  1. I think he would have been a different type of player, but I think as far as contribution to his team, this is a great comparison. I think if we had Alex Smith as our QB this year, we would legitimately be thinking we were among the best in the AFC.
  2. I still would like to hear what you expected from Sanchez in 2009 and 2010, and what you would have defined as a success from him coming off the 2010 season. I am not trying to be a pain, I just honestly would like to know. 2011 was a disaster, I think everyone can agree to that, and we probably disagree on where the blame goes for that, which is fine. But I honestly cannot comprehend how anyone could have hoped for much more from Sanchez in 09 or 10 considering what he was when he was drafted, so I'd love to hear some perspective. As far as I can recall, short of Rothlesberger, Luck and Wilson, in the past 15 years, no QB starting day one from the draft has had better results in their first two seasons than Sanchez had. And, Luck and Rothlesberger were probably far, far better prepared to start in the NFL than Sanchez was. Wilson probably was as well.
  3. You mean he missed passes in that game?? Oh crap, I change my stance, you are right, totally his fault, so glad he is gone. I am sorry for you however that your coach is gone, you love you some sexy rexy huh.....
  4. If Mac released him, he would instantly realize the error of his ways and pick him back up before any other team had a chance. We are talking about a guy who is pulling away from an injured Ryan Fitz in minicamp!
  5. Rex was the one who wanted Sanchez. Tanny's job was to get Rex the players he wanted, at least in the first few years. That was what he did for Mangini, and that was what he did for Rex.
  6. I agree but it was even worse what Rex did. He let the offensive line go to crap, took away his security blanket WR and gave him a$$ hole veterans to undermine him. Then, in 2011, he and Schitty put him in absolute horrible situations, time after time after time. If I owned the Jets, after the Baltimore game, I am not even kidding you I would not have allowed Rex or Schitty back in the locker room. They would have both been fired immediately, and that is not revisionist history, I was saying that in the 4th quarter of that game. As time has gone by, we would have been far better off had that happened.
  7. I have watched the Pittsburg game at least 5 times, and as far as I am concerned Sanchez was one of the better players on either side of the ball for the Jets that day. I assume you are referring to the sack/strip 6, which in my opinion after watching that play a million times, I would put him 4th on the blame list on that play, and I don't even think its totally fair to blame him for that play. The Jets as a team came out flat, Oline was not opening holes, the backs had no room to run, the WR's were getting thrown off their routes and not fighting, and the defense completely sh*t the bed. Sanchez brought them back from the dead in that game, and had the defense made one key stop he likely would have won that game for him. I was against drafting them where they did, I thought he was a late 1st rounder or early 2nd rounder with potential but the need to sit a year or two to mature. I expected him to suck balls in 09, which he did, and was shocked that he did not suck balls in the playoffs. Lets not forget he made a beautiful play late in the 2nd quarter in the AFCCG to give the Jets a 2 score lead, which the defense promptly gave up with horrible play calls, and horrible execution. In 2010 he was not good, but showed pretty good improvement in what should have been his first season as a starter, or 2nd season on the bench. He saved their ass on multiple occasions when the defense gave up a late score, and finished the year with respectable numbers, and had a good playoff run if not a very good playoff run. Sanchez came out too early, was handled horribly, and the biggest problem was that Rex, nor the fan base saw him for what he was, and projected him to be something he was not. 2011 offseason and the season itself was the absolute destruction of a QB who could have been decent. A decent QB in this league can win, there is one that shares the stadium with us with 2 rings. Again, I would love to know what you expected from a 1st or 2nd year QB, who came out early, was started way too early, and handled horribly from day 1, particularly in those first two years.
  8. I am curious to hear what you actually expected from Sanchez in year 1 or 2 if you were so disappointed in him after 2010? The guy had zero business starting in 2009, and 2010 should have been his first year playing. Despite that he performed reasonably well in the playoffs both years and was not the reason they lost in either of the elimination games they played in those two years. In 2010 he put up respectable numbers, and came up big in multiple games in which the defense blew a lead very late in the game. I find it interesting that you blame Sanchez for "blowing any serious/realistic chances at a winner" when he was not the HC or GM who wanted him, drafted him, or decided to start him in either of those two years. I also find it interesting that you don't hold Rex accountable for letting Sanchez prance around the locker room like an immature frat boy, instead of acting like a leader. I guess love is blind.
  9. The offseason before the 2011 season started the destruction of Sanchez, and this game completed it. He was never going to be an elite QB, but he could have been Eli Manning or better, which would be looking pretty damn good right now. Rex absolutely destroyed him, it was so obvious to anyone with eyes and a brain, which excludes many Jet fans.
  10. I can tell you I am not rooting against Geno at all, if he turns into a decent QB it would be great, best thing for the Jets. That said, I don't think he has it. I don't think he has the leadership skills, or the personality to be one of only say 15 guys on the planet who can be a good to great QB in the NFL. I think Geno has a lot of physical ability, and probably is a hard worker, but he has done enough things since his draft and time here that I seriously doubt he will ever be a good QB. I hope I am wrong, I have been wrong before, at one point I actually thought Rex was a good HC.
  11. Brakes? This train doesn't have any brakes! Our QB just pulled away from the competition in minicamp! Did you read that, MINICAMP!!! Get on board the train, its leaving the station and not waiting for anyone.
  12. This is fn awesome!!! I am so pumped, SB this year, I can feel it!
  13. Its going to take almost an entire roster turnover to remove the stench of Rex. Bowles and likely Mac are screwed, no matter what they do there is such a horrible culture that is instilled in the players who have been with Rex, that it will be almost impossible to succeed here. You see signs of it all over the place, Sheldon, Colon, etc. Its a shame, because there is some talent here, and I like what I have seen from Mac and Bowles, but they will end up failing because of the culture Rex brought in.
  14. Usually this time of year the defense is way ahead of the offense, so I expected this. Plus, offense is overrated in Jet land anyway, #allDefenseAllTheTime
  15. Mangini and Rex were both flawed HC's, in very different ways, but at the end of the day, neither was a good HC. Mangini probably has a better chance to develop into a good HC than Rex, would I would not bet on either one of them.
  16. Paying a guy like Wilson 20 mil per year is a double edge sword. You don't want to lose him, but he is in no way a type of QB who is going to carry a team by himself, he needs a lot of talent around him. His best asset is he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Take away a dominating defense and running game, and not making mistakes is not going to win games. You pay him 20 mil, and that forces you to lose a lot of the talent around him, and you are not a SB team any longer, he is just not THAT good.
  17. I honestly don't think Wilson is that great. He is a top 15 QB, but is not a top 10 IMO. He is not a QB that can carry a team by himself, and paying a QB like that Top 5 QB money is very dangerous.
  18. Here is a deal: TB 2nd round Pick 2015 TB 1st round pick 2016 Mike Glennon for Mo Wilk Get'er done Mac Daddy, get'er done!
  19. I desperately wanted to see an offensive player picked, and was praying Cooper dropped to us, but its really hard to be upset when you get a guy who is arguably the best overall talent in the draft, and it helps you create mismatches which are a big part of winning in this league.
  20. If Winston flubs, they are pretty much screwed as a regime anyway. They take Winston 1st overall they are all in on him, you don't survive him as a bust.
  21. ?? I think he looked very good last year given a crap offensive line. I liked him as a project coming out of college, I think he is the real deal right now, in terms of I think he can be a top 10-12 QB this year.
