  1. If you cannot see something special and unique is happening, I’m sorry for you. He’s hardly a perfect or special athlete, but we’ve seen lesser athletes elevate themselves and their teams routinely in this league. The team has self-destructed around White the last 2 games, otherwise we’d be over the moon right now.

  4. I’ll tell you one thing all these quotes and verbal hugs better be backed up by these dudes showing up these last 4 games, and giving The White Knight some help.

  5. I will be LIVID if this team lets Mike White down and messes up his opportunity and chance at the playoffs. There’s no wiggle room left. The OL and other stupid mistakes are killing our chances despite the best QB play all year. I don’t know if he can overcome that on his own since he’s not meant to be a Patrick Mahomes type player. He just needs to be competent and consistent, which he has shown. This may not be enough to get a fair shot at officially being the Jets QB though and that’s complete bullsh*t.

  7. These Zach vs. White threads are spirited debates, but it seems that there is really only one thing that just about everyone agrees with: No. More. Flacco...

  8. what is your goal? to try to sneak into the playoffs every couple of years with good rosters and JAG QB's? Than no, you don't need one. If its to try to have a legit chance year in and year out to win a SB, then yes, you very much need one.

  10. IMO, the Jets problem right now is that they’re trying to transition to an entirely new offense in midseason and we’re seeing the growing pains of that transition. Zach had more physical talent and LaFleur had to conjure up this stripped-down version of the spread for him so he wouldn’t entirely short-circuit and, honestly, it hurt everyone involved—Zach bristled at the leash he was on, and every one of his receivers blamed their plight on Zach’s bristling. Once they transitioned to White, LaFleur added about 400 pages to the playbook and everyone is back in training camp, but now training camp is in Minnesota and Orchard Park against playoff teams.

  11. Hyperbole. The O line has been up and down all season. As well as makeshift, pretty much all season. The biggest difference the past two weeks is quality of opponent. Vikings and Bills are both potential Super Bowl teams (Vikings perhaps less so), and we played both in their house, and in one case in horrific weather conditions. It's different than playing the down and rookie-led Steelers, the very down Packers, or The Dolphins led by their #3 QB. I've been telling you all along, the quality of opponent has risen from early on, and worse, our own depth has continued to get worse every week. Another season of mostly hurt players. There were several failures Sunday. The two turnovers are definitely up there. Berrios sucking at returns and blowing any and every chance at a field position battle early on was up there (two weeks in a row he's played very poorly overall). Mosely's fatal penalty. Our now scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of a rushing offense is a big problem too, we clearly don't have any faith in rushing the ball, especially in short or must-gain situations, at least in part due to the makeshift O-line. We're going to be lucky to win another game. Not because Zach is sitting, I'd say the same with him as starter. We're just worn down, and face mostly good teams now (Jags really the only should-be easy win left), and have little leeway for error. This is why your "Zach was 5-2, so White should be 6-1 of it's a fail" was and is silly agenda-driven nonsense. The loss of QW alone was a gamebreaker yesterday, along with the weather, meaningful differences from the same Bills, in our house, with a wee early game drizzle, a few weeks earlier.

  12. The OL has been really bad the past 3 weeks really harming the QB's performance. The 7 weeks prior - the OL was the reason for anything good to come from the QB.

  13. 100% of the board would’ve taken our current record in July. Meaningful football in December was the mandate. Quit crying.

  14. There are still a lot of smart Jet fans here. Admittedly, I do post less due to a number of reasons: -Although being retired for the past 5 years I have been absorbed in directing my sons lives (sorry for them), as they navigate college, one was a baseball player, and their start of careers. -There are a lot smarter people than me in discussing football. -There has been a shift of what was formerly discussing what we see and giving opinions on this site, to digging in trenches and creating an opinion and then being steely hard in the conviction of that opinion, to the detriment of objective analysis. That is of course, just my opinion. Great site and mostly great people.

  16. Nope. OL is trash. We are mistake prone. And we needed to win one of the previous two games. I’m pleased overall with how the season’s gone but think we’ve let the playoffs slip away.

  17. 1000000% Thry love him so much… stop false-starting on the opening drive, catch the balls that hit your hands, and for **** sake die trying to pass protect… the free runners were a disgrace yesterday.

  18. Yup. Best QB play we’ve had and the Defense takes a big step backwards, the OL gets worse as they get healthier, and LaFleur doesn’t realize he’s outsmarting himself with his stupid ******* philosophies.

  20. 2 of the busiest threads on the board are pining for the return of Zach Wilson, so your feelings are probably more based on how you consume what is being presented about Mike White. You're always going to have some over the top posters who have irrational support for certain players. I dont see anyone proclaiming anything about Mike White other than, he's obviously the best QB on the team and it's exciting to see an offense that can move the ball through the air for the first time in a long long time. Personally, I cant wait to see how the season plays out because Mike White is an exciting player and I would love to see him go take this job and never look back. It's a great story.

  22. Breece, the defense and playing a bunch of backup QBs gave us playoff hopes in spite of our flaws and Wilson’s play. White gives us playoff hopes despite our flaws. We played very good defense, Breece was operating at a ROY/OPOY type level and we caught some good fortune. Injury bug coupled with more difficult opponents caught up to us. I just don’t understand how anyone could watch this season, objectively, and not understand Mike White is the QB going forward. I’ll say for the foreseeable future, but for the purpose of this thread, at least the rest of this year.

  23. Respect on the name? I agree. We gotta respect Streveler more. Hes the answer. - Undefeated as a Jets QB 3-0 - Beat the best team in the NFL. Preseason or not. - Locker room loves him as much as Mike White. - Can throw AND run. A mixture none of the 3 other QBs on roster can accomplish. - Big bodied and can take hits. - Only QB to make Mims look like an NFL WR. Stats? 24 of 33 277 Yards 5 TDs 1 Int 0 Sacks 71 Yards rushing 124.6 QBR ... and he did that in 5 quarters. Hes got Wilson's legs and arm, Whites accuracy, in a thick frame built to play football 6ft1 220lbs. Why in the holy **** would people NOT want this guy playing? Or even the chance of him playing?

  24. No. Lose to Lions. Lose to Seahawks. Lose to Dolphins. Finish 8-9 and out. Not happy about it in any way, shape or form, but it's how I see this playing out. Too much attrition, too many injuries, too many missed opportunities (both Pats games, Vikings game).

  25. Zach also garnered respect when he came back from a non-contact knee boo boo in seven weeks.

  26. If Berrios squeezes that pass against Minnesota, Mike White would be Mickey Mantle right now. Instead, it’s “you know what zack wasn’t all that bad.” One catch.

  27. Very sad, way too young, one of my very favorite coaches at any level of any sport. Such a great dude, such a huge long stretching legacy in the coaching circle and one of the most unique characters in sports. Always great for a hilariously witty sound bite. College Football lost a great today. RIP

  29. The Jets have way more talent. Daboll has done an incredible job with a bad roster. Saleh has done a good job with a very good roster. If we did take Daboll I wonder if we take Zach with the 2 and if we did he would have had a better chance to succeed? On the other hand our D might be very different. No right answer here. It looks like both Saleh and Daboll will be really good.

  31. So, on this, I listen to The Athletic Football Podcast with Robert Mays and Nate Tice—two nerds who break down offense to a granular (sometimes boring) level. These two guys obsess over Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Hurts, etc, but have been openly dismissive of Mike White for weeks—like, clowning the Jets for even having to play someone like White at this point in the year. But today? Today, they did about five minutes on how tough Mike White is and how he makes some throws that “make you sit up in your chair.” It was pretty clear that this was the first time they’d ever watched Mike White play football, and they both came away impressed. Mina Kimes (fwiw) was in the same boat as far as doing lolJets shtick re: White, but she was tweeting today about how “improved” he’s looked, citing the high-difficulty throws he made against the Bills. I get that it’s just a few stupid podcasts, but there’s a new narrative forming around these Mike White Jets and that leads to national exposure, which leads to respectability which—let’s face it—would be kind of cool.

  39. As one of the newest members of the board, but someone who has been a diehard Jets fan since 1968 I do not have the historical board perspective to have seen the change in posts as everyone else has. This is also the first social internet site that I have posted too. I have never signed up and posted on any of the popular social media sites like Facebook and all of the others one that my kids & grandkids use. I also never got into any of the fantasy football stuff (my fantasy stuff growing up was Playboy magazines-LOL), not that there is anything wrong with all of the different social media sites, I’m just too old to get into it. My reason for signing up and starting to post here was because my best buddy & also diehard Jets fan recently died of cancer and he was my in person version of this board to talk to and commiserate with about our long-suffering Jets. While I would love for us to get into the playoffs I am also realistic about how far we might go if we do get in. I am too old to believe you go from finishing with one of the worst records in the last few years to winning the Super Bowl the next year. At my age I first just don’t want our team and especially our QB who is the leader of our team to be thought of as a joke around the league. This season while Zach was playing the football analysts and TV commentators before each game would say we have a great defense (and a great running back before Breece Hall got hurt), but Zach had to figure out how to get the ball into his receivers hands and hang in the pocket longer and not always start running in circles as soon as he though he might get hit. I’m pretty sure we won’t be hearing any of the football analysts and TV commentators before the Lions game say anything like that about MW. I’m also pretty sure in the locker room this week nobody is questioning if MW is a gamer who deserves their respect and they can believe in as their leader. And I’m definitely sure the receivers want MW as their QB over Zach because his passes (even when a little behind them) are still catchable balls, and not 5 ft over their head or 5 ft in the dirt in front of them.

  40. So far I'm pretty happy with Saleh ... Mostly happy with RS/JD combo ... Feels like adults running the show.for once. If Saleh can develop Zach he will have his bald head molded for use as the roof of the Jets next stadium. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

  42. Mike has earned the QB1 role for the rest of the season......however, shame on this coaching staff for suiting up Flacco. Not only is he slow to move/process......he is clearly disinterested in playing......it was all over his face yesterday.....this coaching staff has done very well this year and I truly think we are in good hands going forward.....but if you want to win at all costs, Flacco can't dress for these games down the stretch
