Darnold will benefit from Joe Brady as OC, an above average OL, a consistent and effective running game and a slew of weapons. Carolina will go 10-6 and make the playoffs. Darnold will throw for 4,400 yards 27 TD and 14 Ints. Wilson will have rookie struggles, a below average OL, a poor running game and a below avg group of weapons. The Jets will finish 7-9 Wilson will throw for 3.600 yards 22 TDS 24 INTS.

I hear ya, but I'll never forget that scene in year two - when Bowles went over to the DL members on the sideline and balled them out - as he walks away you could see the eyerolls and Leo Williams burst out laughing. Todd Bowles has proven himself of being a great DC. I believe much of his failure with the Jets falls directly on his best friends Kacy Rogers. Remember when Rogers had to take a leave due to illness? The Jets D was incredible in those games. I think is was Kacy who did not prepare the defense (as Jamal had alluded to) and did not know how to call defensive plays. The other reason for his failure was he was not strong enough of a leader- I believe he lost the locker room for his blind loyalty to Rogers. In Bowles first season the team was on auto-pilot led by career years from Fitzpatrick and Marshall. The following season Fitzpatrick showed up fat and lazy, Marshall got frustrated and the locker room blew up. He tried to clean house, but thanks to Mac, talent was not replaced with talent, and Rogers only got worse. Bowles probably learned a lot of lessons and may very well make a good head coach someday. That is the fear of an inexperienced head coach, they do not understand the level of responsibility they bear and do not have a powerful voice to reign power. Nevertheless, I do not have that fear with Saleh - he is going to come in kicking ass and everyone will respect him for it.

The salary diff is only $8M for 2021, 2022 and 2023. It just saves them from being stuck with a gutless crappy QB for the next 6 years. Even though Detroit is getting 3 draft picks, I feel like the Rams got the better of them. Goff sucks and McVay had it with him. They will probably draft a QB this year or next. San Fran is going to get a new QB as well. Mostly because they can cut Garoppolo this year with minimal cap implications. So either SF trades for Darnold, Watson or drafts one in the 1st round.

Ehh, there's been others. Vinny T looked like the worst QB ever until Little Bill brought him to Cleveland. Drew Brees was good but not all world with the Chargers. Rich Gannon was garbage until the Raiders gave him Jerry Rice, Tim Brown and Jerry Porter. Another former Raider - Jim Plunkett. Maybe add Ryan Tannenhill to that list. Has Darnold done anything to make us feel like he has the potential to be a franchise QB? He showed glimpses his rookie year and had a few good games in his mono year. This year I feel like he had a bad attitude from day one, maybe it was because he lost his most reliable target, maybe its because he realized the OL still stunk or maybe he just got fed up with Gase. Gase's offense was extremely uncreative yet very complicated - it required the WRs to read the defense and adjust their routes accordingly and the QB to see it the same way as the WRs do. You need very good chemistry with your WRs for this to work - 1st Gase season, Darnold caught mono but then had a few really good games, 2nd season - no OTA's, limited practice time and no weapons to practice with. You cannot disagree that Darnold was placed in a historically bad situation the past two years PERIOD!

You cannot look at this years WR class and say - ooh there's my WR1, I like Chase, but I don't think he's a WR1, Waddle could be, but maybe not, I fear Devonta - I really do - I feel he has a lower floor that Waddle or Chase. So why overdraft due to need - that's not how to build a winning team. Pitts is a beast who after he adds to his frame a bit can become a dominate TE. As for RB - we have one RB on our Roster worthy of being on next year's team and he looked only ehh in his rookie season. Our only hope at landing a WR1 is signing Allen Robinson. Let's build a top 5 OL, add a couple of backs, a beast at TE and a few intriguing WRs. This is not a year for QB's or WRs. Not in love with the Edge talent either. Once again the Jets have no luck. Imagine Chase Young was coming out this year with TL - SMH.

I am sorry, I see all these posts about drafting a QB but I cannot say anyone in this class, perhaps even TL jumps out and screams potential franchise QB. Last year I felt Herbert, Burrow and Love did have that potential. Two years ago, I felt none had it - I was shocked that Kyler Murray went #1 overall, and Daniel Jones went in the first round. I still feel, as talented as he is, Kyler will never be one to push his team over the top. Three years ago I felt that it was Sam Darnold and only Sam Darnold, I saw Baker Mayfield as a very distant second and nobody else was even worthy of a 1st round pick. I sure AF was wrong about Josh Allen, as far as Lamar Jackson goes - he's a lot better than I imagined, but there is something missing from his game. In 2017 I thought Watson was the only potential franchise QB - well thank God I am not a GM. In 2016 I thought they all would be busts, Goff, Wentz, Lynch...I guess I was kinda right, never saw Dak coming though. Whats the point of all this? Drafting a QB in the first round is more often than not a wasted premium pick, more often than any other position you draft for. Now really look closely at this year's class - they all suck. None of these guys are great, they are just hyped. Does that mean I want to trade for a sure thing like Watson? Think of this - how many players on the Jets would start for another NFL team? On offense: Becton, McGovern, Crowder and Darnold. On Defense: QWill, Foley Fat, CJ and Maye. Thats pretty sad. Perhaps we can develop some of the younger guys like Phillips, Franklin-Myers, Sheppard, Huff, Zuniga, Hall and Austin on D, and Clark and Mims on O. Still there are too many holes left to fill. We need two WRs, a franchise RB, two TE's, two OL, Two LBs, 2 CB's and a S. That's right - 12 position players are needed to make us a playoff team, maybe you can get four from FA, but that still leaves 8 holes = not one of which is QB. Conclusion, trade down in the draft. finish building the OL, get a real RB, and a WR, Edge, CB and S. roll with Sam next year, determine if Morgan has any potential and keep an eye on the QB class of 2022. If everything falls into place, with a new coach and some new faces, we could make the playoffs next year. Trading for Watson is fools gold at this point, our roster is no better than Houston's. THIS IS HUGE! I have not been this excited about the Jets since Bill Parcells was hired. Saleh is for real, he's going to bust balls and kick ass. This team will play angry and hungry. Kudos to Joe D for not just looking for the next McVay in Joe Brady. Saleh is a leader, the likes of which we haven't seen - well, since Parcells. I could not be happier. Hard Pass on Arthur Smith - unless you think he will buy the Jets from the Johnson's when his daddy drops dead and Arthur inherits billions, Saleh is leaps and bounds more appealing. He has learned defense under Pete Carroll and Gus Bradley and offense under Kyle Shanahan. Logic tells you tho, his heart is with the Lions.

Hard Pass, the Ravens are a defensive factory. even Mike Nolan succeeded there. BFD He's also very much a players coach...Harbaugh is the disciplinarian not Wink.

What you should look for in a head coach is a great inspiration leader who motivates ALL, the players, the assistant coaches and the training staff. He also must have expertise regarding both sides of the ball. This BS of a HC delegating all decisions to a coordinator doesn't float - no dotted lines! Lastly he must hire the great coordinators and great assistants who know how to develop talent - again the HC must oversee everyone and make sure everyone is doing their job.

Look at what happened to Dungy once he had Peyton Manning.

Hiring Mike Nolan as DC has really hurt Dallas, he is the most uncreative DC in the game. He has only had success when coaching elite defenders. Huge blunder by McCarthy.
