  1. All thing’s considered, I’m glad that we’ve moved on from Darnold, but Jets fans talk about him and Jamal Adams more than any player on the present team. It’s weird Why exactly are we supposed to still care? We got a Top 40 pick and a 4th rounder for a QB who was ultimately a disappointment, but was a good kid who said and did all of the right things. I’m content. Let’s move on.

  2. I do not see this being mentioned much, but Zach goes into year 2 with the same system and same coaches. This is huge. HUGE NFL teams keep making the same mistake: They draft a QB, team struggles, then they fire the head coach and then the high draft pick has to go into Season 2 getting used to new coaches, new schemes, new players, and especially new terminology and new QB coaches. So whatever strides they made are reset, and instead of having a productive offseason and just building on what they know, they have to relearn everything. And frankly it ruins QB prospects. It happened with Sam. It happened with Daniel Jones and now he is in same situation but trying to save his career. Next year both Fields and Lawrence will be in this situation. David Mills who to me might have been the most impressive rookie QB is in this situation and as a lower round pick may not be given a 2nd year chance. But Zach has none of these burdens. He can work with Beck all offseason who was part of the Jets staff, he does not need to learn new terminology or playbooks, he has the same coaches.... He can just focus on building on what he learned and perfecting it. People used to say that the biggest jump year to year for a football player was Year 1 to 2. But so many QBs now are being robbed of that. It is a good reason to be really excited for the development of Zach. He has the perfect situation to build on all the improvement he showed at the end of the season.

  3. Nothing makes someone more likable than his glowing praise for a serial rapist, I guess.

  4. Had a few miscues but was on pace for roughly 1,000 yards and 8 TD's. These people are morons.

  5. It is a hard cap, but they have until the start of the league year (I believe that's the date) to get under it. So, presently, those teams that are "over the cap" are projections based on the contracts for next year. It is not, however, next year yet, until the 1st day of the league year. Between now and then, those teams will cut, trade, restructure, etc. to comply w/ the cap. *Should be March 16th.

  6. Meh, the Jets needed a veteran WR and they got one. When healthy, he was clearly Zach's favorite target so while I agree, he's a huge disappointment in this league and for the team, he is basically a JAG level WR so expecting more was silly. Still, he was a good signing for this team because he was Zach's binky. Let's also not forget the big prize WR of the offseason was Kenny Galloaday who was absolute horrible this season, worse than Davis IMO. Davis is a great #3. The Jets really need to find a stud to compliment Moore, w/ Berrios and then the WR core is legit.

  7. I’ll tell you what’s going to happen to Sam Darnold… He’s going to flounder around as a decent backup for another 5 or so years before he ultimately drifts into oblivion. It’s not that hard to foresee. We at least got a solid return on our investment. Which is more than I can say for the vast majority of failed 1st round QB’s throughout the leagues history. A team like the Bears got dick for Trubisky and he was more accomplished than Darnold.

  8. And stole money from the federal government intended for small business that actually needed the funds. He has zero redeemable qualities as a human being and yet some people operate as if he cured cancer. F**k Tom Brady and anyone who likes him.

  9. I actually don't hate Brady, but posting this on JN? Good luck to you!

  10. Same GM, HC, OC, DC and QB with the arrow pointing up on a lot of them. If nothing else this is the most continuity we’ve had in it feels like forever.

  11. Corey Davis is a terrible idea for a number one receiver and was a terrible signing because that’s what he was signed to do. I blame this front office more than him. He’s an adequate number two for the most part. If Joe Douglas doesn’t step up and get a true #1 then he’s simply failing us at that point. Get a #1 receiver, get an NFL level play making tight end and Corey Davis will be a fine piece for the offense. I feel like we were simply asking him to do too much. Beginning of year Zach literally try to throw him the ball every play. Corey simply isn’t that player.

  12. Kinda early to assess, isn’t it? Davis had a mediocre year, but is a solid receiver (see his prior 3 years). Exactly the kind of guy who will thrive when we give Zach some additional time, additional targets and a solid running game. This concern over Davis may rank near the bottom of my list.

  14. no. the Panthers pay him 18.5 mil no matter what. if a new team wants him they could sign him for the league minimum and just have to pay that. the Panthers then pay the difference. ex: if you sign sam for 1 mil then you pay him 1 mil and the Panthers pay 17.5mil its actually going to be the opposite. teams might call him.

  15. I’ve been extremely critical of Davis but he made an impact when he was on the field. Calling it the worst signing is indicative of someone who never actually watched a Jets game and just scanned boxed scores of FAs. Calling it a disappointment due to his stone hand struggles and injury is fair.

  16. Monson also noted that Davis posted the highest drop rate of his career (15.6 percent), and his stats across the board disappointed as well. Yeah, these people are idiots for signing him, agreed.

  17. I can’t believe they would just cut him. Especially before training camp.

  18. He may be the GOAT. But he also peddled snake oil to people for COVID protection just to make some money. Not remotely likable.

  19. Great points and this is EXACTLY why you give this staff three years to get the systems in place and the right players for each scheme. Dare is say it......we have to have Patience. I believe it will pay off this time. Every time we knee jerk react and fire a staff its a set back, although sometimes I get it like with Gase, he HAD to go. I think we have it right this time.

  20. Exactly. The top WRs from the class (that weren't franchised) 1- Juju 2- Golloday 3 Fuller 4-Antonio Brown 5- Samuel 6- Corey Davis 7- Hilton 8- Marvin Jones- 8- Watkins Only Marvin Jones had a better year than Davis. And it's not like it moved the needle for Lawrence's development.

  21. The only thing this guy didn't drop in the past year was the pen he used to sign his contract.

  22. Just an ugly free agent WR class. Golladay had three more catches for 29 more yards and no TD’s versus Davis’ four - in five more games - and is getting paid a lot more. Agholor had three more catches for 19 less yards and one less TD in six more games. Samuel, Fuller, and Smith-Schuster all battled injuries and none made an impact. Bringing in free agent WR’s is tough and it was definitely a brutal year last year. The best free agent WR may have been the guy they didn’t bring over from SF - Bourne didn’t have a great year but better than all those other guys.

  23. Brady is objectively a douche, no matter what team he plays for. He took millions under the table from the Pats through his vitamin company in order to cheat the salary cap, all the while being praised for giving a “hometown discount.” He cheated by bullying ball boys for years into underinflating his footballs; not surprisingly, they hated his guts. He purposely destroyed his phone rather than turning over the texts that clearly demonstrated his guilt. He runs faster at 44 than he did at 22. Draw your own conclusions. He routinely bullies and abuses referees. He kisses his teenage son on the lips. He’s a crappy dancer. He left his very pregnant girlfriend for a Victoria’s Secret model. These are just a few things that pop to mind. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app

  27. He's self-promoting his diet/exercise regimen while congratulating a rapist on his career success. If not for three fumbles and a missed field goal in just over a quarter of play, the guy probably would have lost by a stunning 3 scores. But yeah, he's the one who deserves all the credit for the almost comeback win, not the defense.

  28. Such a ******* piece of sh*t. Remember when he got cheating and destroying the evidence of his cheating and then compared the media questioning him to the severity of ISIS? Remember when he cried on National TV that the hardest day of his life was when he was drafted into the NFL? I used to say that I would punch Brady on site but all that HGH avocado ice cream has transformed his body like Barry Bonds so he'd probably kick my ass but I could get one swift kick to the dick, and haul ass because I KNOW I can run faster than that unathletic cheater scum bag of a human.

  29. Brady's transgressions get swept under the rug to the point people are barely even aware of them? Shocker!!! A lot of people also don't know he left a pregnant woman for Gisele. Swell guy, that Tom Brady. Swell guy.

  30. Jaglaftis? Trade the 10th pick for Ridley? This is terrible and nothing like how Joe D operates.

  31. Well said. It's often overlooked, but I agree, consistency is very important to a young players development. That person in his ear being the same consistent voice, is crucial. The other factor I would also add is, it's also year 2 for everyone else in the system, including the 2nd year of the OC. There is a good chance, everyone gets better with more comfort after 2 years. Not to mention you hope to make some upgrades to the personnel.

  32. But shouldnt Douglas and Saleh have been fired right after the season?

  33. The Corey Davis hate is confusing. The Jets were drafting a QB and had a WR room of Crowder, Mims Berrios and the Smiths. They gave a market contract for a #2 WR with a high draft pedigree. For better or worse he was an early security blanket for Zach and while he had some drops, made some big plays. Not the best year with his injury but by no means a horrible signing. If you hate the move because he’s not a #1, that’s on you. He’s not paid like one and although on the Jets he had to be one, no one ever claimed that he was. This wasn’t a one year fix and the roster is far from complete. And I really expect if we draft a WR high or sign one in FA that Davis will look really good in a Decker type role.

  34. Unless I'm missing something cutting him wouldn't really make any sense. His $$ are guaranteed. We don't know exactly what that Carolina QB depth chart will look like come June (draft pick added? FA signed?) but I can't imagine that if you're paying him anyway you wouldn't keep him around as a QB2 or QB3. In fact, you could roll him into the season and hope he plays a few good games such that if another team loses a starter you might be able to trade him for something like a conditional 6th Round pick to a team willing to pay him the % of remaining games that season. We've talked and debated Sam endlessly around here for 4 years. It's just amazing how far he's fallen. Even those who didn't think he'd be a very good QB are probably shocked that he can't even hang on as a below-average starter. This was a guy fans were praying for during his years at USC and were convinced he wouldn't even fall to the Jets at #3. At this point I feel bad for him and even worse for us. lol But not too bad for Carolina.
