  1. Rhule: sign me as backup. I will give you some really terrible days.
  2. I don't find bringing in a vet necessary as a mentor but the team needs somebody who can run an offense in the backup role. If that's somebody who can and will provide vet insight to the rest of the QBs then great. I don't know that the two other guys are ready to do that in a game. I like the idea that we might develop a cheap backup that can be sold off after his rookie contract but in June we have no idea whether either of the non-Wilson QBs are ready to suit up as a backup and keep the offense afloat. There's still time to pick somebody up later in the offseason if needed but I am lo

  4. CJ did not come in with a plan for things to work out this way and did not steer the organization. He seemed to be more of a passenger than the driver for which the only credit he likely deserves for how things ended up is that he did not prevent it from happening--and you can only say that in hindsight knowing things maybe improved after several awful years. That's not saying much for a person running a billion dollar enterprise.
  5. I've been saying this every time it comes up but you'll never see any any kind of jet on a Jets uniform. Although the military is a huge sponsor of the NFL the NFL wants the game to be family friendly so all mascots and logos have to be family friendly (former Washington imagery aside). After 9/11 an association with passenger jets and NYC is too uncomfortable to be family friendly. The 80s Jets logo snuck in a fighter jet-ish logo and that's probably the last time any jet will make it into the logo. I don't even think the NFL would approve recycling that logo into a new one or let them opt fo
  6. I'm forty, never played professionally and still waiting for the right situation before considering retirement. This could happen.
  7. He was a fine player but I can't agree that his performance with the Jets was worth $21MM/year for what he was being asked to do here. By your own description his "job was to set the table for the linebackers" but you don't need to pay out the fifth highest DL salary for somebody playing a support role. He might be worth $21MM in the right position but he wasn't put in a position to put $21MM worth of performance on the field with this team. If you pay playmaking salaries to people in support roles--no matter how good they might be--you're going to have every other player demanding the s
  8. I don't know why the team would need two highly paid safeties given the many needs across the board.
  9. This is fine. Every new head coach tends to want to bring a few guys over who know the system which makes sense. This isn't a bad signing and if it helps Saleh get his system installed quickly it's well worth the cost to bring him on board.
  10. I find him inauthentic and as annoying as his cultish fanbase. It was annoying to have his Florida fanbase pretend to be Jets fans as much as it was having people who have barely ever watched football proclaim the only reason you could think Tebow was lousy in the NFL was because you hate Christians. Oh boy. He was lousy in the NFL but he was a great college QB. He's taken his public image and college success and run with them. He's been given an enormous amount of opportunity because the NFL (and to a much lesser extent the MLB) wanted to cash in on his image and make the sport(s)
  11. I agree with comments above that with a rookie team and coaching staff there will be mistakes and winnable games may be lost over those mistakes. As much as I want to demand more wins the better metric is whether the team is moving forward towards becoming a competitive force over the long term. It will be painful to watch but I'd rather take four wins and a lot of solid performances in losses than a Rex Ryan style eight wins and eight incredibly bad losses. It is unreasonable to expect a single year of rebuild would become a winning season when they didn't go full tilt spending in FA for shor
