BOB bungled it and it’s reported the friction was because Bill was very vocally outspoken against Hopkins having kids without being married.
Man, he must despise Antonio Cromartie.

Low key waiting for someone to come into this thread saying, "why isn't our 2-time AFC Champion runner up QB not on this list?????"

Since his rookie season Deshaun Watson has only missed one game.
Just about anyone playing in the NFL is at risk for a sudden major injury.
Methinks you just want to invent reasons not to like him.

Key word there.
There is no "possibly" with Deshaun Watson. He is high end talent.

I don't remember the specific numbers, but their defense in 2020 was a problem. While their offensive points actually increased from 2019 to 2020, their defensive points allowed also increased by a larger margin.

But the Jets would not only be taking Watson's contract off of the Texans hands, but will be giving them a cheap rookie contract of a player many deem comparable.
Yeah, that's the thing about elite franchise QBs, they demand a lot of money because they're worth it.
And until Fields or Wilson or whoever can prove that they can throw for 4800 yds, 33 TDs, at 70% comp to only 7 INTs in the NFL, they are NOT comparable to Deshaun Watson.

10 hours ago, Bronx said:There’s a real possibility that the New England Patriots could be the worst team in the AFC East come 2021. We wish we were exaggerating, but the latest Deshaun Watson rumors are really making it look like more and more of a reality.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that there’s a growing feeling in Houston’s front office that Watson has played his last snap for the Texans. While there are plenty of teams out there that could trade for the former first-round pick, Schefter went ahead and made us realize that there’s no better destination right now than the New York Jets.
You’ve gotta be kidding, right? No matter who quarterbacks the Patriots in 2021, if Deshaun Watson is under center for the Jets, regardless of who else is on New York’s roster, they’d almost automatically be better than New England. And that’s really sad to think about.
Once upon a time, we thought the Patriots could be a landing spot for Watson, especially after the Texans hired Nick Caserio as their new general manager. But now that the situation has boiled over to the point where Watson is clearly done in Houston, the market competition will be through the roof.
And given the Jets’ positioning — they have the No. 2 pick and multiple first-rounders in 2021 and 2022 — they could easily get this done and then chase big ticket free agents with their plentiful cap space. Throw in Sam Darnold to give the Texans a quarterback to work with in the meantime, and perhaps that’s even more enticing to Caserio and Co.
What can the Patriots offer? Worse draft picks. Less talent. Any tradable pieces on New England’s roster (like Stephon Gilmore or N’Keal Harry) won’t be of any help for a Texans team looking to tear down and maximize long-term value for Watson.
It was entertaining for all of us to picture the Patriots trading for Watson, but it’s becoming less likely as the days go by, and now there’s a greater likelihood the Jets land him and surpass the Patriots in the AFC East in 2021.

If 3 firsts in 3 years is a "lifetime of picks" than 2 first in 3 years (which is what we'd still have) is still quite a fulfilling life's amount.
One of those 3 firsts is likely going to end up being a QB anyway, so that just leaves us down 2 players. What are the chances we hit home runs on those two players? Deshaun Watson is a grand fricking slam!
This league is QB QB QB... and that's Deshaun Watson.
Deshaun Watson is also young, at 25.

Don't worry, once the rest of the team is ready and in place, we'll just pluck ourselves a nice, shiny new QB from the Franchise QB Tree!
It's that easy!

What is a ton of picks to you?
One "proposal" going around is 3 1sts (2021, 2022, 2023). That would still leave us with 2 1st round picks in the next 3 years. Add to that whatever we can recoup from trading Darnold. Far from mortgaging the future.

That said, I'd love to have Watson if his asking price were a 2nd, preferably 3rd round draft choice. Anything more than that and I'm perfectly happy to go to into camp with Sammy and another young buck QB JD drafted fighting it out in a QB competition.

Browns, Bucs, Bills, Redskins, Dolphins and yes, I could go on etc.. teams that 5 years ago we laughed at have passed us no problem. Up and don their rosters are better. Why?? The Johnsons.
His agent will make sure he signs a BIG contract because chances are , he'll die on the vine here too.
Well, the Johnsons hired one of the coaches that Deshaun wanted the Texans to interview, but refused to do so (because Easterby probably) so I think that automatically puts us over them in Watson's book, in terms of functionality.
