  1. Show me on the field. I've heard this story a few times already.

  2. He's a good kid, the Jets had to move on but his honesty is refreshing. He really wanted to be here but it just didn't work out. Blame is on CJ for hiring Gase. Still baffles me that you have a young QB and no QB coach. The young QB gets his own offseason QB coach and the head coach doesn't have a single conversation with that guy. Think about this, Darnold lived with Palmer and worked out through quarantine. Not a single word, update, suggestion or feedback from the offensive minded head coach. That is as terrible as his coked out press conference.

  3. https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/04/12/mmqb-brandon-staley-building-relationships-chargers-sam-darnold-trade Going through the Darnold process was really good for the Jets’ new powerbrokers. Through it, Joe Douglas and his top lieutenants (Rex Hogan, Chad Alexander and Phil Savage) had a great shot to see up close what Saleh and his coaches value in players. “No doubt,” said Douglas, when we talked Wednesday. “Obviously, you’re excited about Robert. And then you’re excited about this great staff of hires and teachers he’s bringing in. And then you’re excited about the defensive scheme,

  4. Can we all admit that we have zero clue who will be better between Wilson and Fields? They’re both very talented but flawed prospects. I’ll be happy with either. The insane tribalism between the two camps has become a bit much.

  5. Good for him. Hope he has a long and successful career. Looking forward to seeing Zach and Sam facing each other in a Jet-Panther SB.

  8. Sam is a great person. Was steady throughout his tumultuous time here. I'm sure we'll always follow his career but let's try to not to be obsessed with it. I am turning the page to the future. Really with the entire Jets past. Let's look ahead with hopeful optimism. The team has never felt more different from top down and this is actually a really exciting time to be a fan of this team.

  9. He’s always been honest and straightforward. He planned on being in NY forever and be hurt to know they didn’t want him. He probably also knows he didn’t produce to the level he would want to. Wish him well, but not if Zach Wilson sucks, then I need him to at least suck too. Oh and fields to suck.

  12. We do have the same general manager that surrounded Sam Darnold with other team's backups on the OL, let our only talented WR walk away for nothing and fielded the worst group of offensive players I've, honestly, ever seen. You can make all the excuses you want for JD but as of right now he's added a #2 WR to the worst offense in the NFL - and hasn't upgraded the worst OL I've ever seen. A lot can change between now and then but as of right now Peter King has every right to question what the Jets will do to support Zach Wilson.

  13. I know we are turning the page, but some may be interested in his comments post trade. https://www.panthers.com/news/sam-darnold-walking-into-a-good-situation-carolina The last week of Sam Darnold's life has been a little bit of a blur. So when he landed in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon to begin the next chapter of his football career, the new Panthers quarterback admitted he was still sorting out the way he felt about the trade that brought him from the Jets, an abrupt change to his career plan. "There's a little bit of both — relief and excitement," Darnold

  15. “Zach Wilson marries hot brunette he took to prom instead of attending Draft Event” I hate this kid, he makes big decisions too quickly. Why don’t you think THINK THINK kid? Ehh? Hell is wrong with this guy? I hope he isn’t the pick. He’s already displaying he doesn’t care about ball enough.

  18. I don't profess to possess the acumen to qualify me to make the selections for the Jets (although I know I would have done much better than Idzik or Maccagnan), but basic knowledge tells me that the Jets must draft offensive lineman this year, particularly since they are selecting a QB with the second pick. We saw what happened to Joe Burrow. We saw what happened to Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl. Even Aaron Rogers struggled when his OL was mediocre. We have five picks in the first 100 and another pick at 107. We have to pick at least one OL and preferably 2 OL with the first 5 picks.

  19. Sam Darnold is a good dude and its a shame things just didn't work out here. I like many others thought we were set at QB and he was the franchise QB we all wanted for years. It just didn't work out. Adam Gase destroyed any chance we had of salvaging him after Todd Bowles was fired. I hope Adam Gase never works in the NFL again.

  20. 100%. It’s like a mass regression to sports card trading in middle school. Rich Eisen had a funny clip on his show there talking about how 99% of Jets fans right now are ready to die for Wilson, and none of them have watched a BYU game from start to finish. “It’s crazy”

  21. Mr. @32EBoozer sent in his pick. And it's the pick EVERYONE has been waiting for.... wait for it... With one of their very few picks in the draft the NO Saints select.... Tommy Tremble TE, Fighting Irish And that ends the 3rd round @kdels62 you may have been sniped and you are OTC @Integrity28 on deck

  22. Great to read. Theres no denying that every word of that is meaningless if it doesnt translate to the field, but this organization has not had a GM, HC and staff all on the same page as far as I can remember. Culture in a organization is a real thing, and when you see JD's team and Saleh's team all working together it increases the chances of hitting on free agents and draft picks.

  23. Actually I dont ever remember a GM gushing over the staff his pick at HC put together. That a staff is united in what they want to teach and how. This feels different.

  24. I don't get it. What do you expect? We have been horrible at the QB positions for a lot more years than we were good. Now that we just jettisoned the latest one, what do you expect these guys to write about. And as the Mark Schreleth <sp> said, anyone who expects the guy we take with the second pick to fix this mess really is fooling themselves. You don't nearly go winless just because your QB sucks.

  25. Agreed. I don’t even “love” Fields to be honest, I’ve just grown tired of hearing some of the stuff thrown his way when it’s completely unfounded. The same with all the “love” for Wilson, that hype train got up and rolling quickly and hasn’t slowed down, and it’s apparently hit quite a few people in its journey so far. There’s stuff to like, but also lots to be concerned about. I’m FAR less concerned with who the QB pick will be than I am about how the rest of the roster will be filled out. Ultimately the success of whoever is drafted will be determined by many other factors.

  26. When it is all said and done, and assuming Sam goes on to have a solid NFL career, we will look back at that idiot Chris Johnson hiring Gase and the real reason things didn't work out. I don't put this on Douglas at all. He did what he had to do based on the situation he found himself in. The real culprit has to be Johnson. That said, I have personally turned the page as yet another era is about to begin. Hopefully this one turns out to be better than the last.

  30. Lol...we’ve had some of the best football discussions here in the draft forum over the last decade or so. Rarely does everyone agree on prospects but it doesn’t resort to the thin skinned responses we see here today. Mostly really good debate and sharing of info. I love the “go do your homework” and “go watch some tape” stuff, looks like this forum has finally been infected, took a long time though, it was a good run.

  33. This. Joe Douglas has proven nothing. Nothing. My mom could make a list of expensive players and cut or trade them away. The actual skill is picking great players in the draft and recruiting great players in free agency. We no gots. And the article says Wilson faces a tough "heritage". As in the past. He doesn't say he faces a tough 'future'. Which is funny because the same people that were quick to pull the Gase trigger are giving Douglas every benefit of every doubt even though he took a 7-9 team and made it 2-14. SAR I

  34. I'm shocked you even posted this article, you knew the usual Zachapono Ballwashers would run in here in be the first to make sure that you knew it was unacceptable to discuss him in a favorable manor. The only net positive out of this one is it exposes the truth, which we all knew was underlying but heavens forbid you call it out. Well, didnt need to this time! These dudes have literally, ruined this site. The draft topics used to be by far, the best conversation on this board unitil the Zachapono Ballwashers joined forces to STOP THE STEAL, errr, I mean, give hard hitting objective a

  35. Yes, you and the other guy can figure out a person's politics by the draft prospects they like and dislike. This is the kind of hard hitting analysis that keeps this place going. None of us know on a given play what the pre determined read was for Fields unless we have the Ohio State playbook and know how Day and his staff coach a particular play (unless you also have an insider connection at Ohio State as well). The best any of us can do is look at general practices when it comes to a given play call and watch the quarterback's helmet to see if it is moving and scanning the field. There

  39. We are heading into the most exciting time to be a Jet fan... Maybe the most exciting in years... Aggressive, young GM, new highly touted HC, the 2nd pick in the draft to be used on an elite QB prospect... WE should all be united behind the fact that things are looking up... But... Instead... Every other thread devolves... Arguing... Vitriol... Name-calling... In-fighting... First, it was Anti-Gase vs Pro- Gase... Then, Anti- Darnold vs Pro- Darnold... Now, Anti- JD vs Pro- JD... Anti- Wilson vs Pro- Wilson... Anti- Fi

  40. This. The sh*t people say about either player and when one or both become good players, we're just gonna act like nothing was said. And normally that's fine, but some of the sh*t being said is unhinged, deranged and over the top. Like relax. It's easy to be a keyboard scout but it ain't that serious and you're not a ******* expert.

  41. Imagine both Sam Darnold (Panthers) and Leonard Williams (Giants) earning a trip to the Pro Bowl next season.

  42. It’s like most forget Lawrence and Fields have been 1A and 1B since like Junior year HS now all of a sudden everyone wants to sh*t on him to prop up Wilson is what I’ve seen. These kind of stories are the minority if you ask me. Crazy how 3 months of amazing play vs some of the sh*ttiest competition trumps 5 years of amazing play vs some of the toughest competition
    5 points
  43. Wilson is probably going to bust. If he doesn’t great. Fields is a lower risk because of the competition he faced. The people that say oh well the team he played on was talented as well, guess what he was a huge part of that talent advantage. Data also shows that his play is significantly different than previous OSU QBs. Both can bust but fields would be better choice. Deshaun Watson had the same thing happen to him in his draft. Herbert as well. Wilson is the trubisky of this draft as a prospect. Definitely better arm talent but actually potentially worse competition.

  45. Please, so he’s propping Fields up because he’s black? So everyone is going to run with the whole “Fields only threw to his second read 7 times” mantra? Other than a handful of posters around here, this place has become unbearable during this draft cycle.

  46. But you don’t really know what these RBs will become, that’s the larger point. The bust rate of 1st round RBs is higher than most positions. Rashaad Penny, Sony Michel, Leonard Fournette, Bishop Sankey, Gio Bernard, etc. Meanwhile, the injury history makes even the “hits” not worth it. The shelf life is just too short. Saquon Barkley and Todd Gurley come to mind there.
