Who might be decent in a new system. If you take away Hunter's first three games, and his last three games, he did alright, and Ducasse is the X-factor in this. He could be a stumbly clown, or the next Marc Colombo sans the suck.
-
Hunter was ranked 31 out of 32 starting RTs. So unless McKenzie was number 32, you might be wrong on this one Spermie. It's too bad you stopped reading...the other three options (highlighted) are a lot more exciting... and my last paragraph even mentions my distaste for McKenzie. [My bad for starting a non-Manning related thread on a position of need, and listing the options that are out there a week before FA starts]

IN--NEW YORK, no less. (well, next year) If there is any 'rigging' of the games, and there is. Goddell & the refs would do anything in their power to arrange that. Can you imagine, a brother vs. brother SB, in the first cold-weather stadium SB since Christ died, hosting two home teams, to boot. The entire civilized world would come to a stop to watch that drama unfold...and ticket prices would be (justifiably) out of control.

what a difference a little "w" makes.

Go on.

Yeah, Miami is looking like the front-runner for those reasons listed. But I'm not sure having an all pro LT and a good Center (Pouncy) is going to cut it. LG Richie Incognito is not a world beater, and they're cutting ties with their starting RG (Vernon Carey) and RT Marc Colombo. That entire right-side is going to be brand new = death for Manning's fragile neck. Plus, Long is entering a contract year: speculation is that he'll command one of the richest left tackle deals in league history. Browns LT Joe Thomas signed an eight-year, $92 million contract with $44 million guaranteed last August. That's a lot of money for the Dolphins if Manning does in fact, work out.

I disagree. The AFC East still has that powerhouse team and the Jets. I think the AFC south sans Peyton Manning on the Colts is pretty easy. Esp., if he lands with the Texans...who reportedly want nothing to do with him. I guess I wouldn't overpay for him either in this division. Colts--rookie QB Texans Jaguars -- 2nd year rookie QB Titans -- 2nd year rookie QB

Jets already working the Manning hotline

Manning's hotline: 1-900-MAN-4YOU I hear Tanny's been on it all day. -
This guy's younger brother is getting some attention as well. -Free agent T/G Geoff Schwartz confirmed on Twitter Wednesday night that he is healthy after missing all of 2011 due to hip surgery. Beat writer Darin Gantt insists Schwartz wasn't tendered due to a "business decision," but the Panthers would easily have offered him the one-year, $1.26 million proposal if they thought highly of Schwartz. Young and a mauler with starting experience at right guard and right tackle. [rotoworld]

For those unaware. Karl Malone is Bell's father. Though he settled out of court, he used the good ole' "wasn't me" defense. "Karl Malone has never offered public confirmation that he is the father of Demetrius Bell. However, laboratory blood tests prepared for the Bell family's 1986 paternity lawsuit against Malone reportedly pointed to an over 99 percent probability that Bell's father was either Malone or a brother of Malone. Malone's attorney noted, that Malone "had a lot of brothers"." hahahaaaa

Come on Joe, don't get feelings. That's gay.
-
hahahaaaa! Nicely done.
-
Dude. I color coded and everything. Do you know how I know you're gay? Because you don't read posts when you're the second person to respond to a thread. Your "little known" guy is the second ranked OT available. Which is mentioned in my color-coded brief on Anthony Collins. 2/3's of your suggestions are discussed one post above.

Jets. sigh Sanchez gets traded to Seattle for a pair of second round picks (2012 and 2013), and goes on to make sweet, sweet music with Sidney Rice and Skittles-McGee Manning gets injured in week 3, and McEleroy takes us to a 4-12 record...which we use to draft Matt Barkley in the first round, next year. Barkley takes us to the AFC championship game, back-to-back, but then flops in his third year (8-8 record, egh)...so we trade for a then injured Tom Brady...and we start winning Super Bowls. Super Bowl 2016, baby!!!

The Pro-Day Progress Thread (Manning-Free zone)
Greenseed4 replied to Greenseed4's topic in NY Jets Forum
Tennesee's pro day is 3/16. Here's the report from Knoxville, Quarterback Jonathan Crompton (6-3 ¼, 222) ran 4.87 and 4.89 in the 40-yard-dash, 4.39 in the short shuttle and 7.02 in the three-cone drill. Crompton also posted a 31.0 vertical jump and 8.10 broad jump. He reportedly looked impressive during passing drills. dick. -
Tanny has said that Wayne Hunter will be the starter... weeks prior, Tanny said Vlad would be "competing" solely at the RT position... There are reports that we WILL NOT draft OL in the first several rounds of the draft... and yet there are names getting tossed around free agency that I think we should look into. -Kareem McKenzie, an 11-year veteran who spent four seasons with the Jets and seven with the Giants, won’t be spending a 12th year in New York. Unless he returns to the Jets. [per PFT] -The Baltimore Sun expects the Ravens to waive LT Bryant McKinnie if free agents Ben Grubbs and Matt Birk are retained this offseason. McKinnie worked his way into playing shape last season, but was a liability in run blocking and finished as a below-average left tackle in Pro Football Focus' 2011 rankings. The Ravens have until March 18 to decide whether to pay McKinnie's $500,000 roster bonus. [per rotoworld] -There's Anthony Collins, (6'5, 315) swing tackle for the Bengals. He is the 4th ranked Tackle in FA behind Jared Gaither, Demetrius Bell, and likely cap cut Levi Brown. This was written about him a year ago: [Collins is] "...a 25-year-old entering a contract season, Collins played only 281 snaps of offense in 2010. He started seven games the season prior, and according to Pro Football Focus allowed just six QB pressures all year." [rotoworld] -Vernon Carey G/T is looking for a new home. He's 6'5, 340...has familiarity with Sparano and Googs, and would be a nice Damien Woody type of presence in the locker-room...if nothing else, he would be cheap, veteran depth. Personally, I wouldn't touch McKenzie. Besides, I think he hates the Jets. But McKinnie at RT would be epic. Collins is pretty beastly, I think he could start for us, and has youth on his side. I like the idea of Carey on our roster (riding pine) just because he has experience at all of the interior positions and can play RT... on the cheap, and you just can't put a price on the lunch-pale/blue collar types.

At the time of this posting there is/was 13 Manning related threads. If you would like to discuss Peyton, Payton, Manning, his family, his current whereabouts, his best fit, or compare him to anybody on any roster...please find the appropriate thread and post it there. Don't be the douche who brings him in here. I designate this a Manning Free Zone. Thanks. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That being said, Players not invited to the Combine, or those who did not test (or tested poorly) get an opportunity to show of their mad skills at their school's pro-day. This thread is designed to keep track of the different slides and rises of players we may have interest in. This year's pro-day schedule seems more convoluted than usual. 14 schools held their prodays on Tuesday...17 schools on Wednesday, and 20 go on Thursday. WTF? How do you expect to get your players exposure to NFL coaches when they can't be in two places at once? Poor show, schools!! Here's the schedule http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/football/nfl/02/20/pro.day.schedule.ap/index.html Today 3/7: Alabama, California, California-Davis, Colgate, Eastern Washington, Fordham, Fort Valley, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma State, Southern California, Texas A&M, UTEP, Wisconsin, Weber State Reports of Interest. USC -Matt Kalil is legit. Still a top-5 pick (likely goes #3) -Nick Perry does not have LB skills. Today's performance has him slated as a 4-3 DE. or strict rush linebacker in a 3-4. He does not have the COD skills which translate to an everydown OLB. Alabama -Dre Kirkpatrick is rising. He is fast, not quick, but has the size suited for slot-corner duties and he is slated to be the 2nd CB taken. (in the teens-twenties.) -Dont'e Hightower just made some money today. His COD and linebacker drills were remarkable for a man his size...He looked really good. -Upshaw is a turd. He didn't perform today because of a boo-boo. Barron and Richardson also, did not participate (but that was expected) Wisconsin -Nick Toon ran in the low 4.5s Texas A&M -Cyrus Gray looked good, but wore the wrong shoes and posted poor times in the cone-drill and short shuttle. -WR, Jeff Fuller (6'4, 224) ran a 4.53. Some think he should add weight and convert to TE. Apparently Oklahoma State is holding their pro day on Friday.

Is Payton better than Sonchez?

Yes. But he's not better than Pennington, eh Ecurb? Nobody is.

Francesa hearing that the Mannings want Houston
Greenseed4 replied to T0mShane's topic in NY Jets Forum
Ha! Personally, I liked the forced snivels, and repetitive "...we like each other a lot... pretty much 'besties'... " Manning was in the driver's seat during that presser. -
Outlining the assets of the "final four" Peyton suitors
Greenseed4 replied to BroadwayJ667's topic in NY Jets Forum
No? Trade him for a first round pick. They can boost the OL and secondary before the second round, and will have Jerry's big catch of the off-season. Manning will sell jerseys and fill seats. -

Greenseed4 replied to T0mShane's topic in NY Jets Forum
Schaub was originally drafted by Atlanta in the 3rd round. He was traded to Houston for: (1) a swap of first round picks [ATL moved from #10, to #8], (2) second round picks, in 2007 and 2008. The 5th year of his 6-year contract was ended short with a week-10 injury to his foot. While I'm not a numbers guy, the last year of his contract will not impact the Texans, cap-wise, in a way to exclude them from making a move. Schaub is set to make $7.15MM this year before hitting free agency in 2013. One would have to imagine that trading for Schaub could net the Texans similar value to what they traded to get him. At least a pair of 2nd round picks. Which is interesting, because a lot of the teams including those who miss out on Manning would likely be potential suitors for Schaub's services (Seattle, Cleveland, Washington, Miami). This has the potential domino-effect to drastically change the entire direction of the draft. -

There are some more players in this than just the four listed. (Seattle, Houston, Dallas) I think it comes down to motivation. Does he want to make more money, just play the game, or win some rings? If it's money--Seattle, Redskins, Miami, Dallas If it's play comfortably--Miami, Arizona (dome), Texans (dome), Dallas (dome) If it's to win more rings than his little brother-- Jets, Texans, Dallas
