  1. This is the way I saw it. He made some bad throws and some bad decisions. I did see what he saw on the first INT- he looked left and thought Sutton was going to stay with his man, which is why he let it rip. I don't agree with the decision, don't condone it, but it's not like he was chucking it up into double coverage. I think he confidently thought he had a TD on that play. With the second INT, he's gotta get the ball lower. Conklin has to catch it, but I'm going to chalk that up to Zach needing to be more consistently accurate. Otherwise, he was mostly stellar. There were many times where I felt Zach and Minkah Fitzpatrick were the best players on the field. There were also times when Zach's sheer talent shined through even in broken plays (i.e. when he dropped the pass back from Carter- freakishly athletic play by him). He avoided countless sacks and the pressure did not startle him nearly as much as it seemed to last year. He played with a ton of confidence and was lights out in the 4th quarter. The stats will come, but winning the way they did adversity and all is more important for the team's growth.

  2. As a former pretty good high school lineman and multiple time madden super bowl champ, I feel qualified to evaluate that as good plan of action. If Wilson decided that we should not score a touchdown, we would not have won.

  3. This site is getting hard to read... Everything is negative. Positive thoughts are completely bashed on every thread. Derailed and ruined. 30 new threads most of which are trolling jackasses. There was once a nice tone to this site... Talking about improvements on certain plays or certain players but not the extremism that is going on now... Now it's all you are worth me or against me... No in between... ZW is Dan Marino Or a high school qb... That's it... And don't give me this bullsh*t hiding your half assed optimism while bashing everything he does.. This is not a neutral take... It's a a$$hole pointing out every flaw... It's really tough to be here win or lose... It's actually really sad..

  4. Your tears sustain me, Minkah. I’ve seen more poise in Call of Duty lobbies full of 14 year olds.

  5. I saw that. And eh IMO - still kind of a bitch move to call the guy out. Not like GVR went out there purposefully trying to injure him. Just again kinda shows his immaturity. Especially by deleting the tweet.

  6. Well, none of them playedparticularly great. But it does give some perspective. One of the biggest positives I took from today overall is that the Jets are now talented enough to win some games where they don’t play great and they make some mistakes. It tells me that the ceiling could actually be pretty high.

  7. But is Wilson worthy of tattooing the QB's jersey on a tattoo of his wife? Talk is cheap!

  9. The one INT was horrendous, the other went directly through conklin’s hands. He played a lights out 4th quarter and led the team to a come back win, in a historically difficult place for the jets to win. Again, why can’t jets fans ever be happy?!

  10. D wasn't bad today. Not sure what you were watching. Gave up 7 points on the pick by Minkah - can't blame them for that. Otherwise, 13 points allowed, 4 picks (even if one was a hail mary gift), 3 sacks. Big stops all throughout the game. I'll take that every week.

  11. To play one season at RG, switch to LG and then when the team needs you, move to LT is really amazing and he deserves a ton of credit for his versatility. He is infinitely more valuable then Jamal Adams if we dont also add in that we have Garret Wilson because of that trade. To have someone this versatile is so valuable to the team, I hope AVT's contribution today doesnt go unnoticed with the drama surrounding the win. It will be interesting to see what we do with the OL next week. Will Duane Brown be back? If he is, then does AVT play RT and we keep Herbig in the game?

  12. Not since the 10-5 jets played buffalo w/ the playoffs on the line has a jets game meant more then this upcoming Sunday. This will be a defining moment for the regime. All offseason, the message has been we HAVE to win division games. We have lost 12 straight division games. Saleh addressed the team about this saying, “This sh*t end nows”. Saleh has talked about the massive potential of this team and thats its been bubbling under the surface. And when it explodes, its going to be fun to watch. This Sunday, the explosion he has been talking about is going to happen. Everything is going to fall into place, the light is going to go on for this team in front of the home crowd. After the confidence this young team got today, they are, for the 1st time, going to put 4 quarters of really good football together. The explosion happens this Sunday. Jets - 31 Dolphins - 13 This will be the game, when we look back years from now, we will say was the turning point. Its happening Jet fans!!!!

  14. Teddy is a very good backup QB - possibly one of the in the league? Very capable of torching this defense - those warm and fuzzy memories we have of our trip to Denver last year should be instructive

  15. I'm a data/metrics guy. It's a large part of what my company does. But when it comes to rating football players, there really is no shortcut for watching the games. So many plays can be interpreted very differently from the stats. In baseball, they assign an error to the player that made the error. In football, a tipped pass by a WR who should have caught it is still an incompletion and INT charged to the QB. A Guard who missed a blocking assignment doesn't change the impact on a RBs YPC stat. And so on. PFF was supposed to address that, but they apparently have their own problems that make it barely worthwhile. I watched the game today. I think Zach Wilson played much better than his stats show. Time will tell.

  21. So one of the more interesting aspects for me this year was the RB Tandem of Breece Hall and Michael Carter. So now that we've completed the first 4 games of the year (1st quarter of the season), I wanted to look at how they're performing statistically, and how that projects to EOY. So far: Hall: 38 carries for 178 yards (4.7 YPC), 1 Rushing TD, 15 rec. for 113 yards (7.5 YPC), 1 Rec. TD, 55.6% catch percentage, 1 Fumble, 3 Drops. Carter: 37 carries for 137 yards (3.7 YPC), 0 Rushing TD, 15 rec. for 88 yards (5.9 YPC), 0 Rec. TD, 78.9% catch percentage, 0 Fumbles, 1 Drop. Projecting this out (presuming no major improvement or dropoff), this puts Hall at 1,236 total yards (756 rush/480 rec.) and Carter at 956 total yards (582 rush/374 rec.). All this behind a pretty weak-so-far O-line, and 3 of 4 games with Joe Flacco. Interesting to see that the Jets have split their duties almost 50/50 (a bit different on actual plays played I think, but I lack that metric at-hand), with 38/15 for Hall and 37/15 for Carter. A true tandem backfield. Personally, I think they will improve over the year (barring injury, of course), and I'm hopeful the line can still improve as well to help. Hall especially needs to work on his drops and ball handling. 3 drops and a fumble is too much this early. But even if not, Hall with a 1,000+ yard season as a rookie in a pairing with Carter also at close to 1,000 yards would, IMO, be a great improvement for us, and a real keystone upon which to continue to build the offense. While not an effective (or as utilized) as I might have hoped early on, I think as the year goes on, this pairing may just come into it's own and really start being the lynchpin for our offense. So much more can be done in the passing game if we have a solid foundation of an effective rushing game to help sell it. Play action, rollouts, and more.

  27. Here we go, guests just left: - Credit where credit is due. The defense, particularly the Safeties, came to play. Ulbrich had his unit play four quarters of good football. We do need better coverage LBs though. - LaFleur…not his best game…but his players didn’t help him. I didn’t love some of his situational play calling today, but I think there were opportunities left on the field due to very bad OL play, drops, and rust from the QB. - Garrett Wilson couldn’t catch a cold today and single handedly killed a drive with two brutal drops. He’s been great this year, but the drops are a recurring theme that need to change. - Zach’s first INT was a bad read and good defensive play, but can’t happen with that position. No need for that playcall and definitely no need for him to take that shot with the field position we had. The second INT was completely on Conklin who, like Garrett Wilson, needs to go back and work with the jugs machine, because we are seeing these types of drops/plays way too often from him. If he can’t hold onto it, then someone else needs to get some reps, whether that’s Ruckert, Cager, or Uzomah. So far Conklin is on pace to be responsible for one turnover a game with his mistakes. Figure it out, or get off the field. The yardage he gets doesn’t outweigh the critical issues. - Bryce Huff should never be inactive again. - Quinnen was a force. - Jermaine Johnson had a great day. - Sauce Gardner had an elite day. - Get Breece Hall run blockers, and he’s gonna gash people. - Unless you get a mid to high 2nd for him, keep Corey Davis. He’s too consistent. - AVT is an absolute stud. - The right side of the line is in shambles. Herbig is/was a big liability, and McDermott was mediocre, at best, horrendous, at worst. - Elijah Moore and Wilson had a nice connection early on. I can see that getting much better as the weeks go by. - Zach (& this is where I’m going to wrap this up.): Taking a step back from the hype and emotions of the game…it was a pretty up and down day. There is, still, quite a bit he needs to clean up. No, he didn’t get much help, if at all, today (looking, again, at Garret Wilson and Tyler Conklin + the O-Line/running game), but the end of the first half pick cannot, under any circumstances, happen. That was, 125%, on him. Maybe it was rust, maybe it was hero ball, I don’t know, I have yet to watch or read any post-game stuff. That being said… The fourth quarter was probably the best football I have seen from him yet. Stepped up in the pocket, made perfect throws (seriously, the ball placement is night and day), played WITHIN the offense, didn’t let the moment become too big for him, and he successfully took out the Steelers on the road. Very encouraging stuff. That’s the kid we all want to see. I’m not crowning him anything just yet. I need a better four quarters than what I saw today. However, I think he played better than the box score showed, and there were some big moments of growth on display today. I don’t think the kid from last year wins that game. I’m, still, cautiously optimistic.

  28. Even the most cockeyed of optimist would have taken 2-2 if asked in August for best case scenario. That was before Zach’s injury and the OL just getting obliterated with injuries. It’s been ugly, and for the most part very frustrating to watch, but as an Iowa fan I can speak from years of experience, ugly wins are still better than pretty losses. Actually quite impressive to be 2-2 at this point, in all honesty.

  31. Metrics that make Wilson look good: 65 and 81 yard drives late in 4th quarter down 20-10 to take 24-20 lead. 10 of 12 for 126 yards and 1 TD on those two drives. Mike drop.

  32. Nearly everyone in the media said we were a lock for an 0-4 start and that 0-8 wasn't out of the question. Our schedule was that difficult. For all the drama and injuries and bad mistakes and calls to "fire everyone!" we had to endure throughout the first month of the season, we sit at 2-2. That's our record. CLE wound up not having Watson and it turns out PIT stinks in the post-Big Ben era. We split with the vaunted AFC North. Up next in the gaunlet of doom... vs MIA (no Tua) @ GB (looks awful and needed OT to beat the Patriots' 3rd string QB) @ DEN (one of the most inept offenses in the league) vs NE (Mac Jones will be back but may not be 100%) October is huge. I think we sit at 4-4 or even, dare I say it, 5-3 at month's end. We need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and cut out the critical mistakes but this team isn't bad. After that, Buffalo is the only two that I don't think we can beat. Chicago's offense is horrible, Minnesota is inconsistent, Detroit has the worst defense in the league, Jacksonville is Jacksonville, and Seattle is a lower-tier team. The divisional games will be absolutely huge, though I think we go 2-4 as we split with Miami and New England but drop both to Buffalo. JD may get his wish: we'll be playing meaningful games in December. Even if we're right at .500 and on the outside of the playoff picture fighting to get in, I think it'll happen.

  34. Ecstatic with the win. Love what Wilson brings to this team. Love the young guys. But highly irritated with the D and really conflicted on the coaching staff. But 2-2 with all the adversity. Gotta tip my hat. Wow. Man - it's great to have young talent.

  35. Add yours … 1. Ballsy performance from Zach who was bad at times and didn’t have much help other times. Great 4th quarter comeback on the road 2. Play calling didn’t help him, putting him in a lot of third & longs 3. The fast pace, throw on early downs we saw in Q4 intrigues me as a better fit for Zach. He is not a cerebral QB, he is better thinking less and finding his flow 4. I accept that he will have 2-3 of the worst short passes you’ll ever see IF he can make the BIG plays many here believe he can 5. Critical that the coaches adjust the scheme going forward to Zach’s strengths. RPO, roll-outs, some no huddle, attacking the 2nd & 3rd levels. Shame on them if they try to fit him into their scheme!!!!! 6. Only 1 sack behind that line was a big accomplishment by itself 7. Not a great game for the running backs. Thought both were slow to the few holes that were there. Also thought they failed to see a few holes, especially Carter 8. Breece needs to work on his hands. Should have caught the under throw down the sideline. Bad throw by Zach but good football players need to catch that. I’m confident they’ll both bounce back 9. This is a perfect example of not running the ball for running the balls sake. I was worried about that entering the game. How about running to the outside sometimes? 10. Great chemistry between Zach and Corey. Awesome to see and hope it continues 11. Jets need to start catching tough passes, instead of tipping them in the air or outright dropping them. 1 Int and about 4-5 other drops. Zach will likely throw a fair share of bad balls until he doesn’t so we can’t rely on the perfect throw. Might be time for more Berrios if others can’t get in done 11. If Garrett Wilson wants to be a #1, he has to stop dropping catchable balls. Nice play in breaking up a potential first half Int 12. Why is CJ Mosley playing on third and longs? How about giving Sherwood a chance? Thought they drafted him for his coverage ability 13. Happy to see more man coverage. Shaking my head on not testing a rookie QB with some blitzes but it worked in the end 14. Sauce is a stud, but needs to drastically improve his run defense 15. Joyner?!?! Great game, hope the rust is off

  37. 4th and 7. Would have been a 55 yard fg. What does Saleh do? Goes all gas. Zach completes to Davis, keeps the drive alive and we end up winning. Bang on Saleh all you want. But what a gutsy, all gas call and he nailed it. Thank you Robert Saleh! Thank you!!

  39. It really is kinda of crazy the tale of two Zach’s today. His first 3 drives and last two drives he was 14/18 for 180 yards and a TD. His 5 drives in between that? 4/18 with Two picks. Yikes. The thing I found kind of interesting is that for the most part, his “good” was largely when going to guys he played with last year. When targeting Davis, Moore, Berrios and Carter he was 11/15 for 147 yards and TD. When targeting “new guys” Conklin, Wilson and Hall he was 7 for 17 for 105 yards and a pick six. The other pick was on the target to Smith on a terrible decision and throw. That does give me a bit of hope that once he builds up a comfort level with the new guys, we will really see a leap. He’s had very little time to gel with those guys. Just very interesting how poor his stats were targeting them. Might mean nothing though.
