Because this is what the media does. They stir the pot. If JD trades Darnold for Tua, I would have to really question his qualifications.  Darnold is not Josh Rosen. Darnold showed significant  progress at the end of last season and has not played a game this season where he was totally healthy  but even then made a remarkable 2 point conversion play. Darnold has shown he can throw on the run, he has better than average accuracy,  he sees the field at an NFL level and has pocket presence. All we know about Tua is he is an excellent college QB. A lot of people thought Jeff George and Ryan Leaf were can't  miss QB's. Tua might be the next Mega bust. Sam also could have been o E but it isn't  looking that way. You don't  dump a QB like Darnold for an unknown.

ur missing the point, the Jets as a team are in no condition to develop a QB right now, with a couple of excellent drafts we could be in two years - by that time Darnold will be a FA and fed up with losing.  Nobody is suggesting a trade of Darnold for Tua, but instead trade Darnold to the Cowboys, Bears or Rams for a freaking haul and then draft a new QB with the #1 pick, whether it be Tua or Hebert or Fromm.  Draft OL, WRs and a RB and build for the purpose of building a championship team...this band aid approach does not work.   Our roster is worse than last year because Osemele is a major downgrade from Carpenter, Kahil is a major downgrade from Harrison and Beachum got 10 years older in the offseason and Shell has regressed.   We counted on Enuwa, Anderson and Crowder and Herndon to be down the field threats, one's gone, ones suspended, one is underperforming and the last one is one dimensional.  It would be a very fair statement to say that every move this offseason backfired, so we wnet from having a crappy roster to a bottom 3 roster.  Mac deserved to get fired, lets celebrate his departure and start from scratch or next year will be even a bigger disappointment.

Its a legitimate thought.  Sam has proved nothing at this point(granted he hasnt played much).  We should still have a solid 10 games to judge Sam on this year.  But nothing he has done up to this point suggest he will be a good or even great qb.

If sam has a mediocre year and if tua is a cant miss superstar, you most definately pull the trigger.

I just fear that our roster is in such bad shape it will take 2-3 GREAT drafts to get us to a competitive level - so we must be realistic and understand that we are wasting Sam's career by keeping him.  If the Jets ended up with the #1 pick in the 2020 draft you have two choices - trade the #1 pick for a haul or trade Darnold for a haul.  Given, as we look forward to 2020, we desperately need 4-5 OL, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 DL, 2 Edge and 2 CBs - thats 19 holes to fill!  We could keep Sam and rise to the ranks of mediocrity, maybe even a wild card birth - however our roster is so obscenely void of NFL talent we would be foolish to think Sam would take us to the Super Bowl anytime soon regardless of how talented he is.  Then if we keep Sam and we peak at "decent" or "competitive"  why would Sam re-up here?  Then you end up losing him in two years for nothing and we are back to square one.  Personally I believe Same will become a top 5 QB in this league some day and quite possibly the best from the 2019 class - nevertheless you just dont keep him hostage while try to figure out the rest of the roster.

If we are 0-7 by the time the trade deadline rolls around, wouldn't be wise to deal away Robby Anderson, Le'veon Bell, Jamaal Adams and Leo Williams for picks?   Then before the draft ship Darnold to the Cowboys, Rams or Bears for a haul of future picks (say the 2020 #1, #2 and #4 the 2021 #2 and #3).

This roster is pathetic and needs a complete overhaul....for anyone who doubts this please share with me what is this team's strength?  What do we do well?  answer NOTHING.

IDK Bro, any given Sunday is one thing, but even before the season started most felt it would be an incredible feat to go 2-2 in the next four.  All four teams have great pass rushes and CBs who can cover.  Knowing what we now know (Enuwa out, awful O, awful CBs and no pass rush)  how can you say an 0-7 start is not likely?

Sam Darnold has a 4 year contract.  If we can't validate Sam as a legitimate franchise quarterback until Year #3, we have exactly 1 year left under his rookie deal to build a Super Bowl caliber roster before he gets a massive contract and we can't afford to surround him with the right talent.

Great QB's in the modern NFL get all the money and that means they don't get enough skill position players, OL men, or a D worth a crap around them.  We need THIS to be the year of proof so that we can go crazy spending money and attracting the right talent in Year #3 and Year #4 before the window slams shut.

So we can't IR him.  He's got to come back and play the last 8 or 10 games, whatever.

    SAR I

The Jets organization blew this whole rebuild.  We now have an apparent franchise QB, but of our other 21 starters, maybe about 6 of them would actually start on another team.  What if the Jets end up with the #1 pick and Tua sitting there waiting to be drafted - do you trade that pick for a haul or draft Tua and trade Darnold to a team that is a franchise QB away from a Super Bowl - like Chicago or Dallas?

SAR has a lot of money on the Jets making the playoffs.  He's willing to kill off our QB to try to make that happen.

Make the ginger play!  It's not like he has a soul anyways!

If the Wilpons owned the Jets, Darnold would be starting this week.

"The worst coach ever who will never coach again", Rex Ryan took Mark ******* Sanchez to back to back AFCCG's and it's too much to ask Adam Gase to score a TD with Luke Falk as his QB.  The same Luke Falk who started all 4 years in college and threw for 14,000+ yard and 119 TD's in his career at WSU.

Ummm, having the #1 defense and #1 rushing attack in 2009 and #3 defense and #2 rushing attack in 2010 may have had a little to do with Sanchez' and the team's success.

The difference between Trevor Siemian and Luke Faulk in negligible.   In fact, they played in the same Football game together on the same team.  Luke looked significantly better as did the offense with him under center.  Luke was a 6th round pick out of Washington St. that many people had as a sleeper pick.  Garnder Minshew was a 6th round pick who went to the same college, he's 2-1.   Kyle Allen was a UDFA and is 2-0 for the Panthers.   Amazing how those Head Coaches arent just shivering in the feedle position like Adam Gase.

Minshew and Allen actually have NFL caliber arms - Falk does not.   Minshew and Allen are playing for teams that have a playoff caliber roster, the Jets do not.

What a freaking joke this is. This kid getting mono screwed the entire season. Meanwhile you guys are blaming Gase for losing with a PS QB, lol.

Imagine this place if another young QB missed at least a quarter of the season with mono? We'd be laughing our a** off and ripping  him apart.

What I cannot understand is why we didnt sign a real QB when Darnold went down.  You cannot essentially forfeit 3-5 games of a 16 game schedule.

Didnt kotite bring him in off the streets?  Hoftra alumni

The Head Coach of Hofstra at the time was Joe Gardi who was the Jets DC under Joe Walton when Kotite was the OC, Gardi told Kotite to bring in Chrebet....having said that Kotite did a great job of stacking the Jets with talent during his two years, solid talent evaluator, horrific coach.

Kahlil, Winters and Osemele are like Matadors out there.  Apparently Osemele has been "done" for two years now, unfortunately nobody told Mac.  Winters was a barely serviceable OL, now he would be  a detriment to a practice squad.  Kahlil never came out of retirement.

What exactly is Adam Gase style of offense so far I have seen nothing but dink and doink plays called.

LOL but that is what Gase is all about, quick short passes, shallow crosses, bubble screens and run the ball.  Our problem is crossing patterns take time to develop and our OL cant protect long enough, and screens require agile OL which we dont have.

    True. He has awesome weapons.

He has to start playing better soon, that’s for sure

As much as I hate to admit it, Baker has premier skills and I think he will be fine in the long run unless he gets injured.  I think, for now, he struggling because his two top weapons have personalities much larger than his own.

I never discredited or credited Mangini with anyone in particular... I was just saying he was a great talent evaluator... He is well known for that but you don't have to believe me. Mangini wasn't a great coach and he has a cush gig at the moment so that is why he is out of the NFL.. Plus he ruffled feathers of certain owners in the league with the spygate sh*t.

The day Mangini took the job with the Jets he ruined his NFL career, you dont cross your mentor..period (especially since it was Belicheat).  He shud have waited for another opportunity and he'd still be coaching today.

F'n Stephen Hill. Every time I see his name I'm reminded of the douchey Jets fans that would talk down to you like you hadn't a clue if you didn't think he was about to be a beast.

I actually thought Stephen Hill was coming along nicely until a game against the Steelers when Troy Palomalu laid him out with a vicious hit that would be a 15yd penalty in todays game.  It seemed like after that hit, Stephen was like: this football stuff aint for me.

Beating the Giants by 14 is not barely winning and we had the Cinn game under control until the 3rd qrt. Seattle on beat Cinn by 1 so don’t act like Cinn is some bum team. I put money down right now that the Jets don’t beat them.

Other win was vs the Jets. The Jets at full strength. Yeah the Jets are the Jets. Enough said.

A pee wee football team that blitzes every down would make Eli Manning piss himself.

LOL Cincinnati is a bum team, they might win 3 games this year if AJ Green comes back healthy.   Seattle is not looking good at all BTW.
