  1. I think the first thing is to accept that the odd/late timing meant that JD really didn't get the chance to put his mark on the team the first year - the start of FA had started and the draft was done and the coach was already here. So, everyone likes to quote 11-30, but really he is 4-21 - so that is both worse (fewer wins and winning percentage), but really it has been 1 1/2 seasons. It is also weird that JD was brought in by Gase and then JD had Gase fired. They were never on the same page. I find it optimistic that JD's drafts seem to be shaping up to be better; I like that he prioritized O over D; and I like the rebuild concept - I have to tell you that even being a person who thinks JDs drafts are okay (better this year) and being someone who liked the Saleh hiring and having him report to JD - I am pretty unhappy with how bad the team has looked. We won a couple - were in a couple, but got blown out for the rest
  2. yes, I meant before JD; not trying to start a JD topic, but he focused mostly on offense and CBs - but either way, we are mostly bereft with talent on the D side - replace JD, keep JD, there is a lot of drafting and FA work to do in the offseason.
  3. I would settle for the team being competitive in 4 of them.
  4. While I agree with the concept of players over scheme the problem is that we don't have the players for any scheme. All that drafting of D over O and we still have limited players. Our D-line is okay and we have some decent young CBs, but we are hurting at LB (mostly outside) and at Safety. And we have no quality depth especially at ILB and pass rush. Not sure what scheme this D can really play. JD focused on QB, OL, WR and CB in draft and some FAs; there is some depth in places, but he is going to have to invest both draft capital and FAs in D this off-season. As a chef you can change your menu based on your food, but you can't run a restaurant on PB&J and moldy bread
  5. Its both and more; it is truly a team sport. The win had people talking that Mike was the new QB of the future. Its the play calling, and the running game and WRs and the OLine and the defense you are playing and their coaching.
  6. At this point, I would rather have the draft pick position, but I cannot help but root for and hope for the wins. I had predicted 3-4 wins at one point - I think we end up there - but Miami is starting to look better. Not sure we win either or both.
  7. This! The Jets haven't had depth for as long as i can remember. Mike T would trade away picks for Vets which worked for a while, but they young depth guys weren't brought on. I think that is why we lost Westhoff - he didn't get any depth players to use for his unit. Then we had bad drafting by Idzik and Mac. We have no depth. This is why even 5th and 6th round picks are important; you must have a constant influx of young players. Because you are drafting them in the later rounds, you need enough picks to get a few keepers as they are harder to hit in the later rounds. This is also why a pick that doesn't start or play for a year or two isn't a problem if picked on day 3 - they are depth - you hope you don't need them. Sadly, it will take another year or two until we have depth everywhere. We have depth at WR and TE (although they all suck - so maybe that doesn't count). We are starting to get depth at OL and CB.
  8. of course, the defense is quite good today.
  9. When you are as bad as the Jets, every pick is. valuable. Either for a role/depth player or in order to trade up.
  10. While I may agree with some of your thoughts, how does anything you just wrote explain why JD traded a valuable pick for Flacco?
  11. Okay, i get this team is bad. Except for some minor tweaks here and there GMs do not do much during the season. If you are a player or two away from greatness, then maybe, but we are not that. So, after every loss, maybe we talk about firing the coaches and save complaining about the GM until black Friday?
  12. Yeah, probably not, it would be nice to have another Revis Island - the play not the drama of course
  13. yeah,Robby looks good with Cam, but as we proved with Mike White and Cincy, the first game of a new QB can make a huge difference. In all likelihood, Cam will be Cam soon enough.
  14. It really depends on where our pick lands, but I could see going Center with the Seattle pick - then either edge/LB, WR, or CB with our pick. Unless we have a great run, I would expect that we could trade down a bunch of spots and still get either of those with our pick. If Seattle pick is in the top 15, may even be able to trade that down a bit and get a center. If that all works out, i can see using our 2nd rounder on a RG (maybe trade up to 1st). A top pick, center, RB, and something decent with the Carolina pick in 2nd would be a great way to start the draft...
  15. yeah, they can't send him back without him going through waivers - forgot about that...
  16. its the long game; raiders are crumbling - we knew the Jets were going to suck this year - but the raiders were supposed to be good and they are destructing before our eyes.
  17. We could be the Raiders and have one player drive hight and kill someone, have a coach quit because of racist emails and or have a CB videoing himself with a firearm. There are a few bright spots, but this team is bad; i am hoping they are getting better, but still better than a few teams in league - still hard - we deserve better ...
  18. Mike would be that good with the O-Line, running game and Defense; there is little pressure on him - The first two scores were 90% running; and then an INT with great field position. Not dissing Mac = but this is a full team sport - Mac goes into a team running the same offense and defense for 20 years; quality coaching that doesn't have to learn on the fly; Mac is a rookie, but he is surrounded by vets and other players that have been playing in that system for years.
  19. I trust that was real and not a short joke - he has been really good so far - He constantly is dragging people forward...
  20. not getting the game, but the way i understand it the logic goes as follows: Saleh and the team suck; after one win Mike White is the future and we should trade Zack; Mike is playing well and goes out hurt. We loose; this week we are going to win with Mike. Now after an INT, Mike sucks again and we should trade him? Did I get that correct? If Mike drives down and scores a TD, are we keeping him?
  21. except if Flacco doesn't play it is a 6th, if he plays enough it's a 5th. I guess it is a moot point - if Mike stays healthy this week and Zack comes back next week, Flacco won't sniff the field... Regardless of order, Mike and Zack are #1 and #2 - we need to see what Mike and Zack really have - regardless of #1 or #2, unless Mike implodes - you have to sign him next year - with a first or second round tender.
  22. so Flacco is our #2? I thought JJ showed enough to be #2...
  23. Mike had a great game. But it was one game. The offense was on fire, and Mike ran it well, but after he went down JJ played well too. We were still in the game (sort of) until that late 4th quarter int. The question is whether Mike beat Cincy or the Jets beat Cincy? It appears that while Mike ran it the best so far, the offense started to click. The play calling was better, and the o-line has looked better too. Is Mike the future of the team and the future SB winner? I doubt it, but I would be so happy to be wrong. Either way, go Jets.
  24. I agree - the hate this kid gets is unreasonable. He didn't drive drunk and kill someone, he doesn't even have a bad attitude. He is, like many WRs coming into this league, struggling. If the Jets are dumb enough to cut him, someone will pick him up. Worse, people are hating on this 24 year old simply because they don't like JD and JD drafted him. It is like all of the jokes about Carter being too short (calling him names) - we don't hear them now because it doesn't support the narrative of JD sucking.
