They’re 4-2 in their last six and played their asses off against the best, most physical team in the league but ok.

Really?  Ur going there?   The Jets have won five games this year, the best team they beat was the Cowboys (a team who can lose to anyone on any given day because their coach is a moron as well) and we barely hung on.  the Giants LOL, the Skins LOL, we barely edged the Phins and our biggest win came against the free falling Raiders (eyeroll) I believe Gruden hates Derek Carr as his QB and the Raiders will have a new QB next year and be much better because of it.

We played our assess off against the Ravens and lost by three touchdowns (shud have been 4 if not for a blocked punt).  We got blown out by the Bengals while managing just two FGs against a team who lost every other game they played this season by an avg margin of 20 points. We gave the Bengals and the Phins their first wins of the year.  The Jets roster stinks and we shouldn't have expected much more - but our offense often looks lost and out of sync.  the QB is not on the same page as the WRs half the time and Bell and Montgomery have been underutilized to a fault.

I realize the Johnsons are corporate guys so they will naturally gravitate towards more politically polished guys like Idzik and MacLoser and to some extent Bowles, but it is still baffling how they make decisions. Gase is a guy who never should have even been under consideration for the head coaching position because of the job he did in Miami and especially the way that situation ended. I think many fans here would agree that he wasnt even really interview worthy.

Not firing Bowles and MacCraphead at the same time was also completely idiotic.

I did not like the Gase hire. Then he said some things that made me think he would be really good for Darnold. They Darnold struggled trying to be Manning, but gave him the benefit of the doubt again after the offense changed after Darnold's "talk" But clearly Gase is stubborn because the last 2 games he is back to trying to make Darnold Manning.

Fire Gase, Loggains and make Williams HC. He did not do well his first time, but did well as interim last year, his defensive coaching has been very good and it will allow some level of continuity as opposed to blowing the entire thing up.

This is an obvious logical move, make Jim Bob Cooter the OC.  The firing of Gase and promotion of GW wud not cost the po Johnson brothers much $$$.  The players respect GW and the defense is always fired up  - and in no way is GW a players coach.

I'm sorry to say this but the Jets do not have an easy schedule next year in 2020!!!

HOME: Buffalo, Miami, New England, Denver, Oakland, Arizona, San Francisco

AWAY: Buffalo, Miami, New England, Seattle, Los Angeles Ch, Los Angeles Ra, Kansas City

People shouldn't get ahead of themselves with visions of the playoffs because of their free agent signings or drafting. The schedule they have is really tough with teams that made the playoffs this year.

GTFO!  Three west coast Trips??????  Tank for Trevor - its on!  Even if by some miracle we fill all of our needs - we are at best 8-8 with that schedule and Gase still our coach.

Not the end all, but one benefit of 12 instead of 8 is it makes the 5th year option less of a gamble for a borderline player.

It's also more than just that one time $5MM or whatever differential. It also affects extending the player early (or anyway, it can) since the 5th year option $ kinda becomes the baseline amount for any discussion talks. It makes it easier to keep your good players without hampering your ability to sign (or pay more for) others.

Look at a player like Mo. In the preseason of 2014 (maybe even 2015's preseason as well), a Mo extension would have looked like about $10MM. Another season under his belt, with 12 sacks and a pro bowl selection, plus getting franchise tagged at $16MM for the upcoming year. That FT number then became the new floor for a contract extension. It might have benefitted us in another way: we don't know that Mo would have mailed it in if his contract wasn't for 60-70% more per season, and he'd have to keep from getting cut into year 4 to make the same $ he was guaranteed on day 1 on the contract he ultimately got.

No it's not a reason to move down for a lesser prospect, but it is a benefit.

I believe a solid draft strategy is to never pick anyone in the top 10 unless they are a game changer.  Can a DT or DB be a game changer?  Yes but we're talking guys like Donald, Suh, Lott, Lynch, Revis, Gilmore.  Taking guys like Q Williams and Leo Williams just because they are the highest ranked DL in their respective draft was foolish because you have to look at how they rank historically.

    This is a tough one.

On one hand draft position matters a lot.

On the other hand I would like nothing better than to beat the Steelers and put them in jeopardy of missing the playoffs.  I think Tomlin is immensely overrated by the football community and would like to see this 'coach of the year!' nonsense stop.

Considering how he's been able to handle the psycho's and malcontents on the Steelers over the years and got production out of them when nobody else could (Mike Wallace, Rashard Mendenhall, LeVeon Bell, Antonio Brown, Santonio Holmes. Martavious Bryant to name a few), hes never had a losing season and has been to two Super Bowls (winning one) but would have been to more if not for the Cheatriots.   How can you not consider him to be one of the top 10 coaches in the league?   How do you rank the HCs?

    1.  Bill Belichick - Crime pay$!

    2.  Sean Payton - consistently offensively creative.  The Saints, seemingly, are always fired up.

    3.  Andy Reid - has anyone been a better motivator or consistent winner (not having post season success is a huge strike against him tho).

    4.  John Harbaugh - Roster turnover has been constant - as has the winning.

    5.  Kyle Shanahan - very creative, has a very young team and has them focused (except last week) and dominate.

    6.  Pete Carroll - consistent winner, great motivator, forever plagued by occasional brain farts.

    7.  Mike Tomlin - Great motivator, consistent winner, if he had an avg backup QB he could have had a deep playoff run this season.

    8.  Doug Pederson - he has earned the right to be cocky.

    9.  Sean McVay -  If only he had a QB that didnt need to wear a diaper and take xanex on gameday....

    10.  Mike Zimmer - has done an amazing job this year of keeping the team together and focused amidst early season turmoil.

    11. Bill O'Brien - The Texans have always played to their potential, but not exceeded it.

    12.  Sean McDermott - Can't deny what he's accomplished thus far with the Bills - created an elite D and wins with an erratic QB.

    13.  Brian Flores - He really scares me - he may become a great one - look what he has done with a roster full of UFAs and rejects.

    14.  Kliff Kingsbury - Has made Kyler Murray look better than I thought he could be, the roster is not good and most of his losses have been to elite teams.

    15.  Mike Vrabel - his team has taken on his tough guy persona, Mariota is a bust who held him back, Tannenhill is better but with a real franchise QB the Titans could be great.

    16.  Bruce Arians - Welp, he couldn't fix Winston. aside from one great year with Carson Palmer what has he accomplished?

    17.  Matt LaFleur - seems to have a great relationship with Rodgers, the D has been disappointed, but has Mike Pettine ever been good?

    18. Doug Marrone - He really should be higher up on the list, I believe Coughlin is to blame for much of the teams failures.  The bad QB play is due to bad QBs.  This is the second time Foles has Folded on teams not named the Eagles.

    19.  Dan Quinn - have to admire how the team has competed in recent weeks, dont forget he did get to a Super Bowl.

    20.  Frank Reich - If he had good "Luck" he would be more successful.  Still a disappointing performance for a team with as good as a D, OL and RB as they have.

    21.  John Gruden - Did he ruin David Carr?

    22.  Jason Garrett - Has anyone done less with more?

    23.  Matt Nagy - Cant blame him for being stuck with an awful QB - but the Bears really crumbled this year.

    24.  Matt Patricia - Cant blame him for Stafford's injury this season, expected more from the D tho.

    25.  Adam Gase - the Jets roster is awful, but he hasn't made things better - I give Joe Vitt and Gregg Williams credit for keeping the team motivated.

    26.  Anthony Lynn - as much credit he deserves for last season is as much blame he deserves for this season.  Phillip Rivers is old but most of the losses were not his fault.

    27.  Zac Taylor - cant really judge him yet - this team was destined to tank, Amazing they actually won a game (albeit it was against the Jets).

    28. Pat Shurmur - The Giants roster is full of holes, but so are Shurmur's game plans.

    29.  Freddie Kitchens - The offense stinks in spite of being loaded, the defense has a huge disappointment as well.  He simply was not up for the task.

    30. Vic Fangio - such an up and down season - bounces from horrific to decent.

31 and 32 no votes for Fewell and Callahan.

Williams was quoted earlier this year saying that this is the most fun he’s had in coaching, which was interesting. I think if he shuts down the Steelers and Bills, he’ll go into the offseason with a lot of buzz and will likely get a job.

You know, I was fearing the same, he has matured with age and is less psychotic and more articulate than in the past.  He may very well get a HC gig for 2021, noted how well he did with the Browns last year.

Not often a terrible player wins team MVP after the playoff run...

Lets put it this way, he was the type of QB that if everything went right he could play well, great protection, consistent running game, open receivers.  He did not possess an NFL caliber arm, but worst of all he tipped when he was going to throw the ball by patting it just before he threw it,  If we had a top 15 QB we make it to at least one Super Bowl with that roster.

The OL looked decent with Lewis,Compton and McDermott in the game last night.

LOL, dont forget the other three....McDermott was only in as an extra OL, so yeah one would hope 6 would block better than 5.  Wesco looked awful BTW.

Darnolds pick and a few misses seem to be lack of communication as he is playing with 3rd stringers.  he in my mind is the least of our problems. We have waited a lifetime for a QB and now that he is here, he is playing with the practice squad.

We literally have NO TALENT on offense. 8 years of MAc and Idzik have ripped this team to shreds.

Allow me to add that Gase's offense reminds me a lot of Joe Walton's offense. with a mix of over conservative predictability and route trees that take geniuses with mental telepathy to execute.  Rather than simplifying an offense to cater to practice squad caliber receivers, he is still running a scheme that requires the receiver to adjust their route based on their read of the coverage - if Sam does not see the coverage the same way as the receiver you get the apparent brain fart resulting in an incompletion or a pick.   As Ken O'Brien used to say "we were out of sync".

You have to give the Balt head coach and OC a ton of credit, they have designed an offense around him and let him do what he does best.  He also went to a team that did it the right way, built other important aspects.

Lamar by himself would not do near as well if he was on a sad sack team like the jets

If Lamar were a Jet, his career may be over by now.

Gase is a egomaniac psychopathic a$$hole who likes to make and prove points rather than do what's best for his team.  It's a was a glaring issue in Miami as he ran all the talent out of town and it's obvious with how he handles any situation he doesnt like; so he went out of his way to alienate Bell and prove a moronic failed point by letting Powell show that nobody can run behind this OL.

I say this stat over and over again but morons keep saying things like Bell is done.  The Jets RB's meet 1st contact at .5  yards past LOS.  League average is 3 yards.  Nobody is going to be successful behind this OL.  3 RB's are utilized by the Jets, the average is 3.3 ypc and everyone of them is having their worst year from a YPC perspective.  Coincidence?  no

An "offensive genius" cant work in 27 year old Le'Veon Bell's skill set but Todd Haley made him the most dynamic playmaker in the NFL.  It's not a good look for Gase just like the Tannehill situation.

Agreed,  he did the same thing with Jay Ajayi and Jarvis Landry, if he doesn't like/want you he makes the team suffer for it.

I have to say, New York sports fans have to be the most tolerant.  I have never seen a fan of a NY team give an opposing  fan crap for rooting for their team and there is always ample opportunity

Ur joking right?    I admit I am guilty, at the 2018 home opener there was a very obnoxious Dolphin fan sitting next to me who kept on making snide remarks,  when Darnold threw a pick "you guys dont know how to draft a QB, that guy is a bum and will be out of the league before his contract is up".  When Tannenhill made a 3rd down conversion "that's a real QB you see out there, something the Jets will never have", every time the Jets messed up he would start laughing loudly, every time the Dolphins did something good he would through in a dumb remark "you guys have no chance", "I cant believe you Jets fans bother showing up for games", "I knew this one would be easy".  At halftime he turns to me and says "I'm really angry, I came all the way from Florida for one quarter of football, I thought you guys would put up a decent fight but you dont have a team, I dont know how I am going to sit through the second half with the game already over".  I turned to him and called him every name in the book, I said if I hear one more word from you today I am going to personally kick your ass right back to Florida!  The guy then said, dont be so emotional, its just a game to which I replied **** YOU!

I have a weird feeling Sam is gonna show Lamar why he was drafted almost 30 spots ahead of him. Jets moneyline all in

Here's my hunch, Ravens 47 jets 0.   Sam gets sacked 9 times, throws 3 picks and fumbles twice, we wont make it into Raven territory the entire game.

I agree with you because the Raiders are actually a very good team who need this win to continue a drive to the playoffs.

The Raiders are not all that good, the only team with a winning record they have beaten was the Colts.  If the Jets shut down their running game and get pressure in Carr's face they will beat them.

Looks like it’s Gona be a rainy and windy day with also lots of rain prior to game time. Gut tells me that forces the raiders to run more which is a plus for us, on the other hand we may have to run more which hasn’t been such a plus. Thoughts?

It should be dry for most of the game and the winds are not going to be all that strong.

Hello I am a highly qualified lawyer. You are out of luck as far as your PSL payments are concerned but have you considered sneaking onto Chris Johnson's property and murdering his pets? I could get a sweet plea deal where you'd do five years at a minimum security prison, no problem. Call me.

Be careful, this is one of Chris Johnson's pets:

Draft a QB until you have a QB...as of right now, I am sorry, we do not have a QB.  Make whoever you draft compete with Sam.  You can't go forward like this.  Let Douglas put his stamp on the franchise.

    Pick a QB #1.

I disagree in regard to the fact that I firmly believe Sam is the real deal and will become a top 15 QB in this league.  Nevertheless nobody can deny the absolute obscene lack of talent on this roster.  San is due to become a free agent after the 2021 season - in other words the Jets have pissed away his rookie contract as I doubt all the pieces will be in place for the team to be a contender in 2021.  So maybe the smart move is to trade Sam and start anew.  I am not in love with any of the QBs in this year's draft - but we're looking at another losing season in 2020 anyway, so go with a stop gap in 2020 and hope to get a top QB in 2021 - whether that be Lawrence or someone else who rises to the top.

there is thing called next season. Whoever we draft will not be better then adams. Whats wrong with you people

And next season the Jets will stink as well.  Do you realize how far away the Jets are from becoming a contending team?  How about 4-5 OL, 2 WR, 1  TE, 1 RB, 2 CB, 2 EDGE, 2 DL - that doesn;t even include depth and special teams.   We are 1-7 and have been competitive in 2 of 8 games.  Adams would leave via free agency before we have a .500 season anyway.

  19. 7 minutes ago, kevinc855 said:

You guys have no idea how bad our defense becomes with Adams off the field........dude is everywhere....for a draft pick aka lottery ticket...nah bro, HARD NO for me

Who cares how bad the defense gets?  I hope we lose every game by double digits for the rest of the season.  This roster needs a complete overhaul.  Hopefully we finally have a GM who can do it.

I can only get behind this if it's for an absolute haul. I define a haul as a first rounder plus something else.

Do not even think of getting a haul due to two factors - its 1.5 seasons since he has produced (albeit his lack of production this year shouldn't be held against him but it will) and 2) His $alary.

I'd be shocked and thrilled if we could get a 2nd Rounder.
