  1. i have a challenge for my follow jets fans...

Tell me one thing Saleh has done well. Seriously, just give me one tangible thing that he has done well. Players rally around him? that's not a thing, outside of mangini i think players generally speak out for their coach.

    what i see:

    - undisciplined

    - unprepared (lets not lose sight of the fact that he decided not to play anyone in the preseason)

    - can't generate pass rush with a top paid D line + 2 very good corners

    - safeties are probably the worst in football

    - illogical love of Joe Flacco (imagine if we actually had a competent backup like brissett...yeah i know)

    - terrible media handling, basically lied to us about Wilson and then chose not to come clean

    - chose Lefleur to come with him as OC, chances are he could have had mcdaniel (speculation)

    - hired a terrible DC and letting him sink this team although the ******* guy is a top defensive coordinator

i just want someone to tell me the 1 thing that he's done well enough to warrant a HC job (that wasn't in SF or seattle).

How can you really blame him when he was moved all around the line like a cheap whore

if you are a good player, you have to figure out a way to not suck. in these 3 games...he's been the weak spot on the line at least 2.

But, I checked the box score in the 3rd quarter. Here is my breakdown:

    1. As I feared, the Jets got no pressure on Burrow. How do I know? I didn’t look at our sack numbers, I looked at the Cincy WR stats and saw the #2 and #3 WRs were blowing up, which means plenty of time to go tutu progressions and connect on deep throws.

    2. Saleh’s defense couldn’t get off the field. I didn’t look at time if possession, but I saw a gross disparity between the team in terms of plays run.

    3. We couldn’t protect Flacco. Our leader WR was a RB, he had INT, it was obvious he was not getting time to execute.

I’m glad I missed the games. I’ve seen this show before, too many times to count. It’s the Jets script, no matter who the coach is.

you forgot the many many fumbles by the veteran QB

3 games in what i noticed more than anything else is a lack of zip on the ball - he may be accurate but in location but the lack of energy causes his throws to be behind, too short, not in stride for the WR’s.  BHall should have had a long gain if not scored on that pass, both times we held our breathe its because Wilson is either coming back for the ball or leaping high (a lot of the WR’s have to do this).  I have had my fill of Flacco in full time duty.

they keep talking about Flacco zipping the ball in...and i saw considerable wobble in his throws. i think his arm being anything special is so in the rear view mirror its not even a memory.

Right, and at least you can look at the oline, and see injuries having an effect. What is the DLines excuse? All praise and no criticism gasses up a guy's head.

no excuses but our safeties and linebackers are not good.

  6. here is the thing that drives me nuts...Joe Flacco is a veteran/SB winning blah blah....he FUMBLED 3 TIMES and it should have been 4 on that "incomplete pass". you know you have the movement skills or a sloth, the one thing the should be able to do is hold onto the football.

He should have not even been on the team this year.  And when he was he should have been behind both white and crappy streveler.

Bad QB and then add on top immobile QB.

you mean having an immobile QB behind a so-so offensive line is not a great idea?

For something there is a "long list" of, everyone seems to cite only the Bengals.

Yes, they went from 2-14 to 4-11-1 to 10-7 and a lucky SB appearance.

Mostly on the back of a QB who put up 70%, 4,600 yards and 34 TD's in his second year.

Do you think Zach is a 70%, 4,600 yard, 34 TD, put the team on his back type of guy this year?

I would argue it's perhaps the best possible thing for his development.

To watch, and learn.  He was clearly unready last year, now he's hurt, again.

Sitting a while, and learning how it's done, while getting healthy, may be the best way to salvage his potential, long term.

If he's that weak, mentally, he was never the Man to start with.

All the Team cares about is winning.

Be assured, if Zach is put back as starter and materially underperforms Flacco, the Team will hate him for it.

We have three more years of control after this season.  There is literally no rush, except for that which fans create.

i take no pleasure in being right...but hopefully we can put the Joe Flacco garbage to rest now.

You're right, we don't agree. :) But we're doing so civilly, and that's cool.

IMO It's Kibble THEN Steak, not Kibble OR Steak.

IMO There are no instant fixes, no shortcuts, no instant solutions.  There is no jumping directly from 4-13 to 12-5 and a Title.  Not even with a good drafted QB.

Every team must work hard and build to get to decent before they get to elite/consistently good.

Some fans have reached a nadir of "all or nothing, bet it all on the QB, and lose out otherwise", and it's just not a route to success.  It's also not very fun.  Winning is fun.  And fun matters too.  Life is too short.

Wins matter, every win matters.  There is no "meaningless wins".

IMO this is the difference between financial planning, and waiting to win the lottery.

Continually successful teams financially plan.  Loser teams, like us, just wait to the lottery, with about equivalent odds.

Hell, half our last few drafted QB's had no chance, even if they weren't busts themselves, given how little support they had around them.

I don't know, if I had all the solutions, I'd be an NFL GM with a ring.

I'm just suck of sucking, sick of being the joke team in the NFL, sick of Sundays not being fun.  No amount of "just keep waiting, the golden future is almost here" will convince me at this point.  Show me, don't tell me.

there is a long list of teams that have done this very thing....starting with the Bengals.

the flaw with your argument is that it is kibble or steak, because sitting Wilson stunts his development, impacts his confidence, and standing with the team. he needs to fail, the jets cant just let him rot on the bench while they roll with joe flacco and expect to have him start next year.

  10. 2 hours ago, Warfish said:

You make it sound so noble.

Sadly though, you haven't gotten better.  You got less than kibble.  For over a decade now.

And you're never going to get to better, without getting the kibble first.

look i don't think we are going to agree, but its take the kibble and lose your place in line for the steak. i am 42, ive been through a lot of the lows, but saying we suck ill take a few wins just for the same of getting a few wins is such SOJ thinking. If we can't build a team that can compete for a superbowl, they should fire everyone...and i dont think we can do that without Wilson or knowing what he is.

The point tho, was the difference in how rooting is looked at here at JN.  Without question, a post like yours aimed as Wilson would have been attached hard as being "Wilson hate".  An active effort root against the player.  But because it was aimed at Flacco, it's all good, no one even notices.

By "you people" do you mean a poster who wanted to cut Flacco in the offseason, again wanted to cut him after week 1, and still doesn't think he's very good or the best QB to be starting, i.e. me?

Here is exhibit B this thread exposes, people presuming other people are in some big homogeneous camp of "Flacco Lovers" in this case, "losing our minds" over him, lol.

The fact that the person he is responding to has been a dedicated "Flacco must  go" guy apparently never entered his mind.

The fact that people might be losing their minds because they've been starved for ages for even average QB play, nope, not a factor.

To a starving man (fan), even kibble looks like prime beef.

there are those of us that take the kibble, and those that would rather try for something better...enjoy the kibble :)

Is that what you are rooting to have happen?

Because if you had written "Wilson is going to lay an egg his first week back", you can be assured the Zach "lovers" here would be claiming that you were actively rooting for that outcome.

Rooting has nothing to do with anything...you people are losing your minds over a guy who is 37 and 2 years removed from 3 years after he did anything. everyone loves the vinny story, but vinny threw 18 TD's the year before he came here....for context Flacco threw 20 once since 2015 (thats 7 years ago)....and had 15 coming into this year in 3 years...including Denver where they gave him every chance to play before replacing him.

and again, i dont care if Wilson sucks....happy to go into the draft next year with a QB in the crosshairs...but absolutely cannot go into next year saying, well Zach didnt play last year because Joe Flacco got us to 8-9/9-8....so now we need to play him and see what happens.

btw all of this is pointless because the Jets believe in Wilson and will start him, and thats all that matters....enjoy another week of old man river.

If Flacco is winning you roll. When/if he falters, BYU gets an opportunity. If he sucks, switch back.

yeah well thank god Saleh and JD are committed to building a perennial winner and not a 9 win team with a 50 year old QB. you guys are out to lunch...and i mean that with all due respect.

  14. 19 minutes ago, jgb said:

Echoing @doitny I don’t think anyone has any real hope that this is the year jets catch lightening in a bottle but there is a huge benefit to ensure competent QB play to develop our future contributors. Would prefer like all of us if BYU is that guy but we cannot squander that in hopes of developing one guy at the expense of many.

so you sit him if Flacco played well enough to keep afloat? how is that finding anything out?

  15. 1 minute ago, doitny said:

i only want to roll with Flacco if he plays good and develops this young offense. GW had a great game. that has to continue.

and yes playoffs in on my mind. let Flacco play until we are 2 games under 500. why do we have to keep throwing away seasons. plus we dont need 14 games to see what Zach is. he isnt a rookie no more. i dont expect him to throw a 300 yds game in his 1st game or 2 but he cant come out with a 140 yd game either and look like this is his 1st NFL game.

if Flacco gets us to a AFCCG or a SB and we lose is that a wasted season? i think that would be one of the greatest Jets seasons of my life. and i have been a fan since 1980 or so. i remember i was a fan before the mud bowl.

this reminds me of that guy from Popeye who wanted a hamburger today but wanted to pay you tomorrow. what if he got hit by a bus and died. i loss that money. but this is worst cause you want me to sacrifice another season and you cant promise me playoffs next year or the year after that. i might never get paid for that hamburger. lol

whats your long game? Zach plays well and we got our FQB. but if he sucks you draft another one in the 1st rd? and every win Flacco gets hurts out draft position?

    1. lol at the bolded

    2. so Flacco goes 9-8 you miss the playoffs, and you go into next year with the guy you spent a second overall pick on having not played for a year....and then what? you start him? or you have brining back Flacco as the starter?

i am sorry man, we live in different realities, either Zack is the guy or it isnt...nothing but that matters to sensible jets fans.
