  1. I can't imagine anyone was under any delusions that Odell Jr. was the product of good parenting, right?

  2. Several of you guys are well informed. Tay was healthy throughout his USC career, except the very end of his time at USC. If his game translates to the pro level, you guys got a steal. Also, zero drama, high character, quiet kid who just puts his head down and works hard, let’s his play speak for him. He'll earn his targets, not ask for the ball. He’s younger than Sam.

  4. I believe Riely Reiff their LT is out and Danielle Hunter didnt practice yesterday which would be a huge loss for the Vikings. We should put Clairborne on Diggs, double Theilin and bring as much pressure/confusion as possible at Cousins. He has 5 lost fumbles this year so far and hopefully can turn it over a couple times Sunday.

  6. In a move that wasn’t all that surprising as we suggested the possibility of it earlier this week, the Jets have added rookie wide receiver Deontay Burnett to their active roster. Burnett takes the roster spot that opened up earlier today when the Jets cut ties with wide receiver Terrelle Pryor. 7. You ask a big flippen homer her opinion? I'm afraid to say much, but I'm excited he has a chance. I love Tay, I've mentioned before, he's undersized but a very hard worker, a football player with sticky hands, runs great routes and the first WR to arrive for practice, last to leave. Worked extra hours with Sam. Smart player. Reported many times that he could be found catching from that ball machine (forgot the name!) long after everyone else was gone. 8. I think it's likely a combination of factors. He is out for a couple of weeks, we have decent vet depth at WR, he is on a 1 year deal so it's not like he is part of our long term plans, he is given up on a couple of routes early, he has complained a bit, he has a history of being a problem in the locker room.... You add all that up and the Jets probably felt like it was worth the risk to cut him. If he was healthy and ready to play this week, he wouldn't have been cut so it's clearly NOT just a locker room issue. Managing an NFL roster is not always easy.

  10. How Sam Darnold goes from beloved to feared By George Willis Sam Darnold says the Jets have found their identity. Asked to explain that, the rookie quarterback mentioned using a dominating offensive line to establish the running game to set up the pass. That’s what he wants the Jets to be known for. “Our offensive linemen are really establishing the line of scrimmage in these games that we’ve played,” Darnold said Wednesday. “We’ll continue to dominate up front and continue to make our plays on the outside.” That’s the X’s and O’s part of it. The other part of the identity the Jets are trying to build is being a team that’s feared when it plays at MetLife Stadium. The Jets are 3-3 after back-to-back wins in the Meadowlands against the Broncos and the Colts. They’re hoping to sweep their three-game homestand when they play host to the Vikings on Sunday. If Jets fans are falling in love with the first-round pick from Southern Cal, the feeling is apparently mutual. Darnold gushed about the MetLife crowds that helped the Jets beat the Broncos 34-16 and the Colts 42-34. The Vikings come in at 3-2-1 after reaching the NFC Championship game last year. “We want to win every single game we play, but definitely on a homestand,” Darnold said. “Winning every single game we get at home is important because our fans are amazing. It’s awesome to be able to play in front of them. Whenever we make a big score or score a touchdown, to feel the momentum in the arena really shift, it’s awesome to be able to feel that. We’ll continue to grow off of that as a team and ride the wave of energy throughout the game.” Playing the Jets at MetLife has never been an imposing prospect. Darnold hopes it soon will be. “Every single team in the NFL or college or even going back to high school, you want to win at home,” he said. “You have advantages at home that you can’t get anywhere else. You want to win when you’re in front of your fans. That’s key. We have the best fans in the world. It’s awesome to be able to come out in front of them and get W’s. As long as we continue to do that, I think we’ll be all right.” Darnold has continued to show steady growth through six games. Completing nearly 60 percent of his passes, he is 107-of-179 for 1,346 yards with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. He is recognizing defenses at a faster pace and going through his progressions without hesitation. He says he has felt “comfortable” and “prepared” for each game. Most of all, he’s learning how to be a pro. “It’s fun to spend time in the locker room and get used to these guys,” Darnold said. “I also think I’ve grown vocally as a leader. I’m going to continue to be myself, continue to stay within myself and understand how I am as a leader.” He’ll face a Minnesota defense that hasn’t played as well as expected and lost first-round draft pick cornerback Mike Hughes for the season to a knee injury. “For me, it’s just continuing to grow every single week, continuing to grow in the offense and continue to find our identity,” Darnold said. “I think we really have, but just continue to stay consistent and play good football. I’m starting to process information a lot faster. It’s fun. It’s fun to go out there on Sunday and feel comfortable.” It’s fun to be the Jets quarterback. Imagine that. “I wake up every single day looking forward to it,” he said. Maybe one day the Jets will be known as the Monsters of MetLife.

  11. Behind the same line, I don't think Darnold gets hit nearly as much. If the Jets had drafted Rosen, I think we'd be collectively complaining about the OL a lot more than we currently are. Rosen doesn't move well, and he's inaccurate with his throws when he tries. He doesn't have very good pocket awareness. What he does well is throw a pretty ball from a clean pocket. He'll have to learn to feel the rush and adjust better as a pro, but there's only so much improvement I think you can reasonably expect there. Maybe "elite" is too strong a word, but you've definitely got to put a top ten type OL in front of him if you hope to maximize his talents, IMHO. If I'm running the Cardinals, the OL is priority #1-5 for me.

  12. The minute they drafted Chubb and extended Duke Johnson, everyone knew it would be one year and out for Hyde. And they come away with an extra draft pick. Good move by Cleveland.

  24. telling his son to "produce headlines on the field, not off". He posted on Instagram a 2017 video of Mara slamming a chair in the owners box, accompanied with, "This is the owner of the Giants Throwing a chair in his box. He criticized Odell and he does the same? Talk about the The tree acting like the apple". LOL. The Giants are becoming a reality show, and are imploding before our eyes. I love it.

  25. SUPER EXCITED about this move. He was great at USC, great in the preseason, has tons of chemistry with his college QB in Sam. He ran a hamstring hindered slowish 40. He is not slow by any means in game action. PLUS he is the type of receiver we dont really have on the team so far this year. We hugely upgraded the slot position. You have to think he was flashing in camp as well and Jets were afraid of losing him. With no WR signed for next year he is a foundational player for our offense. LOVE this move. Pryor's tweet does suggest a return as well.

  26. He’s more of a high 4.5 or 4.6 guy. He was hurt for the combine and USC pro day. He had a workout with Ronald Jones prior to the draft and ran 4.7, he wasn’t 100% for that workout either.
    3 points
  27. I saw that he ran a 4.7 while dealing with an hammy injury. Reminds me a little of Kearse who isn't the fastest WR but gets open and catches everything thrown his way with the added bonus of having a history of making big plays with Darnold.

  28. He was not well liked by his teammates in both Cleveland and Washington. Obviously, the coaches there didn't like him much either. He must be a massive jerk-off both on and off the field. Just speculating. I'm thinking that a trade is coming our way because I doubt that the coaching staff believes that Burnett can replace Pryor's skills on the field. I don't know, but there is clearly more to this than we know.

  29. Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer To replace WR Terrelle Pryor, who was released, the Jets promoted rookie WR Deontay Burnett from the practice squad. This will give them five receivers for tomorrow against the Vikings. Burnett is a former USC teammate of QB Sam Darnold. Their most memorable game was the 2017 Rose Bowl, when he caught 13 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns against Penn State — the game that vaulted Darnold into national prominence.

  32. Not a fan of the move because Pryor is an ATHLETIC 6'4" Red Zone threat - a great developmental tool for Darnold. He's had a good line thus far this season: Games Receiving Rushing Total Yds Year Age Tm Pos No. G GS Tgt Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng R/G Y/G Ctch% Rush Yds TD Lng Y/A Y/G A/G Touch Y/Tch YScm RRTD Fmb 2018 29 NYJ 1 6 0 22 14 235 16.8 2 44 2.3 39.2 63.6% 6 games, 14 Receptiosn on 22 targets for 235 yards and 16.8 Y/Rec!! w/2 TDs. The fact they flat out cut him only validate the gripes from his former Redskins teammates that Pryor's "locker room attitude" wasn't the greatest; he's burnt some bridges where he's been. There's more to the story than the fact the Jets "need a roster spot." As others stated, there were better candidates to sacrifice than Pryor.

  34. I'm very surprised by this unless he is more of a D-bag than any of us knows. Something about the way his ex-teammates from Washington treated him preseason would seem to suggest that this might be the case.

  35. He's behind only Robby with TD catches, has the same amount of catches as Robby, and is near the top of the WRs in terms of yardage despite getting little to no in game reps compared to the other guys. People are going to justify this because he complained once about being frustrated about his role because he feels like he's made plays in limited action (which he has), but if we sign Rishard Matthews I hope you guys all know that he has an attitude issue 10x worse than Pryor. I'm not a fan of the move. As much as I like Deontay Burnett from his USC days, he's not going to make any difference whatsoever. There is a better chance of him being another Scotty McKnight than anything else of relevance.

  36. Don't like the cut but don't know enough behind the scenes to judge. Pryor is that big, athletic red zone target that every team needs. I guess we can use Herndon or another of the 40 TEs we have but I was warming up to Pryor a lot. I don't think the Pats grab him because they already have Gordon. However, I think there will be interest in him once he's medically cleared. I can't believe there wasn't another way to clear a roster spot if we had any intention of bringing him back so I'm doubtful that happens.

  41. There's always that guy at every game. You're sitting there, trying to enjoy your $20 pretzel and being out of the house for a little bit, then some dude named Logan with a Pearl Jam tattoo that's been tailgating since Thursday and thinks Stella is a craft beer makes eye contact with you, has a mini-convulsion, spilling beer on some kid sitting next to him, and starts yelling "WHADDYA DOIN SITTIN IN THE CHAIR THAT YOU PAID TO SIT IN, DA JETS NEED US" right at you as you're just trying to enjoy a day with your dad. Logan is also the guy that screams "GET HIM!!" at the top of his lungs when he's sitting at a bar on every single defensive play.
