Very limited QB. Almost a statue in the pocket. Zero mobility. Arm strength isn't anything special. Can't stay healthy. He's an injury prone, average QB in a very QB friendly system that isn't asked to do all that much. Makes sense why Shanahan wants to upgrade at the spot now?

For a QB, what do you value more, arm talent or toughness

That whole season was Fitzmagic throwing up 50/50 balls to Decker and Marshall and them bailing him out. Everyone, for some reason, was surprised the next year when the coin flip started coming up tails. -
Watson is younger and has more value. Watt's got the name but his game has fallen off a cliff with age/injury. Two totally different situations IMO. If Watson was Matt Ryan or Matt Stafford, you'd have a better argument.

I'm not talking about this move in particular, in general. Easterby(who is a team chaplain) has taken control of the organization and is systematically getting rid of anyone who doesn't show complete fealty. It's one of the most bizarre situations I've ever seen in terms of sports.

Haven't the Jets learned their lesson about Ohio St.?

Adam Schefter: Jets Seem "Inclined To Move On" From Darnold
Skeet Ulrich replied to BroadwayRay's topic in NY Jets Forum
This guy encapsulated in a 90 sec clip everything that's wrong with Darnold. I get Gase and Bowles stink. I get it. Watching Darnold play, his problems are not all bad coaching and bad playcalling. There are good QBs stuck in bad situations. Darnold is a bad QB stuck in a bad situation. -
I think there's a path to Lance being the best QB of the lot 5 years down the road. I do not think it happens with the Jets.
-
Again - Darnold's one saving grace is going away. He's going to start getting very expensive soon. A guy drafted this year is cheap for the next 4 years. You can't ignore the fact that he's about to exit his rookie deal, that's a BIG part of the problem(aside from the fact he sucks).

The fallacy there is you think Darnold is this unique prospect. He isn't and wasn't at the time. Hell, he was drafted behind Mayfield who himself is nothing special. Tell me - what makes Darnold so special? His arm isn't rare. He's got decent mobility but not special. Between the ears, he's awful. He can't stay healthy. He's a turnover machine, going back to college. Why am I giving away a premium pick for this guy? Like I said, if you get Darnold for a conditional 3rd or 4th, makes sense as a lotto ticket. If I'm Lynch/Shanahan - am I giving away the #12 OVR pick for Darnold, knowin

I think Darnold's coming back. If I'm a team that wants to attempt to salvage Darnold(Pittsburgh/49ers/Colts), am I giving away my first for that privilege? Not really. If Darnold was available for a conditional 4th, that's one thing. It doesn't seem like JD wants to just give Darnold away, so I think he'll be back with some competition - be it a vet or a guy drafted early - in 2021.

Geno's still kicking around as a backup, so anything's possible.

Seahawks fielding offers for Russell Wilson?

Getting sacked 50 times a year by 250lb linebackers and 300lb defensive ends coming at you like freight trucks wouldn't make me happy either.
