  1. Some may have interest in two articles changing the pace on coaching/gm search.

First -- Information/analysis breakdown of what Jets would look like if they made the switch to a 4-3 defense. Includes needs, names to target and more:
Second-- Beginning of the year, Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh said he wanted to play in NY. In a 3-4, that wouldn't work. In a 4-3? That's possible. Financially, Jets could afford either him, or Jason Pierre-Paul, with no significant cap hit or impact on Wilkerson/Richardson.  Includes cap numbers, analysis and lineup possibilities + how it could work
  2. While Geno Smith threw the ball just 13 times on Monday, there was much more within his play that could be analyzed other than just what appeared on the stat sheet. Believe it or not, there was plenty of positives from the second-year pro, along with some negatives.

At the following link, you will find a comprehensive film review of Smith's play, complete with stats, screen grabs from coaches film analysis and more.

Please note, due to constraints with the website and ability to put photos in just a normal post, a slideshow had to be used. However, there should be no pop ups during the slide show that prohibit viewing. The only ads show up to the left and the right of the post.

  3. Thought some would enjoy this --
At practice on Friday, the Jets defensive line went through receiver drills as each faced off 1-on-1 on each other and Dunbar threw them passes. Leger Douzable beat Wilkerson bad, then dropped the pass.
Here's what he had to say about the drop --some hysterical quotes-- along with a link to the video (in story).

  4. Fans,

Based off of some feedback, I'm working on an article looking at the 31 other NFL teams and their general managers. In particular, the success, or lack there of, in their first two seasons compared with John Idzik. For specific reasons, it will only include a record through the first 10 games of their second season.

In order to organize the article, I was going to put it in "slideshow" format in order to separate each general manager. Rather than putting everything on one page, I figured this would be an easy way to separate each general manager and make it easy to direct between one or the other. On each page, there will be direct links to each specific general manager so there is no need to click through in order to find the one you like. Or, you can view each by clicking through.

I wanted your opinion on that format, or if you believe fans would prefer a different means by which to have the information delivered. I know when it comes to slide shows, there is a mixed reaction.

  5. Thank you to all that replied, I appreciate it. From what many have said, you may like some of the featured articles we've run on the site. I encourage you to poke around and look at the content that is there. You'll find that, aside from a few sporadic columns, there is not many opinionated pieces. I do my best to report the facts and just the facts.

  6. Who ties Woodys shoes in the morning? Cause no way hes got enough mental capacity to figure out the cross over looping stuff. Seriously thanks for reaching out to us fans. How about a feature story on the draft/player evaluation process. Seems we don't have a process but rather fall in love with rep, nicknames or stories (Louisville Slugger for example).

This will definitely be something that will be published come the draft. I have a few sources that can offer an inside look about how the draft takes place. From the scouting, to the actual selection.

If featured articles are things you like, I encourage you take a look at a few exclusives that were published:

On the site's main home page, there is an option to sign up for a newsletter where every week featured articles and some of the better content that is produced (non-breaking news) will be sent out to those that subscribed. If not, every Saturday a new featured article is run and published. You can keep a look out for it on the site's main page, or on twitter (nyjets.about.com). It is also tweeted out each week.

  7. Jets fans,

Good afternoon, my name is Connor Hughes. Informally introducing myself, I am a recent hire by About.com and employed as the site's New York Jets beat writer.

Before hopping on the Jets beat, I covered both high school sports and the New York Giants. Over the last few weeks, I've been looking to interact and meet Jets fans in order to get a better understanding of the information they want. At the end of the day, how good I am at my job is based off of writing and creating content that you, the fans, want to read.  With New York, I'm fully credentialed and at each practice, game and any other team function.

I've reached out to a few message boards to informally introduce myself, and let fans know that if there is every a story you want told, question you want answered or anything in between, please do not hesitate to reach out. I can be reached via email (connor_j_hughes@yahoo.com) or on twitter @Connor_J_Hughes. If you like, you can check out the site, too. NYJets.about.com

My door is open, so if there is anything you'd like to know regarding the team, please do not hesitate to ask.
