  1. And what player that plays the same position and has the value Harris has had to the Jets team are you comparing this to? Said this in the David Harris thread... I think folks are seriously undervaluing Harris With the shift of the cap, how does anybody here know what the proper "value" of Harris or any player should be? None of you work in the NFL nor do you know what the value of players are. I won't claim to know either, maybe the Jets are paying a little more, but there is no question Harris was going to be well sought after in FA, and that in itself drove his value I think many are missing the key points - Harris was #1 MLB in FA - Harris has been a rock solid 3 down player for the last several years, he earned every bit of the last contract he signed - Harris is a leader on this team, players look up to him, and he's one of the most professional players who brings his lunch pail to work every day - Unquestioned character and integrity, Harris brings it, doesn't talk too much, but is a silent assassin Those knocking Harris because he doesn't have safety speed are missing the point and missing Harris' role, he's the QB on defense, could that have been replaced, yes, but at what cost? If we let Harris go, who is the guy that we bring in during FA? Harris didn't get a big money long term deal, it's a 3 year deal designed to transition the position to the guy who's going to replace him in the near future, but Harris is still a 3 down player who can be phased out. Harris isn't old yet either. Look at how long a player like Ray Lewis played, Harris has a similar stigma on this team, obviously not as flamboyant, but let's not undermine the value Harris has had. There is no doubt Rex wanted Harris in Buffalo. Another angle to think about are the players Bowles has had in Miami and Arizona Larry Foote was a central player on his defense the last two years, and he will be 35 this year Carlos Dansby was another middle LB on Bowles defense the year before last year and was in Miami with him as well, he will be 34 this year Pretty sure the Cardinal defense didn't suffer with these two players QB'ng Bowles defenses the last several years. This leads me to believe Bowles values a veteran player at the MLB position, and Harris just turned 31
  2. A complete butchering of Harris' ability and his value.
  3. Why even bother with a response like this? So do fans think the Jets are the only team in the league with money? FA is still a two-way deal. It's funny watching fans complain about the Jets giving up too much money in one thread on a player and then not offering enough on others...
  4. The Pats don't have any Lombardi trophies without compromising the integrity of the game.
  5. Ugh... Hell no to Fitzpatrick, would rather go after Mallet as a backup option to compete with Geno...

  7. +infinity It's a shame how ignorant parts of the fan base are
  8. You mean after the first tier and second tier waves had already passed? Revis didn't become a FA until after the first two weeks of the FA period, when most teams had already used their cap.
  9. Sure I did, and you didn't make this up either...
  10. I never said anything about rebuilding the 2012 Bills offense as our offense, never said "Stevie Johnson was 'the answer'" Now you're just spinning and twisting in the wind because you need the last word in an argument on the internet Get over yourself.
  11. Trading a 3rd for Glennon would be a mistake IMO. Glennon isn't that much better than Geno, why give up on Geno to try another prospect who hasn't shown that much more than Geno has, and who were both taken in the same draft? It's Mariotta or a trade for another QB, i.e. Foles or somebody of his caliber, I don't think Glennon is that player.

    David Harris

Acho, a FA from Arizona should be a strong consideration.
  13. When I pointed out his stats from his 2010 and 2012 years, as a #1 WR and then the fact he got injured in 2013, and then moved under a new regime and an offense that struggled. These were all facts, you disputing this? You want to compare SJ's numbers this past season with Kerley, which fits your little spin, because both were used in similar roles. SJ wasn't going to play ahead of Boldin and Crabtree, and when he did because the other players were injured, he put up big numbers. Nevermind that, the SF offense struggled all year, Kaep struggled all year. Kerely was a consistent option for the Jets because Decker missed a lot of time and still put up on #3 WR numbers because that is all he is, teams can take him out of a game plan, his strength is inside, SJ has a larger skill set because of his ability to play outside and because of his size. Notice how Kerley's numbers dropped when Harvin came in and started to become a bigger part of the offense, and Decker got healthy? Taking it a step further, Kerley was a target 75 times throughout the year, and played in 3 more games, and was a more consistent option with the Jets with lesser players ahead of him until Decker was healthy and Harvin was traded for. SJ was a target 75 times played 3 less games and still put up slightly better stats with players playing consistently ahead of him. I can do this all day... Again, I don't agree with you, you don't agree with that, let's leave it at that. Enough of your grandiose machoism.
  14. I read just fine I did present facts You just don't like them or agree with them, which is fine, but your pissing contest is boring me.
  15. So if Cobb lands a deal over 10 million a year, Harvin suddenly becomes a bargain with no guaranteed money...

Reed is not an inside player, I don't think that is something a player can just slide to at the NFL level. I like the other options though.
  17. So because I don't agree with your assertion that they are equal players, I'm a dope? Interesting tactic. The bold again, doesn't make sense. Two different players, different roles with their respective teams, very different skillsets, and you're wrong, a player's skill does make them better. It happens in all sports, there are players that are very talented, and not so much. SJ's talent and ability is better than Kerley's.
  18. However you want to spin it, the facts are Johnson is a better WR than Kerley, the two have completely different skill sets, this is fact, this is what I'm arguing, and there are no flaws with that!
  19. Everybody is fixed on the 10 million With the amount of cap space we have, if Mac can still be creative, and still get some bargains during the early part of FA, there is no rush to release Harvin until the point that they have to, in order to avoid giving up the 4th. We should work the FA market with both aggression and smarts, and if the Jets can make a coup in the first 10 days, and we can still keep Harvin, or Harvin remains a fit based on the players we would have signed in the first 9 days until the Mar 19th decision date, and we can still fit his cap number into this coming season, we are back to the same place again next year, and next year's strategy will be based on his performance this year, he has a good season, we re-visit a restructure, if not, we let him go without a cap hit. The current deal he is on also has positives for the Jets, as the cap continues to balloon the next couple of years, there is not as much risk keeping him this coming season if FA plays out in a way that either we need to address WR, and lose out on other options in Cobb, Maclin, and Smith.
  20. If we can land Cobb at the contract the Jets were hoping to restructure Harvin with, ok... I would even extend the same for Torrey Smith or Maclin Otherwise, there is really no reason we should be hurrying to waive Harvin without a replacement.
  21. Fasano would be "ok" What about Jermaine Gresham? Would rather have Virgil Green or Lee Smith in FA
  22. So can I. What exactly am I not aware of and arguing against the facts? No reason to get all full of yourself, I understand some of what you're saying, and wasn't looking to get in the middle of your pissing match, but I disagree with your take on Kerley vs Johnson.
  23. I made my own argument based on something you said, you also said I was wrong, and I wasn't, I don't care about that "other dope's" (your words) comment So, do we do this all day, or do you need the last word?
