PFF appeared first on JetNation.com (NY Jets Blog &

  13. The kid is going to be a star. Dont care how many picks he throws this year. Let him break a record for all I care. He's the real deal. They just need to build around him. If the Jets can successfully get him the protection and weapons, the kid will win a lot of Football games for the NY Jets. He has it all.

  14. The stupidity of this article is staggering. Bowles HAS to Blitz DBs because they don't have a pass rusher. It they "found their pass rusher", it would free up Adams to....I don't know, play safety?

  20. No it probably is frustration. These players have pride and, while many of them are playing well, they also know that they're playing well despite a horrible defensive scheme almost always putting them in poor positions (not absolving anyone of 3 & 19, but calling a house blitz in that situation is a stupid f*cking call in any scenario; just play zone and don't surrender the first down). You think Trumaine Johnson, a top flight press coverage/Man-to-Man CB enjoyed sitting back in a soft zone last week, 3 defensive drives in a row, because the duo of Bowles and Rodgers wanted to try and b

  21. Boy, this year's version of excuses for "why we suck" have been so amazing and it's only week 3. Toddy-cakes with his "penalties aren't my fault" and "no, no, no, Jamal misspoke, we actually planned for Baker" were rich. Now we got Jeremy Bates's cringworthy "lemme take a shot at the headset reliability while doin' a ha-ha towards the pats to appease Jets fans". And before someone says "bUt He SaId tHaT hE iSn'T mAkInG eXcUsEs", what Bates did was contradict himself. Blaming (even mentioning for that matter) headsets for communication errors and such, is, in fact, making excuses.

  22. Perfect example of why PFF and some number crunching nerd stuff is useful... but only to a point. Apparently it fails to account for when Tru was beaten by four steps for long TDs but was bailed out by lousy throws. And it fails to account for lack of effort towards tackling. Fails to account for bad penalties. Etc. Like my thread last week stated. Tru was a disgrace on TNF vs. the Browns. The nerds can kiss my a$$.

  24. This is true but have you ever heard anyone talk about how many receptions a WR has in regards to their "mileage"? Not really. And I think Bell is one of those unique backs who know how to avoid the big hits and protects himself. He's from the same mold as Curtis, LT, Faulk, James, Smith, Thomas, Forte, etc. All back who probably carried the ball more than Bell and had tons of receptions but played exceptionally well on their 2nd contracts and late into their career. Point being, I dont see Bell slowing down any time soon.

  39. The big problem with Adams and his blitzing is that it is 100% telegraphed pre snap. He comes down to one side or the other early and either pass blitzes or run blitzes. Which works at times but it also removes that safety from any passing defense at all. This stuff works vs the suspect Qbs of this league but will get eaten up by good Qbs and teams.
