  1. Before you jump all over me, I've moved on from Sam mentally also.  I don't WANT to bring him back.

But with this o-line?  They'll just ruin Zach Wilson too.  Why bother?

After whiffing today, there are so many damn holes to fill that they might be best off trading down from #2 to get as many picks as possible.

Still not the most likely outcome in my opinion, and I want Wilson personally, but this argument does look better than it did yesterday.

I admittedly don’t watch much college football so my exposure to and opinions of college players is limited - I did however see Ohio State v Clemson and Fields looked awesome - in the Championship game he looked mediocre at best - can the naysayers help me understand why he’s a bad choice at 2 if we keep the pick and jettison Darnold?

My take is that Fields had ALL DAY to throw at Ohio State.  He'll have half the amount of time with the Jets.  People are skeptical he'll be able to make those throws with so little time.

  3. I don't see why this is such a touchy subject.  Sam should know he played like a bottom 5 starting QB last year, even after adjusting for the horrible coaching and roster.  It's not a secret we need to beat around.  The guy hasn't played well enough to earn untouchable status.

Sam needs to take his lumps like a man, start over fresh somewhere else where he can reset his internal clock, and do better at his next opportunity.  He'll never be able to see the field well as a Jet given what he's been through.

How so ?  Fields is the better athlete, has proven he can take a hit and has shown he can run effectively when needed to pick up yardage .

What trait does Wilson have that makes him better against an "NFL" rush because lord knows he barely saw one while at BYU.

Better internal clock and sense of rush coming from blind areas.  Wilson has good short area quickness too and can scramble.  He's got some Kyler Murray to his game.

I'm surprised by that. I really think Fields has what it takes. Wilson is also a great prospect, but I would take Fields at #2.

Teams are terrified that Fields was a beneficiary of a very good o-line that allowed him all day to hold the ball and throw it.

On the Jets he'd get half the amount of time before the pass rush got there.  Wouldn't work IMO.

I'd take Wilson over Fields, and I'd use the #2 overall pick on Wilson.

We didn't have the ball.  The first time Mark Sanchez touched the ball in the game, there were only 5 minutes left in the first quarter.  The Steelers went up and down the field on our defense, they ended the game with 10 minutes more in time of possession.

    SAR I

He could've solved all that by taking advantage of the chances he had, instead he fumbled and gave up a TD.  Stop making excuses for Sanchez.

Let's not discuss 2011 and forward.  Let's leave that aside for a moment.

If Rex Ryan's defense played like he advertised it would in back-to-back AFC Championship Games, Mark Sanchez would have won us a Super Bowl.

Mark's postseasons were terrific.  Mark elevated his game in the playoffs.  Rex's defense, especially in both AFC Championship Games, was mediocre.  They didn't elevate their game.  They eroded.

And that's the irony here.  Or tragedy, if you like.  This forum nonsense that "a better quarterback would have won because the Defense carried Sanchez" is actually not true in the postseasons of 2009 and 2010.  Mark played better than the Defense did.  Mark took his game up, the Defense took a vacation.  It's not about Rex ruining Mark for 2012 and beyond; it's about Rex's failed defense costing Mark Sanchez and the fans a ring.

    SAR I

Mark should have shown up for the first half of the 2010 AFCCG.  He didn’t.
