  1. My 1a are the Redskins (that's right, I still call them the Redskins - at least when I'm reminiscing ) which makes me a big friggin' two time loser!! Follow them from afar now, but still feel their pain. Loved the early 80's Redskins teams with Theismann / Riggins/ Monk / Brown,
  2. Did anyone else imagine the clown car circus music playing in the background when reading the original tweet? Giving up draft capital for Flacco is proof positive that Joe Douglas is a terrible GM. What a joke! This is definitely a panic move for a GM who is finally on the hot seat. Lets win a few games to mask the terrible job he's done. What can go wrong?
  3. This is the most frustrated I've ever been as a fan of this team, which began in the mid 70's. I didn't expect a playoff team this year, but I did expect to watch a competitive team and see some growth from our young players and a coming together of the latest rebuild vision. There is none of that going on here so far this season, and quite frankly, not much if any at all during the entire Joe Douglas era. We all suffer from battered wife syndrome. We make excuses time after time for our coaches, our players, and the front office for every misstep and blunder they make. We try to extract the smallest of positives from a consistently replenished pile of negatives, fooling ourselves into false hope. After a few years, we finally turn on the most recent failed rebuild, and scream from the rooftops to start over. The GM, the coaches, and players are then reshuffled, and then we start the cycle over of making excuses for the next batch. When the hell are the Jets going to get the rebuild right???? This team is currently an abomination from top to bottom. There is literally no silver lining here. Nothing to root for. We see teams year after year that change their front office, change their HC, and change their QB, and more times than not, teams seem to get al least one if not more of these changes and decisions right, and manage to shift their franchise to be pointing in the right direction and give a little hope to their fanbase. This Jets team has been stuck in the mud for the last 10+ years with no escape currently in sight. Joe Douglas has NOT been a good GM. Saleh has been a TERRIBLE coach. Mike Lafleur is an ABOMINABLE OC, and Zack Wilson has been a TERRIBLE QB, and the shortcomings of each contributes to the other being even more terrible than they should be! How many times can the Jets shuffle these 4 positions and get every single one wrong??????? ITS BEEN OVER 10 FRIGGIN YEARS!!!!! I want to pull my f'n hair out!!!!! How much time and emotion can we keep investing in a team where there is NEVER any kind of payoff??????
  4. I think the NFL has become very watered down product and nothing like the football I grew up with in the late 70's and 80's. I've given a lot of thought as to why I feel that way, and the easy surface level answer is that I'm older now, more cynical in general based on life experience, and it's ME who has changed and not football. But then of course I realize that it's not ME, it IS the NFL that has changed. It's BIG business now, and it's run that way, kowtowing to political influences, the massive gambling industry, and their TV and broadcast partners. They've altered the rules to protect the biggest investments - the QB's, and have removed much of the hard hitting and intensity from the game to the point where it feels like you're not even watching tackle football sometimes. You can't breathe on the QB or the WR's without seeing a flag, and the holding calls and other ticky tack penalties are so random and inconsistent and way too often, decide games. This definitely is NOT your daddy's NFL.
  5. This is pretty spot on and at least for me, it highlights the fact that after 2 drafts and 3+ seasons under Joe Douglas, we are truly no further along in our latest "rebuild" than the day he started. The names in the front office change every few years and so do the HC's and players on the field, but the end result is the Jets forever spinning their wheels, going absolutely nowhere. When the hell is this ever going to end????
  6. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
  7. Teams don't let their WR1 walk, especially not their WR1 drafted in the top 5, for no reason......except if he's not really a #1, of course. it's painfully obvious after 3 games that Davis is not a high motor or maximum effort player and his hands are suspect. Quite frankly, his drops are alarming. If your shiny new blue chip rookie QB can't rely on his WR1, he's in big trouble. This another failure in progress that falls at the feet of our esteemed GM.
  8. I feel like there has been a glitch in the matrix as this feels EXACTLY like it did 3 years ago after a few games with Darnold at the helm. After a shaky start, we were all saying that Darnold has star potential but he's been restricted by the talent around, him and the failures of the front office. We went on to say that he's shown "flashes" and that we were confident that he would turn it around as the season progresses. If this isn't a case of history literally repeating itself, I don't know what is. Joe Douglas has failed this team and he should officially be on the hot seat.
  9. Seriously folks, this is friggin exhausting. We have been stuck in in the bad GM, bad HC, bad OC, DC wrong players cycle for DECADES! Every few years we change the names on and off the field, but the results are the same - TERRIBLE. The common denominator over the last 20 years hase been the Johnsons. This team will never win as long as they're in control. At this point, we would all be happy with just being competitive and not the laughing stock of the league.. This team has not been competitive for THREE ******* YEARS!!! THREE!!!!! Again, this is exhausting.
  10. I just don't understand those who are still saying that "we need to give JD more time, blah blah blah. WHY?????? This is HIS team, from top to bottom. He's completely shaped it to his vision over the last 3 years. He's drafted poorly and his FA signings and strategy has been AWFUL! It's literally professional negligence what he did to Darnold and he's clearly learned NOTHING from it as Zack Wilson is surrounded by a bunch of BUMS and is set up for failure as a result in 2021 and beyond. The stink coming from Met Life Stadium is all over him.
  11. Completely agree. The blueprint of a proper rebuild was finally executed correctly and right people were seemingly put in place to see it through, but inexplicably, the end result is the same hot pile of steaming garbage that we've been staring at for decades. I am so disgusted and disheartened that I feel like I don't want to invest the energy to care anymore. I was visiting my son at Penn State this weekend and even though the game was a layup, I had an amazing time watching PSU demolish Villanova, and I was wondering to myself as I'm looking around the stadium filled with 105,000 screaming, happy, and invested fans, when was the last time I felt as good about the Jets as I did about PSU at that moment???? When the **** is the payoff with the Jets after investing so much time and energy on them???? Don't we the fans, especially the long suffering ones, deserve a goddamn payoff just once in a while????? At what point to we just finally give up and walk away from this never ending mess?? Honestly, I'm just about there. I've given the Jets way more than they've given me. How much longer should we all continue to be disappointed?
  12. In 45+ years of disappointment in this team, I cannot recall I time that I've been more disappointed than right now. This team is an unmitigated disaster. There is no shining light ANYWHERE or a glimmer of hope. The roster, after THREE F'N years of JD's rebuild, is no better off than it was 3 years ago and the team is committing the same exact blunders that got Darnold killed and run out of town - NO ******* TALENT SURROUNDING THE QB. The WR's are invisible, the running game is garbage, and the gamreplanning has been atrocious. Wilson has ZERO chance to succeed on this 2021 team. It's amazing that no matter who the GM or HC is, this team just cannot get out of it's own way. Poor drafting, signing the wrong FA's and not creating a system to put whoever is on the roster in the best position to succeed . EVRY ******* YEAR ITS THE SAME!!!! ENOUGH OF THIS GARBAGE ALREADY!!!!!!!
  13. Wilson looks good and throws for 3 TD's in a Jets win. Book it. Can't wait to see the incredible reversal of opinion by some of you and the verbal fellatio you'll be giving Wilson after a bounce back game. Conclusion - Some of you need to chiiiiiiiiiiiiiil. 2 games does not a career make. Jesus.
  14. There is obviously something going on behind the scenes because this seems completely absurd on the surface no matter how Saleh tries to frame it. You cannot give up on a 2nd round pick after one incomplete season under one of the worst HC's of all time. Unless he's so dumb that he literally doesn't know left from right or he's so disruptive at practice and in the building that he's taking dumps on the table in the WR daily, you have to give him a chance over the bums being paraded out there in front of him. Complete insanity.
  15. So sorry to hear this. Condolences to his family.
  16. I'm just glad he didn't tear his MCL. That would have been a disaster. Happy he'll be back later this season. Usually the Jets get the worst possible news no matter what the circumstances or issues are, so maybe we really are turning the corner. Silver linings, people.
  17. Lawrence had some flashy stats but got most of them in garbage time as the Jags were losing big, especially late. His 3 INT's were not good. Wilson and Jones both had decent games and kept their teams in the game. They both win the rookie debut contest this year imo.
  18. Despite an OL that had him running for his life all game, I think Wilson really came on in the 2nd half and showed off his skills as a playmaker outside the pocket and how legit his arm strength is. I think we are going to enjoy watching him develop all season.
  19. The OL has some capable players but they were terrible and will get Wilson killed if they don't dial it in and start to gel as a unit, but I do have confidence in this coaching staff to do what it takes to get them playing at their best. We knew this was going to be a long season and we knew there would be some growing pains along the way. This is just that. As long as we see improvement across the board from every unit as the season progresses, we will all be able to rest a little easier. Have some faith, people. It's a much better approach than jumping off of rooftops after one game.
  20. Very excited to see how our QB and the rest of this young team develops this season under our new HC and coaching staff. I know many of us sound like homers and broken records when we say "THIS time I really think they've turned the corner," but....... THIS time I really think it's TRUE!!!! Let's start this season off right by grabbing that W tomorrow!
  21. Hang in there and get well soon @joewiliy12!
  22. Wishing you good luck and a speedy recovery.
  23. I root for the laundry. Darnold is in my rear view mirror, and I will be going out of my way to root hard against him in week 1. Beyond that, I don't care. In fact, I would rather he play exactly as he has the last 3 years which will prove the Jets right to move on from him.
  24. Is it "all gas, no brakes" or all gas, no break?" Just want to make sure I buy the right t-shirt.
