  1. Gase hate is odd. He was, and is, one of the game's smartest coaches (fwiw) and he was stuck coaching the very bad and disorganized Miami Dolphins under known goon Mike Tannenbaum. He got Maccagnan out, (effectively) hired Douglas away from the Eagles, cowed the NY media (who came embarrassingly harrrrd after him), and appears to recognize the road to respectability begins and ends with Sam Darnold and not the sluggish DE's or the bozo safety. What's been even more encouraging is that, for a guy who's supposed to be an egomaniac, he hasn't gone out and nuked the salary cap looking for "his" pl

  2. What a weird random thought to have - and share. I try very hard not to play my life out in the future. Be present. It’s July. No need to feel good/bad about football today. At all.

  3. Like many I was up in arms over the Gase hiring. I hated it...everything about it. But amazingly, I'm now a huge believer that this guy just might be nuts enough to exorcise all the demons we've had to deal with forever. He got Macc bounced, which got us a front office the likes of which we've never had, and the more I watch and observe of this guy the more I like him. So I figured I'd start a thread for others like me that have had a change of heart and are kinda all in and fired up about Gase. Count me in. Can't believe I"m saying it but I'm a believer!

  4. Jets Fan till I shuffle off this mortal coil. 40 years in. I couldn't root for another team now even if I wanted to do so. And I don't (well, maybe a Richmond Generals expansion team in the NFC maybe....., lol).

  5. When it came time to hire a new head coach, I wanted a young, offensive-minded guy with head coaching experience. That’s what the Jets have in Gase, so I’m willing to roll with him. When a coach comes in with previous experience, you hope he learned something at his last stop. The fish are a poorly owned and managed franchise, and he saw the same thing here with the Jets and cleaned house before he ever coached a game. Quite the impressive coup. Have to respect that. He seems to know that he’s got a genuine potential franchise QB, and because of him, directly, the Jets have maybe the bes

  6. So why are you on a message board, again? By this logic, you should be reading Schopenhauer and eating haggis after a long day picking berries, not wasting your precious time speculating or bloviating (as you would say) on imponderables of football.

  7. It’s like I found 100 rolls of Charmin and I have totally wiped the butt slate clean. Baby wipes too. I am totally on the Gase bandwagon. 14 years, him and Sam, 7 Super Bowls. No cheating.

  15. My last run was about 8 months ago. It was across a huge parking lot to find a crapper after too much taco bell. I can't take it any more. I'm sooooo done with running. (Not taco bell) I just wear depends now and I'm worry free.

  16. Good thing. Your last run is going to last about 12-14 years.

  17. Does it make any difference in any way if fans "give Gase a clean slate" or not, whatever that means? If we all say yes, will Gase be better? If we don't, will he be worse? I didn't like his hire, and still don't. If he wins, I'll like it alot more. If he loses, I won't. Pretty much like every coach that came before him. It doesn't matter what I think of him, it matters what he does for us.

  19. Not this season specifically but this “era”. If Darnold doesn’t pan out I’m out. Sorry, but we’ll never be in a better position than we are now. If this kid can’t make it work then this organization is cursed to suffer for eternity. The idea of rebuilding again sounds exhausting and futile. I’ve never been more excited for a regime/season in 25+ years of watching. If this doesn’t work nothing will.

  20. Lance Mehl's post-playing career seems as if it were destined to be a script for one of those Saturday morning television shows aimed at a young teenage audience. After retiring in 1988 because of constant pain in his right knee, the former Jets linebacker became a juvenile detention court officer. But he is not just any juvenile detention court officer. Oh, no. When a kid steals a car, gets caught smoking marijuana or something of that sort, and the judge decides this kid is close to going to juvenile detention

  22. You hypocrites masturbate to a non-stop self-promoting strong safety with one career garbage-time interception but yes certainly a sassy 22 y/o QB who played like Drew Brees would certainly be beyond the pale.

  24. I think Gregg Williams was pushed onto Gase by Chris Johnson and Mike Maccagnan. They wanted to make both coordinator hires for Rhule, which is why those negotiations fell apart. Williams will be a culture shift after four years of Bowles' laid back style, but I don't expect him to last here more than two seasons.

  25. I don't understand this fascination with Mayfield. It's not like the Jets had a chance to draft him, and we got a damn good QB in Darnold, who most "experts" felt was a better prospect and that would have a better career. I don't need Mayfield to be bad to make myself feel better about having Darnold. I just need Darnold to be great and make the Jets a perennial playoff team. Fingers crossed.

  28. Bye Felicia. But seriously, It does get painful, I get it and i'm not going to lie, but I could never abandon ship. I never contemplated. That belief was solidified for me when the Eagles won the Superbowl. All my life my dad, who is a very well reserved person, doesn't show much emotion when it comes to sports outside of yelling when something bad happens. Winning games he is usually "content". But when they won a superbowl, I saw a side of my dad I haven't seen in my life, and knowing the absolute joy he felt from that win after so suffering so long from being t

  29. The problem I have with this view is completion percentage is not directly related to a QBs accuracy. A 65% passer is not necessarily a more "accurate" passer of the ball. Accuracy percentage is really a function of the offensive scheme, QB decisions, WR drops and situational passing. It does not really say much at all about ball placement, how catchable the ball is, pace and timing all which contribute to how "accurate" a QB throws a ball. A ball can be accurate but batted down, difficult to catch (in certain situations a perfectly thrown ball can be very difficult to catch especially i

  31. Giants fans weren’t happy with Mayfield’s comments and fired back at him on Twitter. Haha he just can't help himself... keeps stirring the pot... This team has disaster written all over it God knows I HATE the giants, and especially their fans, so to a certain extent, I agree with Mayfield. this is kind of a win-win to me. anything negative to/about the giants is a plus, and again I feel we dodged a bullet with this guy being drafted by the Browns. I can't even imagine if he was here and saying this crap about the giants! it would be l

  32. I just want Miami to regret firing Gase.... However that works out. I want it to be the worst decision that Miami has ever made in their franchise. That's all, make Miami suffer as they did to the Jets throughout the Shula/Marino era. Not too much to ask right? Haha.

  33. Exactly. I’m always surprised when people go off on a “Rosen sucks” thing. Of all the ‘18 rookie QBs, he was the one who was put in the worst situation. It really was a shame. Should be another tough situation this year, with him in Miami. Are they really going to tank for a QB in ‘20? If so, the kid is screwed again and could be on a 3rd team in 3 years. I want to root for him, but that would entail the Fins doing well. So that’s not happening... but the kid deserves a fair shake.

  34. I'm willing to give him a chance because he forced Mac. I thought this franchise would be cursed with Mac for another 5 years watching Darnold rot with the poor personell decisions Mac makes. I wasnt big on Gase but because he forced Mac out he gets a clean slate with me.

  41. Because you don’t pay 31 year olds who are strictly returnmen almost $4 million a year. The guy was simply an above-average KR/PR prior to last season with little to no value as a receiver. Just like you don’t pay $4-5 million a year to bring back Jason Myers, who was incredibly inconsistent throughout his entire career prior to ‘18. Actually has missed more XP’s than any other kicker in the NFL since entering the league.

  43. Run blocking does not effect the accuracy of a pass. Pass blocking can of course, if your QB is on the run all day long (as Darnold at times was), the QB will naturally be less accurate (a point I've not really seen raised yet, surprisingly, as it almost assuredly was a factor as well in Darnold's 57%). The 3rd and Long could be a thing as well, we'd have to see if we were in third and long, or ran more often on 1st and 2nd, than most other NFL teams. I simply don't have those stats at hand to support that argument, but it wouldn't surprise me if that were a factor as well. I don't thi
