Thats really a Bob Saleh team if a ever seen one, 1 week the defense plays very well the offense doesn't show up the next week the defense gets run over and the offense is a little better.

Team is young and coaching staff is only in year 2. He'll get consistency as the season goes on and both sides will suck all the time.

A player must secure the ball before it hits the ground.  The issue was whether Samuel maintained possession (hands control the ball) or whether the ball hit the ground and the ground assisted him.  When he hit the ground, the ball hits the ground as well and moves.  That's a trap, not a catch.  There's nothing resembling a "fumble" here at all.

The "football move" applies only after the player catches the ball with both feet on the ground.

The rulebook disagrees with you.. It says,

Control the ball, get two feet or another body part down, and make a "football move,"

It defines Football Move as "performs any act common to the game (e.g., tuck the ball away, extend it forward, take an additional step, turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so."

The NFL also clarifies: "Movement of the ball does not automatically result in loss of control."

If you want to disagree that he 'tucked the ball away' before it hit the ground so didn't make a football move, then knock yourself out.

But he didn't.  They didn't score less points in the 2nd half of the season, did they?  They had the clunkers against the Bills and Saints, but 24 against the Dolphins and Bucs is reasonable and 26 against the Jags fine.  I think they played pussy the last week, but that was understandable considering what they had and what they were facing.  Their biggest games were game 7 and 8.  I think the "watered down offense to prevent turnovers while also preventing scoring" was on WIlson not flinging it around like a crazy person.

??  You mean the interception that clearly hit the ground while Samuel's hands were not under the ball?

hands being under the ball is not a requirement of a catch. He had two hands on the ball and made a 'football move'. *IF* anything, the ground caused a fumble.. which he recovered.

You can give them that one if you want and take the one where the offensive player grabbed the defender and the defender got flagged.

Never understood the adulation he got latter half of last year. So he watered down the offense to prevent turnovers while also preventing scoring. So what.

Watching the Jets I can't tell which side is the one trying to stop points from being scored..

The only way the Jets win this game is by hitting on at least 2 big plays - like 60 yard TD passes. Jets are not going to be able to move the ball up and down the field against this Cleveland defense. Mike LaFluer mentioned that Carolina had about 100 yards of offense on 52 plays - tough sledding but they hit on 2 big big plays to score some points. I think the Jets will need to do the same and I think the Jets and Joe Slacco will try a few times for the big play - they need to hit on a few of them or I don't see the Jets winning this game.

probably better off handing off to Carter/Hall on every play and hoping they break one.
