  1. Mosley opting out definitely was a big hit. But the performance of Gregg Williams and the defensive staff last year gives me confidence in the scheme he'll come up with. Personally I think the following players will be the keys: Avery Williamson - I thought he was a luxury and expected him to be cut loose. I'm glad I was wrong, I would expect him to move into Mosley's spot and make the defensive calls. With him missing 2019 you forget how productive he was, he had a terrific 2018 https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/16920/avery-williamson Bradley McDouga

  3. I kind of read that as saying “why don’t the coaches and staff have these social restrictions too, we can’t be in a bubble so they need to just as careful as we do” I see those tweets as Mosley being very concerned.

  6. Mosley's going to be really upset when the Jets win the super bowl without him. Adams too.

  7. Winters is a good locker room guy that gave us everything he had. Poor bastard has played through injuries for the past 3 years. He bought a big house in the area and has kids, he ain't going anywhere. They'll be bringing him back

  10. Exactly. Thank you. At least someone agrees with my take here. I'm thinking a lot of this Mosley rage is pure fan-selfishness. Everyone ascribing bad motives to him. His past tweets showed tremendous concerns for what actions the NFL was going to take, not only for players, but also for the rest of the team's staff

  11. Some of you guys give Sam zero credit. The kid went 7-6 recovering from Mono with one of the worst rosters in football come on the kid can play flat out, and is the best player before Adams and Mosley departed.

  12. I read this differently. You said he didn't seem concerned. I think he was just talking about the reality of the situation and the difference between the NBA and NFL. He's not saying the NFL shouldn't be in a bubble....he's saying that they can't. It's a matter of practicality. Players + Coaches + Staff of about 125 people x 32 teams = 4,000 people minimum. And you want them to all live around a single stadium and do what, play 16 games on the same field one right after the other? Then sit around all week finding times and places for these 32 teams to practice where they won't inter

  13. Mike Maccagnan built the defense from the inside out, as if it were still 1958. Football teams don't collapse because of the loss of MLBs or SSs in 2020. Jets have a lot of good depth at ILB, and on the front 7 in general. Losing Mosley sucks, as he was expected to be a big piece, but I'm still more concerned about the CBs and Edge rushers on this year's team.

  14. Money aside.... he might have been the best player we drafted that year . We had 2 first round picks. Winters contributed more than any player in our 2013 draft. Ill always respect him for that.....

  15. When Winters was healthy he was really solid. Problem was he was never healthy.

  16. Obvious this was coming when the Oline preview video on the Jets website last week mentioned guys like McDermott but made absolutely no mention of Winters. Maybe the Jets are going to spend some of the Mosley (and Winters) money on a new addition after all.

  17. Drove down to Indy for that one. DIdn't expect us to win, as Indy was the better team. I started to get hopeful as we took the 17-6 lead in Q2. Until Peyton led the 2 minute drive to cut our lead to 4. He went through our D so easily that I knew we were in trouble heading in to the 2nd half. Then Shonn Greene went down on the opening drive in the 3rd quarter and we never were able to establish our ground and pound the rest of the way. The loss the next year in Pitt was much more disappointing. Really thought we had the better team heading into that one.

  18. According to PFF, it is Foley Fatukasi. His 2019 grade of 81.6 is highest on the team. Followed by Steve McLendon and Brian Poole.

  20. His tweets come off as criticizing the NFL for not doing all they can to protect his health. It sounds like he's legitimately concerned about getting Covid. I don't travel often or spend my days in close proximity to 120 people and I'm still nervous about being exposed to Covid. I'm very careful about social distancing and wearing a mask if I'm going to be near people in public. Nobody should be ridiculed for opting out. And if you are ridiculing someone for that you're a selfish dick. You idiots are acting like you're cutting his check. Grow the **** up.

  21. The hate for him is funny to me. he was a very good G but couldn't stay healthy and playing thru some injuries like he did was admirable but his play suffered, We can only hope Lewia and Van Roten play at a healthy Winters level.

  23. Seems like he was very concerned about COVID. Mosley, by all accounts, loves football and showed great leadership even while injured last season and in the offseason. He's the last guy I expected to opt out. But he clearly is very concerned about the virus, so he took the option that the NFL and NFLPA presented the players with. As a fan, it sucks, but as a human it's entirely understandable.

  32. When he said he didn't like the social rules prohibiting players going out plus didn't want a bubble like the NBA. What did he need to spell it out for you word for word to get what he was implying? A bubble would have prevented him from sitting out while still collecting his 10 million bonus.

  36. I dont think he's irreplaceable, I am still annoyed though. He is definitely a difference maker on the field and one of the top MLB in the game, but 2 years off football? What kind of player is he going to be when he gets back? thats the issue to me. We offset the contract by a year so he has 4 more years after this? and no football for 2 seasons, I dont know. Just doesnt seem good to me.

  37. ILB has a ton of depth and experience in this system bc of last year. It's the last position on defense I'm worried about. Without Adams and Mosley (who didn't play last year) the Jets still have a stronger overall defense. The Linebacker group is better than last year, the defensive line is the same and hopefully better if Quinnen can improve, the CB's are better and the safeties are a little worse than they were last year. Overall the defense has so much more depth and experience than a year ago. Idk why people are freaking out.
