  1. It was TJ Watt and Aaron Donald, but I digress. The argument is that older draft picks shouldn’t be considered in the top-5 because they lack talent to justify a high pick. It’s a fair argument; with early college departure the draft has been flooded with Uber-talented Juniors who can play in the league. It’s faulty to logic to conclude that means older players can’t. See: Watt and Donald, both 23 year old rookies. I’d argue that there are a sh*t ton of more meaningful numbers that trump age (games missed to injury, 40 times, 10-yard splits, bench press, 3-cone, and short shuttle). I personally wouldn’t take a player off my big board for being a JUCO transfer that took time to develop into the ACC defensive player of the year. This kid worked his tail off and it showed at the Senior Bowl practices against upper-tier competition. If you saw JJ tape paired with Thibodeaux hype, drafting him top-5 would be a no brainer.
  2. No, Tua sucks because he throws with the wrong hand.
  3. This. Except for the QB part; he was hired to coach LBs.
  4. Only one player can hold the single season sack record, and it happens to be an older draftee. Another 23 year old rookie is Aaron Donald. (I’m guessing teams who had top-5 picks in those drafts might want a re-do)
  5. TJ Watt was 23 in his rookie year. Sometimes you just draft a talented player who loves football and continue to develop their skill set.
  6. 70 tackles, 18 TFL, 12 sacks last year. What is your threshold for “difference maker”?
  7. After the combine he’ll establish himself as the clear PR3, with a better motor and attitude than Thibodeaux. I’ve been trying to get Ikem and JJ in my mocks and he’s always gone before pick #10, so yes, I agree with this approach. In fact, trading #10 to a team on the back end recoups a 2nd rounder and positions us for a different blue chip IOL (Linderbaum, Green, Penning). With the extra 2nd in tow, we can trade #38 to ATL (and another cond. next year) for Calvin Ridley. Ridley > Wilson
  8. BAH!!! I thought it was the other Drake from USC. My bad.
  9. We field TWO linebackers at a time, what are you talking about? I could see us adding ONE linebacker in free agency (that ATL guy gets tossed around a lot, Oluokun?), and then one draftee in the mid-rounds.
  10. Strongest Edge class in a decade, drafts zero Edge. Sounds about right.
  11. Not a really small school, but this guy wouldn't be a horrible consolation prize in the mid rounds if we don't get Drake or Christian.
  12. Could explain the emphasis on getting players who LOVE football. Some people, myself included, will call in sick to work with a slightly runny nose.
  13. Coached by Saleh in JAX, and by Ulbrich in ATL. If they’re friendsies, and the price is right, we’ll sign him. He’s a hybrid genetic blend of Vinny Curry, Bryce Huff, and Shaq Lawson, what’s not to like?
  14. Probably won’t draft a nickle-back, in Trent McDuffie.
  15. Sign: David Njoku, Marcus Williams, Dante Fowler, and a CB (JC Jackson, James Bradbury, or Akhello Witherspoon) (Then, per Football Guy’s suggestion in his thread…) Trade: #10 to DEN, for Jerry Jeudy and #40…
  16. Leal was a projected top-10 player a couple months ago. If he were to drop I could see us being intrigued by his inside/out versatility. Another player I could see us targeting at the top of two would be Perrion Winfrey. If nothing else, because the Jets always take a player that leaves you scratching your head.
  17. He lead the Falcons in sacks last year. (4.5)
  18. 1. We should draft Jermaine Johnson at #4. (70 tackles, 18 TFL, 12 sacks... ACC defensive player of the year?!) 2. At #10 we need to trade back with a team that will give us a 2nd rounder, because we should send #38 to ATL for Calvin Ridley (with a conditional pick from next year's draft), and hope to land in the range of our IOL (Tyler Linderbaum, Trevor Penning, Kenyon Green, Zion Johnson). 3. At #35 getting DeMarvin Leal would be crazy fantastic and make most posters on this board lose their minds, until he becomes the next big thing. 4. The second 2nd rounder should be a TE that pairs well with Njoku, like Jeremy Ruckert. *ducks* oh yeah, thanks for posting this @Morrissey !!
