So if a team offered us a first round pick for Crowder you would say no? What about a 2nd? or a 3rd? There is obviously a point where you would say that the draft pick is more valuable than Crowder or Maye.

I don't think this is a firesale where we are looking to just give players away

I would trade both Crowder and Maye.  Crowder is injured too often and yes he's only here for one more year and Maye is also has a checkered injury history and he's good but not great.  When you are starting from scratch you dont want aging and or expensive player who are replaceable.  Get some more draft capital, if we can three 2nd's for Darnold, Maye and Crowder you do it and pray that JD will select future pro bowlers.

Jets lose 56-10.  The 10 points come when the Chiefs put in their fourth stringers.

I agree, this one turns ugly fast.  Lev Bell will rush for over 100.  Cheifs score on their first five possession and go up 35-3 at the half.  Second half will be nap time (or leaf cleanup if you are not exhausted from misery).

John Ross in Cinn a first round pick from a few years ago hasnt been able to get passes...I'm pretty sure he becomes the best Wr on the team day 1 here.

Think we should send a 4Th for him? I do. Go get him joe. Not sure how his money 💰 goes if we bring him here but having him would go along way with a couple high rooks next yeae.

    We could do alot worse...

Go get Ross...damn Cinn is closed at the WR

You could probably get him for free, if anything a conditional 6th.  He hasn't shown a damn thing in the NFL.

What are you even talking about? " Would not work in today's NFL " ?

You realize Harbaugh coached SF from 2011-2015 right?  He was 44 - 19 and consistently in the top 1/3rd of the league in offense, so rushing or not, that straight dumps on your argument.

"Today's" NFL is barely different than it was in 2015.

That is deceiving,   They had a top five defense that set up the offense.  He only coached then FOUR years - 2011-2014 and had three winning seasons.  In his four years his passing offense ranked 29th, 23rd, 30th and 30th - that is not a recipe for success in today's NFL and certainly would be a waste of a Trevor Lawrence.  You could say he would adjust to the talent he has - but listen to rumbles of the Michigan base who complain about Harbaugh's overly conservative offense.  The best comp today for Harbaugh's style would be Tennessee - but they have a monster RB, dynamic WRs, a great OL and a dominating D - then add to that - Vrabel appears to be an exceptionally intelligent football coach - by far the best of Little Bill's kids.

Also, look at Harbaugh's coaching style - not really a great schemer, but more of an overly intense rah-rah type who will eventually lose the veterans.

If you want experience you go for Jack del Rio or hope that Pederson or by some miracle Payton shakes loose.   Jason Garrett may not be a bad choice - I feel Jerry Jones interferes a lot - so perhaps Garrett cannot be completely to blame for the Cowboys shortcomings - nevertheless I recall seeing too many games where the 'boys came out flat.  If you want to roll the dice with a young OC, then you go for Joe Brady or Kevin O'Connell.  I look at Greg Roman as a very intelligent in a book smart kind of way - but not really Head Coaching material.  Daboll is interesting - but he does have close ties to Little Bill so he may not want to associate himself with the Jets.   You want a young coach with good genes?  Go for Scott Turner or Brian Callahan.

That’s a ton of points in an NFL game. Will the Jets keep it within 20 points?

What has given Mahomes trouble this season has been pass protection - I do not envision the Jets being able to create the kind of pass rush Mahomes has faced thus far - unless of course Zuniga is the second coming of LT.  On the other side of the ball, I could see Spagnola throwing blitz after blitz and once again burying Darnold.  So yes I took the Chiefs.

Among the names being tossed around, show me someone with a better head coaching record than Harbaugh.

    This is like bizzaro world.

I see half the board cry on a daily basis that our coaches suck and they are tired of losing, then some of those same people cry about Harbaugh and want another unproven commodity like Bienemy.

    Harbaugh wins, everywhere he goes.

Yes his overall record is great....so was Marty Schottenheimer's, who like Jim - preferred a low-risk ground n pound offense that would not work in today's NFL.

    And?

He is still more successful than every coach we have ever had added together.

With that attitude, lets just get Al Groh back - he is the only head coach in history to have a winning record for his tenure as a Jets head coach (other than Tuna).

It runs thru 2023.  I think there's logic to the 2 sides parting ways.  The Saints need draft capital as they prepare to completely tear down.  And Payton probably has little interest in being there for that.

The Chargers are a bad team (1-4).

    So what gives?

Do ya think it helps a QB to have targets like Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Hunter Henry?  Oh  and an OL that actually affords Herbert with a clean pocket.   Ask yourself this - Has Sam Darnold had anyone even remotely as talented as Allen, Williams or Henry?????????  Not to mention that Gase's offense looks like a scheme intended to compete in the special olympics.

During Sam's rookie year, the first thought in his mind was to throw the ball downfield.  Last year and this year the first thought in Sam's mind is how much insurance does he have.

Belichick is also a p***y for going to smaller market Boston over this great opportunity he had in NY...

For a brief moment you dropped your schtick Sunday in the gamethread and acted like a human. Back to the unfunny, stale, and pathetic schtick.

Was it him being scared of coaching in NY, being uncomfortable stepping into Tuna's shoes, or Woody  just being a dick?

Mike Mccarthy would not have been the guy either.

It should have been Rhule. Jets were just never going to allow it. Imagine the audacity to select your own staff?

I dont know if its fair to judge McCarthy yet,  the offense was humming with Dak at QB, Dalton is who he is, not a leader on the field and can be very inaccurate with his throws at times.  They have had a slew of injuries on both sides of the ball as well.  My only problem with McCarthy is - why the heck do you choose Mike Nolan as DC?   Nolan is as vanilla as it gets on D.

Could the Jets realistically get a better deal than what was given for Ricky Williams and would it be worth it? So a teams entire 2021 draft pick allotment plus a 2022 1st? Is that realistic and would you do it? If not....what do you think it would take to make the trade away from Trevor Lawrence worth it?"

Two issues, 1) Not everyone is as stupid as Mike Ditka - you need more than one player to win in the NFL - so no - no one is trading their entire draft.  2)  There exists a possibility that TL will balk at playing for the Jets - if TL does come out and wants to be traded - a la Elway or Eli, you do it.  So what do we get?  I would want the 2021, 2023 and 2025 First Round Picks and the 2022 and 2024 Second Round Picks (that's one 2nd rnd pick better than the RGIII trade - regardless the fact TL is a better prospect than RGIII - obviously the "Washington Football Team" overpaid.

Our opportunities to select impact players in the future would then be as follows:

                1st Rnd       2nd Rnd      3rd Rnd

    2021        2                 1                   2

    2022        2                 2                   1

    2023        2                 1                   1

    2024        1                 2                   1

    2025        2                1                    1

That's 22 potential impact selections in 5 years.

I still like SNY.  Loved how Bart Scott ripped the organization and its absolute lack of pride or shame.  I do miss Ray Lucas who was always completely candid and entertaining.

I'd pay to see a Jets post-game show hosted by Ray Lucas and Bob Page.

If this is true, and I doubt it is, you can pretty well expect to see Gase back next year.

Almost impossible to pull off an  intentional tank with out the HC being involved.

Can see it now.  Week 17 against the Pats who already have a  playoff spot.  Jets are 0-15, Giants have 1 win.  Lil Bill already knows he's going to be Giants HC in 21.

What a fun game that would be

They'll be tossing the ball around like hot potato.

The same Robbie Anderson that is on pace to have WR1 numbers in Carolina this year? The Bengals had a decent supporting cast, but to say they were elite is stretching the truth to make your point. They had a decent team, made the playoffs and were promptly bounced out. I look at that list of players and I don't see elite anywhere other than AJ Green, we'll have to agree to disagree.

I'd love nothing more than for Darnold to be good, but he hasn't done squat in the NFL. 32 out of 32 teams would start Dalton over Darnold to win a game today. The only upside Darnold has over Dalton is youth and the mythical 'potential/upside' that hasn't happened in 3 years. The comp was Darnold's floor was Dalton and upside was Romo, now its looking like the comp is Darnold's floor is Sanchez and his ceiling is Dalton. Which brings me back to my original post, that he's a poor man's Dalton so why would they trade for him?

Hmm, maybe having Curtis Samuel and DJ Moore on the field at the same time has helped Robbie just a bit, not to mention he plays on a team whose OL gives his QB time to throw - something Sam never had.

I dont know where you get your scouting reports from - but Darnold was never compared to either Tony Romo or Andy Daulton.  You are just spewing trash.  With your reasoning, Lamarr Jackson, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield would be superstars on this current Jets team.  You are probably one of them who wrote off Derek Carr, well look at that, all of the sudden he's playing pretty damn well again now that he has a stable of weapons and a 1,000 rusher.

It is beyond asinine to write off Darnold looking at the situations he has been thrown into.

I didn't know having a WR1 turned a team into having an 'Elite supporting cast'

You dont watch much football, do you?

Dalton always had a WR1, WR2 and a WR3.  Darnold has never had ONE WR aside from a usually lazy Robby.  How about TE's?  Gresham was an elite TE, Eifert was an impact player when healthy.  The Bengals offense had a 1,000 yd rusher every year Dalton was QB except for one - that year they had two 700yd rushers.

I'm lost for words. Dalton had AJ Green, Mohammed Sanu, Marvin Jones, Jermaine Gresham, Joe Mixon and Jeremey Hill in their primes and could never get it done.  Darnold has not played with anyone who could be mentioned in the same sentence as any of those guys.

Its really pointless to argue with you - you have decided that Darnold sucks - good for you, take a stand and stick by it, your parents must be proud.

Elite supporting cast in Cincinatti? Did you think that one through all the way?

    AJ Green

    Mohammed Sanu

    Marvin Jones

    Jermaine Gresham

    Tyler Boyd

Also, they had a successful running every year Dalton was a starter.

Who has Darnold played with on the Jets?  Ohh I forgot, silly me, he's blown opportunities for greatness with teammates such as Isaiah Crowell, Matt Forte, Chris Herndon, Terrelle Pryor, Rishard Matthews, Vyncint Smith, Neal Sterling and Josh Malone.  We should have been a playoff team the last two years if it weren't for Darnold.

The hate for Darnold is unreal, he's been trying to develop into an NFL QB while playing on a Division III College caliber team.

They probably don't need to when Darnold is a poor man's Dalton

That is such a blind comment, you are comparing a QB (Dalton) who has had an elite supporting cast for most of his career and still never looked great vs Darnold who has never had an elite teammate.  Dallas is a win now team and Dalton has been there, failed at it.
