Jets’ fans: freakish numbers mean nothing, I don’t want another Gholston / Stephen Hill. Give me college production. Also Jets’ fans: best pass rusher in college football, sure. But did you see his forty!? 🤷🏼♂️9 points

Ummmmmm if he was so hot why didn’t he show it in games? The combine used to be to make sure guys were healthy and now teams are acting like because a guy can do track and field drills he will be the next LT or something. Playing in games and doing drills are not the same thing! The games and how you performed in those games matter. Please Jets don’t do something stupid. I don’t want to curse this young man with the name of Gholston but this is PRECISELY what the Jets did with that pick when they acquired him! Again if the Jets were to pick this guy let it be in large part because of how he performed on the field!!!!8 points
-
So the player who on the field was clearly the best edge should be passed over because in his first action since surgery, at the combine, he put up similar numbers to Williams? Interesting, as is the idea to a few that he'll be a bust, just because. If hes sitting there and we have the 3rd, we run to the podium and get our pick in7 points

Once the player numbers were no longer an option, the novelty of numbering the pages kinda jumped the shark. Figured the least someone could do was let you know. You're welcome, bud.7 points

Hello again Jet Fans. I been a Jet fan since Namath became the Jet QB. Joe would hang out in my old neighborhood and in fact gave my Godmother his autograph to give me. I am typing my evaluation with my Joe Namath wall frame Picture of him and the Super Bowl Trophy. The Jets have to get better and hopefully it comes sooner than later. Some people make fun of me but I enjoy college football and evaluating the players. I've had way more success picks than bombs and I actually did a 12 year projection of my picks and it showed I really done my work. I hated the Jets picks of Sanchez and Smith and please I argued with Jet fans on here when they got Hackenberg. All three I watch closely and stated that Sanchez should of stood in school, Geno will never throw well in bad weather, and Hackenberg should just went to work on Wall Street. I was right on all three. But that is that. I will now give you my evaluation of centers. Here is my top 16 Centers. This is an excellent year for centers. To start there is a tie for the top center. 1. GARRETT BRADBURY - NORTH CAROLINA ST. - After yesterday performance he showed he is a First Round Center. If you need a center pick him in the first. 1. ERIC MCCOY - TEXAS A&M - I Watched him more times than once this year. He and Bradbury can be All Pro's in a few years. He is that good. And he could play Guard. 3. ELGTON JENKINS - MISSISSIPPI ST. - How good is these centers this year. Well Jenkins before the Combine was tied with Mccoy as best center. Well he is right there with these two. I look at him and I think he is another Dwight Stephenson the Miami Hall of Fame Center. First time in a long time that I have 3 centers that should go in the first round. And we got a few really good ones to go. 4. LAMONT GAILLARD - GEORGIA - YOU Know why I am excited?!!! The Jets could use a Center. And here is another Center that is borderline 1st round grade. This is the man that opened up the holes for that Georgia Ground Game. Jets please draft one of these players !!! 5. NATE DAVIS - CHARLOTTE - LOVE THIS GUY. He is so low to the ground and is like a bulldozer. He was a riser and i think MVP of his team. He also plays guard. For me he is a late 2nd, if someone falls in love with him, but more of an early 3. 6. ROSS PIERSBLACHER - ALABAMA - He was considered one of the best lineman in the country and beat Jenkins for ALL SEC 2ND TEAM CENTER. Gaillard was 1st team . Again like Davis he could go late 2nd or early 3rd. Like Davis he could play guard. THESE 6 CENTERS ARE THE PRIME BEEF OF THIS POSITION THIS YEAR. THERE IS A DROP OFF ONLY BECAUSE MY 7TH BEST CENTER CAN'T PLAY. 7. BRYCE HOLLAND - ARMY - This Player or can I say Solder, is a Warrior. He made the Army Running Game. This kid, if drafted, I would predict once he beefed up a little would be an All PRO Center. He is as perfect as you can get in a run game. And God Bless this Solder for serving his country and protecting our Freedoms. 8. SAM MUSTIPHER - NOTRE DAME - I Seen enough of this player since I am a Notre Dame Fan. How many times did he open holes for his running game even after Bars got injured. He will be a good player for a team. problably go in the 4th round. 9. KEEGAN RENDER - IOWA - Why do I like him?!! Because he played for Iowa and his hall of fame to be head coach was a center. They are just tough and gritty and Render is just that. 10. JOHN KEENOY - WESTERN MICHIGAN - One of the best players in the MAC. He is a bruiser. I like what I seen. There is a 35 second youtube tape of him and he almost knocked out a LB. 11. JUSTIN FALCINELLI - CLEMSON - He was the anchor for that offensive line that took care of Alabama and their top DT. Just for that he deserves to be drafted. I think he will make a team and only get better. 12. JON BAKER - BOSTON COLLEGE - A Tough Hombre - Watch him anchor that offensive line . He is a typical Boston College offensive lineman. Gritty and tough. 9 CENTERS GOT DRAFTED LAST YEAR BUT I REALLY THINK THIS DOZEN CENTERS DESERVE TO BE DRAFTED. EVEN MY NEXT SELECTION MAY GET A SHOT. 13. JORDAN AGASIVA - UTAH - Now Agasiva played guard but he looks like a center. At Utah he was a first team all Pac 12 guard. So how do you become that in a conference like the Pac 12 and not get a shot at the NFL. He is 6:3 320 LBS. Walter Football puts a player like Jesse Burnett in his top 10 centers but says that Burnett got destroyed by Notre Dame. And Burnett didn't receive no Pac 12 honor or mention. I am sorry I watched him this year and on Youtube and he has Potential. 14. NICK ALLEGRITTI - ILLINOIS - Another player who played guard but could also anchor his offense. Have anyone watch this kid play. He has black on his eyes and reminds me of an offensive version of Joe Klecko. How can the NFL not give the passion of this Combatant a chance. I want you to go on Youtube and watch him play. Like I said he plays guard. 15. KIRK BARRON - PURDUE - Anchored that offense that put a beat down on Ohio St. Watch this team a few times and noticed the holes and the protection the QB was gettind. Barron was a good player. He was honorable mention all big 10 team. 16. NICK LINDER - INDIANA - Linber played for a big time high school in Florida and transfered from Miiami. He was really good with Indiana anchoring their line. He has perfect size at 6:3 310 LBS. SO THAT IS MY STRONG LIST OF CENTERS. NEXT IS THEIR PRO DAY BUT CENTERS REALLY DON'T DO ANYTHING EXCEPT LIFT. Again Thank You for viewing this so maybe when draft day you may say lets see what he thinks about that player.6 points

Hello I am going to give you my Guards Evaluation and it is going to seem like An Oklahoma List. They have 4 lineman in my top 21 Guards. This was a good draft for guards. Just like the OTS. So I thank you if you read my list since I watched hundreds of games and now the combine. So here is my list. 1. CODY FORD - OKLAHOMA - A Top 10 pick. He will be an All Pro as a guard or a RT. 2. CHRIS LINDSTROM - BOSTON COLLEGE - A Mid to late 1st round grade. Should go in that spot. 3. MICHAEL DEITER - WISCONSIN - My third guard who for me is a late 1st round grade but in this draft since the WR and DT is incredible he will go in the 2nd. These three are the best Guards out there but there is some real good quality out there. These 3 are the consensus top 3 and deserving. 4. BEN POWERS - OKLAHOMA Some people don't have him here but he is a typical tough guard. If you watched the Oklahoma running backs you understand where I am coming from. late 2nd early third. He is my 4th best guard 5. BEAU BENZSCHAWEL - WISCONSIN - A Typical Wisconsin lineman. Only going to improve. 3rd round 6. DRU SAMIA - OKLAHOMA - Has to get stronger but still a good blocker. Great techique artist. Late 3rd 7. MICHAEL JORDAN - OHIO ST. - 4TH round talent 8. ALEX BARS - NOTRE DAME - IF it wasn't for his injury he probaly go in the 2nd round 4TH ROUND 9. BOBBY EVANS - OKLAHOMA - He will be a better Guard than when he was playing OT. He is way better a run blocker. 4th Round 10. CONNOR MCGOVERN - PENN ST. - 4th to 5th Rd 11. KEATON SUTHERLAND - TEXAS A&M - Pretty good run blocker and was impressive in all star game 5th Rd 12. BUNCHY STALLINGS - KENTUCKY - Real good run blocker Late round pick 5th Rd 13. RYAN BATES - PENN ST. - A NICE PLAYER Nice time at the Combine. Great feet 5th Rd 14, LOSUA OPETA - WEBER ST. - He impressed me at the Combine Late round pick. Looks like a Warrior from the Roman Times. Late 5th early 6th 15. TYLER JONES - NORTH CAROLINA ST - He was a 1st team All ACC Could also play tackle late round pick Late 5th Early 6th 16. LANARD BONNER - ARKANSAS ST. - All Conference 1st team. Could also play tackle late round pick late 6th early 7th 17. TREVOR TATE - MEMPHIS - ALL CONFERENCE 1ST TEAM could play OT 7th 18. HJALTE FROHOLDT - ARKANSAS - looked good at the Combine 7th Another one who is new to the game 19. JEVON PATTERSON - MISSISSIPPI - He was the best recruit as a Guard coming out of High School. He got a 97 rating but he never lived up to it. He needs work but the talent is there. 20. NATE HERBIG - STANFORD - Should of stood in school. He needed refining. 7th 21. PHIL HAYNES - WAKE FOREST - A Real Specimen. He is new to the game since he played basketball. Liked what I saw in the Combine and Wake Forest had a nice run game. If you view my evaluation thank you for your time. Like i said it is my opinion.5 points

The Gholston comparisons are weak. Gholston performed nuts at the combine but he was always considered a mid to high 1st rounder. He had the numbers from OSU to back up his selection, he was just a bust that wasn't athletic enough, smart enough or determined enough to make it happen at the next level. It sucks but it happens. It's not like a Nathan Shepherd situation except with a first rounder. In terms of this kid, yes he has limited production but that was mostly due to injury not lack of talent. In the games he did play, he played well. Does that make it much better? No, because if he is constantly injured and turns into Dee Miliner 2.0 than it's all the same. But there is a lot to like about this kid on tape outside of his combine numbers too. He can high point balls and uses his hands well to make catches. He had a number of impressive one-handers. He could likely use his frame to box out corners and even LBers on short comeback routes. It's also hard to ignore the family history factor, especially after the success of Mahomes last year. These kids used to the pro environment do seem to get a leg up most of the time. I don't think this is a Stephen Hill situation who always had questions about his hands leading into the draft and came out of a gimmick offense. Do I take him @3? I'm not sure. Depends who is there but probably not. His injury history scares me and I'm not sure his physique will play a factor in that. If we trade down and get an extra pick I'd definitely strongly consider it. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app5 points

Exactly. The combine shouldn't take a 3rd round pick and turn him into a top 10 pick because if that player didn't pop in film there is a reason. But it can help separate two relatively equal players. For example if you thought N'Keal Harry and DK Metcalf are similar players the combine could help make you decide between the 2. The problem is that you have guys like Rashan Gary who weren't that great in college but who everyone expected to blow up the combine end up being top 5 picks. Gary could be a GREAT player. But his bust potential is high. Guys like Bosa/Williams played great in college, were consistent AND look really good at the combine. Those are the guys the Jets should be targeting at 3 (if they don't trade down), not guys like Gary/Metcalf. Gary and Metcalf are guys I would take at 15 if we trade down with the Skins.4 points

Josh Allen, and it's not even close. Seven wide receivers were taken in the first three picks over the last 35 years. Three are Hall of Famers. Megatron, Larry Fitzgerald, and Andre Johnson. Not very good odds. Remember Meshawn Johnson?? Oh, by the way, at #3 I'll take Bosa or Q Williams if either one were there. Josh Allen would be my third choice.4 points

The NFL world was watching the scouting combine yesterday and jaws were left agape when the final numbers came in on Ole Miss wide receiver DK Metcalf, who put on one of the more memorable performances in combine history with his rare blend of size and speed. Checking in at 6′ 3” 228 lbs with a body fat percentage that’s virtually impossible at 1.6%, Metcalf registered a 40.5” vertical with the cherry on top being an incredible 4.33 40 time. The effort was so impressive that the Jets tipped their cap to Metcalf through the team’s official twitter account, as seen below. 4.33? At that size? We see you, @dkmetcalf14 pic.twitter.com/Esfc38n1tM — New York Jets (@nyjets) March 2, 2019 Almost immediately after his performance, twitter was abuzz with Jets fans insisting Metcalf had to be the team’s choice with the third pick. An odd proclamation given the fact that virtually nobody had made such claims until watching Metcalf run fast in a straight line. There’s a good chance Metcalf has pushed himself in to the top five of the draft, but it’s a dangerous endeavour when a team starts taking players based on combine numbers in place of college production. Having battled injuries during his time at Ole’ Miss, Metcalf played just 21 games in 3 seasons and was a regular for only his final two seasons. Over those two seasons, Metcalf had 65 receptions for 1,215 yards and 12 touchdowns. He did however show his big play ability in averaging 21.9 yards per catch in his final collegiate season. Won't be able to watch the next couple days, thought i'd share a few things if anyone's interested. RBs Sluggish group. Really put things into perspective. Really is no reason to be spending primo draft capital on a back early Funny how people are bearish on Snell, yet falling over themselves for Montgomery. They tested the same. Compare both tapes and tell me who you trust to translate more in the NFL Damian Harris looked good. Behind the two Bama backs, they're all incomplete prospects. Pick your poison that fits the need/O OLINE I thought they looked strong overall. Robust group of IOL.. No to Jonah. Not unless we're trading way back. He's just not that special. Yes to Bradbury and Nate Davis. TE Meh, i'm not as buzzed as most about this class. Outside of the popular names, the rest are slow and lack upside. Keenen Brown and Josh Oliver are the only ones worth talking about outside of those top 3-4 names. WRs Some wow'd, some disappointing, but most just showed "you are what you are".... which was nice, because there was way too much unchecked man-crushing. Harmon for example, was laughably over hyped as "my WR1" by 1000000 twitter users. That's nice. But try watching the games next time. Not a smooth/natural athlete. Arcega-Whiteside WTF. He hid from his 4.7 while guys like Humphrey showed up and owned their 4.8. I'm done with JJ. Lot of guys pussed out on agility/cone drills. Disappointing. Agents just protecting their paychecks. Butler and Harry surprised. Will make me rethink Harry. Butler, eh - still a stiff WR with sloppy hands, but i think he's showing something. He can help a team win. Small schools owned the day for the most part if you ask me. QBs: Who cares?3 points
-
Can he get more than 4.0 yards per carry, catch the ball, and find the end-zone? Stats say yes. 4.8 ypc, averages 30 rec, 9 TDs last year. That’s, about 4.8 ypc, 30 rec., and 9 YDs MORE than Bell got in 2018. 😛3 points

Slightly prefer QW. I worry about Bosa's health. The elder Bosa misses games regularly. Younger Bosa already possesses a checkered injury history. If we can't trade down, I think I'd prefer QW.3 points

For a team that's lacked an NFL caliber edge-rusher for over a decade, you don't pass up the chance at the best one in college football just for the sake of "stacking picks."3 points

I was about to post this. A “Trubisky flip” could net us a 2nd and a 3rd, and in this scenario we could still score Josh Allen.3 points

No, he's right. The thread is long enough without 100+ posts telling us what page we're on when the pages are clearly listed on the top of every page for anyone interested.3 points

why, cause he ran a 4.4? His so so senior bowl and the years of college film be damned? To talk about him at 3 over the other names is ridiculous. Not when you have literally every Olinemen telling teams that the most difficult player they dealt with was Josh Allen. "He was a nightmare to block".. Jets: yeeaaaaa, we're gonna go with Sweat. On account of that 40.3 points

Gotta agree. WR is one of those instincts-based positions where you can either play it or you can’t and it doesn’t matter how fast you are. There have obviously been plenty of fast guys who sucked, and plenty of guys who run 4.5+ who’ve dominated. As exciting as Metcalf looks, you’ve really gotta wonder if he’s Kevin White.3 points

Right. I could not agree more with what you said. I'm also not "rooting" for him in any way. These guys need to understand the true opportunity this is in life. They earned it of course, but plenty of guys who worked jus as hard never made it. They need gratitude coaches lol I'd also love to see the Steelers standing there with their D*cks in their hands wondering where all of the offers are. "you mean we have to pay this pecker head $21 million?" Sadly this won't happen. Someone will give something valuable to the Steelers fo this guy. It just might be the Jets too.3 points

Now compare their college production. OBJ nearly doubled DK's college production. Comparing just their senior years, it was double. I love these big, strong, fast WRs as much as anyone, but this guy is not someone I'm taking in the first round - even after trading down.3 points
-
Yes it is. I still love him as a prospect, but I just don't know why some people think he is infinitely better than a few of the other really talented WRs in this class. Guys like Brown/Harry/Whiteside/Harmon/Campbell all have excellent traits. None were drastically better or worse than Metcalf when I watched them play in college. Granted, if I had to draft 1, I am probably taking Metcalf as my 1st, but it's really close and if that 3 cone result is true it's going to complicate matters. Edit to add, Quinnen just ran a 4.89 40 which is about as dramatic as Metcalf running a 4.33 in my mind. And I bet Quinnen's 3 cone will be equally impressive. That is why a guy like Quinnen is a better prospect than Metcalf. He has an equally high ceiling but comes with a MUCH higher floor.3 points
-
The biggest issue I have with him is why did Brown outplay him in almost every game. If DK is so amazing he should of dominated the college level and outplayed Brown. Yes DK is an athletic freak but it’s football not crossfit. I’d take Brown over him.3 points

'arthritis' in a knee of an NFL RB? Unheard of I tell you. You can MRI the knees of all the NFL RB's and I guarantee you the majority will have signs of 'arthritis'. Now, if the MDs had said that the 'arthritis' is the result of irreparable ongoing structural damage (causing instability or say loss of adequate cartilage), I might think had more meaning than everyone is claiming it does based on reports of 'arthritis'.3 points

Because there is more to playing WR than combine numbers. The QB throwing you the ball also makes a difference as well as your route running ability. You can run a 4.3 but if you run a route wrong it can erase that speed. What the combine numbers tell us is that if given the right set of circumstances the player can perform at a certain level. Honestly I think Metcalf is a freak and with Darnold and some decent coaching he can be a total beast here. Wouldnt mind him being picked third at all. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app3 points

Why? He wasn't a beast in college. He wasn't even the best WR on his team. Now that he won the bathing suit and decathlon portions of the combine you guys start squealing like 16 year old girls on a beach with him. Take a cold shower Joe. We're not taking him at 3.3 points

Who we take or don't take at 3 will depend on FA. I think the Jets will address RB, Oline and Edge in a meaningful way in FA. To a lesser extent CB and WR will be addressed. As far as DK is concerned college production is overrated. There are many times the best college WR's are terrible in the NFL. Comparing him to Stephen Hill is stupid. Hill physically looked like a little boy in the NFL, DK is built like a man. DK also showed a very good ability to catch with his hands today and Hill was a body catcher. There really is no comparison. If DK continues to impress with his routes and hands at his pro day and official visit he is very much in play at 3. Pairing him with Enunwa and Herndon would make for a really imposing trio to go against and three big body guys for Darnold.3 points
