For the haters in the house who say the Jets are always settling for scraps. They got their guys and one of them was highly sought after and chose the Jets28 points

Gee, the 87th time I’ve been told to get on the bus early as a Jets fan. I actually wish I could get off this bus.11 points

Listen to you guys...LMAO. Personally, I have no experience hiring an OC but reading some of your responses, it's comical. All I can say like I do with every hire, I hope it works out.11 points

Say the Jets land Rodgers without parting with this years 1 - I’ve seen a day 2 pick this year and a conditional first next year tossed around… that would put the Jets in a position where they could truly make luxury picks. Another stud WR, TE Michael Mayer, etc. would all be in play and would put this offense over the top in terms of overall talent when paired with AR12 and the current offense. I like it. Load up at the skill positions and let’s put up 28 points a game with a top 5 defense… Time to go all in11 points

He was so incompetent in Denver. Feels kinda gross. But if it gets Rodgers here, shrug.10 points

If the top 3 ots are gone then i have no problem with a wr, that is probably my preference. Cincy had tyler boyd who is pretty good they went and got Tee higgins, they had higgins and boyd who are pretty good and went and got chase.10 points

FWIW- I don't think there's some "wink-wink" agreement suggesting Rodgers is definitely coming here because of Hackett (see 2022 Denver Broncos). Hackett was in our plans dating back to last December as a person who they identified who can come in and be a senior buffer to MLF. QB-centric coach with his kind of experience and player-friendly personality was needed. Mike's version of the "Shanahan offense" more closely resembled his brother Matt's version of it, so don't expect the overall scheme and principles to change much. It also helps that he and Saleh know each other well, and that Matt LaFleur (Saleh's best friend) loves him. Still, you can't ignore the fact that Rodgers is extremely close with Hackett, both as a friend and as a colleague. I do think hiring Hackett will make it an easier sell to Rodgers and Garoppolo. There will not be wholesale changes to the scheme, but they will be real changes. They will simplify the offense and add an RPO element to it, which is very QB friendly regardless who that player is. This feels like a hire that will either be glorious (landing Rodgers) or horrific. We'll see. Klint Kubiak is a name to watch as QB coach or PGC9 points

The Seahawks offense improved when they went from Russell Wilson to Geno Smith. Perhaps Russell Wilson is no longer the player you remember.....9 points

I'd be pretty upset with this pick, not cause its a WR but because we pass on Broderick Jones. Hurt all year, only 1 good season, plays from the slot. No thanks. Would rather Johnston if we go WR, 6'5" is what we need.9 points

@football guy With Hackett coming from GB (under Matt LaFleur) and Carter coming from TEN can we expect to see a hybrid Shanahan offense with a physical run game?8 points

I wanted an experienced OC ideally w/ Head Coaching experience and now I'm all twisted like a pretzel about how I feel getting what I wanted. lol7 points

Some of the best coordinators in NFL history failed as Head Coaches. Buddy Ryan, Josh McDaniel, Todd Haley, Bud Carson, Marchibroda, Gilbride, Coslett etc... His failure in Denver is of zero relevance to his ability to be an OC. That doesn't mean he will be great but great OCs aren't currently available.....7 points

His Offensive rankings as O-Co or Head Coach: 2013 - BUF - 2nd in Rushing, 28th in Passing - Overall 19th in Yards, 22nd in Points 2014 - BUF - 25th in Rushing, 18th in Passing - Overall 26th in Yards, 18th in Points 2015 - Unemployed 2016 - JAX - 22nd in Rushing, 20th in Passing - Overall 11th in Yards, 25th in Points 2017 - JAX - 1st in Rushing, 17th in Passing - Overall 6th in Yards, 5th in Points 2018 - JAX - 19th in Rushing, 26th in passing - Overall 27th in Yards, 31st in Points 2019 - GB - 15th in Rushing, 17th in Passing - Overall 18th in Yards, 15th in Points 2020 - GB - 8th in Rushing, 9th in Passing - Overall 5th in Yards, 1st in Points 2021 - GB - 18th in Rushing, 8th in Passing - Overall 10th in Yards, 10th in Points 2022 - DEN - 21st in Rushing, 19th in Passing - Overall 21st in Yards, 32nd in Points Overall, got to admit, not that impressed. One good year in JAX (2017, on the back of Leonard Fornette and Chris Ivory). Two good years in GB (2020 & 2021, on the back of HOF'er QB Aaron Rodgers). His overall rankings (especially scoring offense) are mostly in the bottom half on the NFL, not the top, with the exceptions of those good years. Without Rodgers or an equivalent at QB, I don't see this as a good hire. Also, has Hackett ever "developed" a QB? Sure doesn't look like it. So not great for Z. Wilson...7 points

I like it even if we don't get Rodgers. Saleh needs to be surrounded by more grown ups and less BFF siblings. I hope they also bring in a QB guru either to help Zach snap out of it, or to develop whatever rookie gets drafted to replace him.7 points

Guys that are OCs for the Rodgers, Mannings, and Brady.. it’s easy to look good when you have a generational type QB under center.7 points

it really is incredible. The league is drowning in failsons. Kinda makes you feel for the undoubtedly more talented people that are constantly getting passed over for some ham brained scion.7 points

And we get the Titans OL coach since 2018 in the same role and run game coordinator? Rodgers is a done deal and Breece Hall may go off for 2,000 yards. I am a fan of this7 points

Frank Reich wants to be a head coach. Darell Bevell is staying in Miami. The Eagles guys are in high demand, plus their season isn't over, so we have to wait and see there. I think those are the practical assumptions from this?7 points

He’s been coaching since 2005. Coached and worked his way up at UC Davis, Stanford, Jags, Bills, Packers. He didn’t get the job for being a part of the Good Ole Boys Club. He’s been a more than qualified OC leading Rodgers to two of his best years and back to back NFL MVPs. Who else has done that? Hard to not understand the pick, yes even if you wanted someone else6 points

I approve...for now. I reserve my right to disapprove at a later date. His tenure in Denver was concerning but he's experienced and has called plays in the past for successful offenses. Some people are better suited as coordinators then head coaches....just look at Bowles. None of this means he won't be a failure down the road. What you will not see me do is, two years from now if he turns into a bust, screaming at the top of my lungs (in internet message board speak) that this was a total disaster/mistake when the hire was made.6 points

He was good enough to get a head coaching job. Some guys just aren’t HC material but good coordinators…look at Todd bowles.6 points

I’m willing to hold off on that idea… get a legit qb in here and see what he can do first.6 points
