  1. That's my QB!! The whole not giving him an edge no matter what, is a bit silly but I do like that he denied the request. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - The request was somewhat innocuous. Drew Brees had already said yes. Deshaun Watson. Stefon Diggs. Right along with Eric Ebron and a handful of other NFL players. But Sam Darnold was holding out. Something about this appeal wasn’t hitting him right. Would you wish Tom Brady a happy birthday for a video clip being put together? The request came during a commercial shoot in July in Los Angeles. Darnold was going through some soci

  2. Gettleman is doing a fine job, as a Jets fan I approve of his work. I’d especially like to thank him, for the none Drafting of Sam Darnold.

  5. I say it every time a Cowherd thread comes up. Whether Jets related or not, he is the smartest guy in sports radio IMO. He doesn't take phone calls on his show because he doesn't need them. He offers original, intelligent opinions with clever analogies. He has a segment to admit when he is wrong. He says "people overestimate what they know." And that too many 'have crackpot theories.' And he's right...

  6. "Because the Jets are coming off a 7-9 season and sure seem like they are going all-in to make a playoff push this season. But that might be easier said than done, thanks largely to the unfortunate manner in which the schedule-makers set up the Jets' season." In what year or what Universe did the Jets come off of a 7-9 season?

  11. Link is below. Have also posted some exceprts, but will not post entire article since it is pay site. Don't want to get @Maxman in trouble by posting the whole thing. Phil - let me know if I need to delete the exceprts below, or if it would be ok to post entire article. https://theathletic.com/1117623/2019/08/07/adam-gase-has-his-eyes-on-much-bigger-things-for-the-jets/ Long article but defintiely worth the read if you subscribe.

  13. True, but if Baker did it he would have given the reporter a choice sound-byte about not kissing rings (like Rex.) Darnold is smarter than that, which is why it's such a substanceless story.

  14. If you read the whole article, you find out that the source for the story found out Freddie Kitchens fired him from his daughter while he was in the hospital for a serious leg injury, so yeah, no doubt there's a few sour grapes in there. Still, his conclusion on the Kitchens hire is the same one I had: that Dorsey wants to run the whole show and not be challenged. The Browns are his team, not the head coach's. Much like the staff Bowles put together, where there wasn't anyone there who could serve as interim coach.

  17. Cowherd takes some odd positions at times but he always goes all in and they're almost always well thought out, even if I don't agree. I have really grown to like listening to him over the last few years. At least he isn't following the trail of negative breadcrumbs like some so-called journalists we have to deal with.

  18. I cant figure out the gettleman hate. He drafted himself a generational running back. Traded odell who is a total headache and got a 1st rounder back. And he got a franchise qb to replace eli after this year. He did exactly what a gm needs to do to rebuild a team and did it quickly.

  21. https://thejetpress.com/2019/08/06/new-york-jets-matt-bryant-wants-end-teams-kicking-woes/ New York Jets: Matt Bryant wants to end team’s kicking woes by Paul A. Esden Jr. The New York Jets are dealing with some serious kicking woes. Veteran free-agent kicker Matt Bryant would like to help the green and white. Things couldn’t be going much worse for the New York Jets kicking competition in 2019. The team literally went from the first Pro Bowl kicker in team history to a reject this offseason. Last year the Jets found some guy named Jason Meyers off the scra

  22. Given our history, I can dig it. I'm confident in saying that because I was never a fan of Pennington (was too young/didn't follow CFB to argue with drafting him) and hated the drafting of Sanchez, Geno and Hack, so it's not like I've ever felt duped before. I kind of knew what we had in those guys even if others fell for them. Sam is the only QB the Jets have ever had (other than the lone Favre year) in my lifetime that I'm full on excited for. I've fallen hard, and I'm excited. I don't need Baker's rookie year thrown in my face every time I want to share that excitement with fellow Jets

  23. I don't think the OP of this thread is that guy. The Browns have become a national story thru Hard Knocks, going from 1-31 over two seasons to 7-8-1 with a brash, record-setting rookie QB, and entering this season with sky-high expectations behind a head coach who started last season coaching the RBs. If Jets and Browns fans are lucky, Mayfield/Darnold could shape up to be a rivalry of Brady/Manning proportions. Of course there are comparisons, and competitions, but I don't see the need to frame the narrative like it's delusional Darnold lovers. Two, three, four QBs go high in a dr

  26. If you think our QB not kissing the rings is nothing then I guess we agree to disagree. To me it finally feels like we have a QB who knows what it is to be a JET. Done with the back seat, 2nd fiddle stuff. Time to kick some ass.

  27. He’s called out Mayfield for the immature goofy sh*t that he’s done like drunkenly trying to run from the cops, grab his dick and shout “f*ck you” at the opposing teams sideline on national TV (and then break down and cry about it at a press conference the next day), throw a football at a couple of TCU players during pre-game, etc. Mayfield is talented, and he’s also an emotional cripple. Not exactly a trait you look for in a franchise QB. Cowherd has repeatedly said that Mayfield has the talent and especially the accuracy to be a good NFL QB, but he wouldn’t have had him on his pers

  28. The guy is a genius compared to the dickbags like Max Kellerman, Stephen A Smith, Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe, etc that make up the rest of ESPN and FS1’s major programming. At least Cowherd doesn’t take goofy stances just to stir the pot or crack lame ass jokes every second. Him being one of the few sports analysts/pundits who doesn’t wax Mayfield’s balls constantly has given him a bad rep for whatever reason.

  29. That's why radio jockeys should just report the news instead of being a fan of the team. Fat Fran hates the Jets, always has & none of us should get sucked in now that he's complimenting the Jets and the moves they've been making. Sorry Mike, we don't give a f*ck what you think. He's just separating himself from what he knows is team fighting the Redskins for 3rd place in the NFC East.

  37. As I've recounted numerous times (and it's frankly getting tedious), I had no issue with Baker pre-draft. I just can't wait till people like you and others let Jets fans live on a Jets fan forum without feeling the ridiculous need to promote/"defend" Baker in every freaking thread. At this point, the quicker Baker and the browns become irrelevant, the quicker this sh*t stops, which is why I'm now pulling hard for the browns to crash and burn...whether it's because of baker, OBJ, Kitchens, Dorsey. Whatever. We had a poster on here who was so obsessed about Baker that he literally started d
