  1. Gruden is a piece of sh*t but this is clearly a co-ordinated attack. The fact that he was so comfortable putting those words on record probably speaks to the culture in league circles. I have no doubt this is pretty commonplace. He deserved his fate but given the NFL lets people get away with heinous sh*t that directly causes far more harm it’s pretty hypocritical to single him out. Imagine two years ago being told that Jon Gruden would be banished from the league while Antonio Brown is being celebrated by every dipsh*t announcer as a guy who fought through “adversity” to become a success story. Garbage league run by crooks and assholes.

  2. I preface by saying that am 47 years old, and have never seen the Jets win a Super Bowl. Some of you may have. My father did. But I did not. When I was a boy, I listened to my Dad talk of Joe Willy Namath, Emerson Boozer, Matt Snell, and Don Maynard. My imagination soared as he spun tales of "The Guarantee", and how the underdog Jets took down Unitas and his mighty Colts. My first memories are of Freeman McNeil, and Joe Klecko...then the Sack Exchange. Loved Marty Lyons, Greg Buttle, Mickey Shuler, and Pat Leahy. In '82, we almost made it. But Don Shula decided it would be best to play in Mud. Hate AJ Duhe to this day. Remember cursing and yelling at the TV...which accomplished 2 things: 1) A swift and decisive punishment of grounded for a week Mr. 2) Sealed my fate as a lifetime Jets fan. Over the years, I've often asked myself why I stick with them. Through all the heart ache and heart breaks. Through all the crappy GM's, all the crappy coaches, all the crappy QB's....why? Best I can come up with is this: There are some things in life you just have no control over. I did not choose the Jets, rather the universe chose them for me. I cannot leave, and I can't not watch. I'm in, through thick and thin. I BELIEVE that one day, my fandom will be rewarded. What keeps me going is how freaking sweet that one, special, glorious day will be. I post this today, as an alternative to everything else I see on this board lately. Go Jets.

  4. You are, but private companies aren’t bound by first amendment rights. I never understand the way people conflate our protected rights as citizens with getting fired as consequence saying dumb, hateful sh*t.

  8. The lede is getting buried in all this. The Redskins were essentially pimping out their cheerleaders. Gruden gets fired for being an idiot good old boy. But Snyder still owns a team?

  9. LOOKS PRETTY DAMN GOOD ALREADY Alijah Vera Tucker Bryce Hall Brandon Echols Braden Mann Bryce Huff (UDFA) LOOKING GOOD, WE SHALL SEE Javelin Guidry (UDFA) Michael Carter Michael Carter Jamien Sherwood MORE SAMPLE SIZE, BUT STILL LOTS OF HOPE Denzel Mims Elijah Moore Mekhi Becton Zach Wilson WAIT AND SEE Ashytn Davis Hamsah Nasirildeen Jonathan Marshall DOESN'T LOOK SO GOOD Cameron Clark Lamical Perrine NO GO Jabari Zuniga James Morgan I get it.....we haven't gone to the Super Bowl yet, so we should probably be looking at replacing JD. I mean, it HAS been one year for the first draft and 5 games for the second draft, so we SHOULD be leading the division by now, but I still hold out hope.

  12. He also spent a whole season referring to Terry Glenn as "she." If this happened today, there would be Twitter outrage calling for him to be cancelled for misgendering. Then Bill would hire a crisis manager who would blame PTSD suffered as a result of the body-shaming nickname "Tuna" (which was a reference to his dad body). We all have the responsibility as members of a society to treat others with dignity and respect. This does not mean we cannot have opinions or even criticisms of others and their believes/choices/lifestyles but we must not deny anyone's humanity when we do so. This also includes recognizing that people can and will make mistakes, especially when the standards of today are retroactively applied to words shared 10 or more years ago. This is not a defense of what Gruden said but rather an indictment of weaponized faux outrage. As usual the useful idiots in the media and on Twitter are playing right into the NFL's hands to distract from likely darker and more disturbing revelations contained in those tens of thousands of emails. My analogy with social evolution is similar to the expanding knowledge of science. Denigrating someone from the past for being a piece of trash human based on today's standards is like calling Isaac Newton an idiot because he had less knowledge about physics than Stephen Hawking. (This last paragraph is a general comment, not specific to Gruden).

  13. PT.2 What really bothers me is these Men who act like Ned Flanders. You know, the guys who are acting appalled by John Gruden's behavior? These are the same types of guys who make sure they always say the right thing on message boards to act pretentious and holier than thou. These guys never punched anybody in the face, they don't use curse words, they never drank a few beers and drove, they've never checked out women on the beach and nudged each other making dirty jokes, never been to a bachelor party, never did cocaine, never been to the titty bar. Nobody has ever asked for or sent naked pictures, they can't believe how the young women were dancing at the halftime show and how scantily clad the cheerleaders were, and of course by all means they've never used any racial, or homophobic, or misogynistic slurs? Wow what a bunch of Angels! Right? I didn't realize how many NFL fans partying balls at tailgates and the infamous gate D, actually spent most of their time working for free in soup kitchens, and at the Peace corps, falling asleep reading the good book every night? Lol please stop pretending!!

  14. Spygate evidence destroyed with a slap on the wrist. Kraft happy endings dismissed. But one email calling the commish names out of the total 650k cache of emails…this is where the league gets serious!
    12 points
  15. Apparently, they have over 650,000 emails from that cache, but the only ones to leak were Gruden’s. Definitely some major deal-making, CYA-sh*t going on with this.

  24. Is it ok if I play? Wilson, on pace to have 3,574 yards passing. Hall- He's been one of the better CBs in the league Guidry-One of the better nickel backs in the NFL Huff-2 sacks and 6 QB hits in 5 games. Echols & MCII-Both nice CBs Becton-Still a believer in the big man, he is a devastating run blocker and an average pass blocker. AVT & Becton will improve the run game. MC-projected to have 750 yards from line of scrimmage. I believe he will do better once Becton returns to the lineup. All of these players will make boneheaded plays because they lack experience, it doesn't mean they suck, it just means they lack the experience.

  25. Without watching the video yet, the loss of Gregg Knapp was huge. He was the passing game coordinator and the senior man on the offensive staff. He was the guy for LaFluer to lean on, more than Wilson. His loss created a vacuum, one that still exists.

  26. Eh.. Not sure I buy this argument. Would ZW be lighting it up if Knapp were here? I don't buy it.

  27. DeMaurice Smith is an incompetent buffoon who has sold out his membership forever. Were he a leader rather than a hack beholden to Roger Goodell, NFL players would have the best longterm care in the world. Pensions and health coverage would vest with way less service time, and PS time would count in full or in part. Instead he sells out for 17 games and the empty shiny trinket of free agency with unguaranteed contracts. And about that; no other sport has unguaranteed contracts. In a collision sport, that is unconscionable.

  28. Call me crazy but this may be because you cant run play action without a run game. Wilson hasnt struggled with it, its useless no matter who the QB is without the treat of the run. This is just plain dumb to say Zach has struggled with it

  31. Man, everyone just needs to chill out. Its been 5 games. Last week vs Tennessee Wilson looked like the next Mahomes and everyone penciled in a victory vs Atlanta Guy had an off game and dirted a short pass to crowder and everyone is losing their minds. If the D makes a stop in the 4th and we pull out a win no one cares The year has been a roller coaster facing tough defenses, impossibly bad OL play at times, and WR dropping balls left and right. Last week Wilson had one pass attempt in the first quarter Let the cookie bake. Living and dying by every throw the kid makes is going to seriously kill some of you

  33. I thought what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!? Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me? I really don't care what John Gruden said about anybody or anything behind closed doors, it's none of my business. The guy's a goddamn Football Coach!!! He was doing Corona commercials remember!? The last time I checked Gruden wasn't a priest, and he wasn't an advocate for transgender bathrooms either. What's the male version of a Karen!? Hmmm... This country and society has become totally pussified!!! Honestly I have had enough of this kind of crap. I can't wait till this ridiculous, petty, politically correct culture blows outta here like a big Broccoli Fart!!! The sooner the better! Seriously grow some thicker skin, and get a sense of humor! Those were the days.. Btw... I'd love to know what Donald Trump, George Carlin, John Lennon, Mike Ditka, Dennis Miller and Stephen A. Smith have to say on the subject? I don't think any of those guys would be too worried about hurting your feelings.

  34. This may not be popular, but the Jets have good WRs. Wilson is missing open guys right now. Davis, Cole, Crowder, Moore are not a bad top 4. Guys have been open . . . hoping the game will slow down for Zach sooner than later

  37. The sample size is so small, it's pretty much irrelevant. I think we can all agree that if Mims gets more opportunities, these numbers will come down. With that said, it makes zero sense why Mims is not seeing the field. The players ahead of him are not getting the job done.

  40. The help is always sacrificed to protect the owners. This has zero to do with politically correct or wok. This was a mob hit. They burned the tapes on Kraft and sent Snyder to charm school for pimping cheerleaders. Grudin swims with the fishes for being a dumb ass.

  41. This man got railroaded. You dont have to agree with his stances, but he is entitled to his opinions and views (wrong or not), and these things were said in the presumed privacy of his emails. Some employers do monitor emails for violations of company policies and do have a right to terminate you, but that is not how this particular instance went down.

  42. I'm not getting into the content of the emails, but you have to be a moron to use work email to disparage the commissioner and say derogatory things about players. The content makes it worse. In before the lock.
