We need a Jets fans in Austin group. Maybe meet up to watch a game or two? Road trip for Jets/Houston game? Or just moral support and local tips. Anything in person after we are out of Stage 5 recommendations, of course.

I live in Austin, it is NOT a destination for an NFL franchise.

I live in Austin now too, I think it could work, especially a stadium south of the River which would only be 75-90 min from the San Antonio area and tap into that market too.  There’s 2.2 million in the Austin metro and growing versus 1.8 mil and shrinking in Buffalo. (They definitely shouldn’t build a stadium in downtown Austin which is becoming a sh*thole I avoid at all costs.)

Most importantly, Austin has a growing roster of cash rich tech companies and some private equity too.  There’s good potential for suite sales which is really what drives all this.

Jerry Jones would probably do everything he could to prevent it.  This is mostly Cowboys country.  That’s probably the biggest hurdle to Austin eventually getting a franchise.  The people here love football (sure we have our fair share of soccer loving hippies too but this is Texas).  Austin has this hippie reputation but the truth is it’s become a big money town.

The guy played one season (2019) that was 2 years ago. He played in a grand total of 2 other games outside of that season. His biggest win was against James Madison, where he completed 6 of 10 pass attempts. His stadium seated fewer than my son’s high school stadium here in Texas. Yet no worries from the ESPN pundits about him. He was a clear win at pick 3 overall.

Wilson, however, is such the risky pick! How can he go from Utah to the NFL (Nevermind that another BYU QB just signed a $120mm contract with the Saints)?!

Despite playing 3 nearly full seasons in front of 65k fans every week, and every game being televised via ESPN due to their contract with BYU. Despite beating USC and Tennessee and Boise State and Houston on the road. And murdering UCF, SDSU, Navy, Utah State, etc. All teams that would’ve stomped little NDSU. I’m not saying Lance can’t be good or even great, but how confident would you feel in the 2021 season if JD drafted Lance?

For the media it’s all about Fields and Lance, Lance and Fields.

If you haven't realized, frachise-based bias is rampant among the "analysts."  Kyle Shanahan can do no wrong and the Jets are always wrong.  If the Jets want to reverse the narrative they need to play well.

Blame the Jets fans who begged, just begged the Jets to change to an updated version of our 1990's uniforms right down to the green helmets and black accents around the numbers.  They drowned Twitter and Instagram non-stop with renderings that aren't that different than what Nike actually executed.

They're the ones who did this.

The new helmet is an abomination.  I blame the Jets brass who picked it.

He brought it up because WFAN’s social media department told him it would get maximum clicks and go viral.  They had the cartoon artwork ready to go and put the video up to YouTube in record time.

The Jets must be appalled and there will be consequences.

Carton told them, not the other way around.  That clown has carte Blanche there because ratings.

  6. Mark Chernoff should honestly be fired for his inability to develop talent at WFAN that can fill the midday and afternoon drive.  That he felt he had to put Carton the Clown there for ratings is sad.  Carton doesn’t even like talking sports, it’s this played out Howard Stern routine, it should be on mornings if anything.

  7. Sherman, Nelson, Poole....2 of those 3 guys should be here.
    Maybe KJ Wright at LB.

    They can cut Alex Lewis.

What to do with Crowder will be interesting.  Personally I am a fan of retaining good football players and with WRs there’s always an injury so we need the depth.  But he comes with a sizable cap hit and it could be used elsewhere or deferred to retain all these draft picks.

Trent Williams is the best LT in the game if not top 5 and you're talking about moving him to RT? Move Becton.

I get it, but do you really want to move Becton too?  Becton is much younger and can be the long-term solution at LT, why stunt his development.

  9. It's not the worst idea, because Fant can be cut for just $2 million in dead money and $7.85 million in cap savings.  So in a sense it partially pays for itself because if you sign Williams you can cut Fant.

However, the main roadblock may be that Williams is a competitive guy and may WANT to go somewhere where he can play LT, not RT which is a less important position.  And I'd be hesitant to take Becton away from LT at this point in his development too.

If he's willing to play RT I'm down.
