The weather is certainly in the Pats favor as the BIlls have a weak running game and struggle to stop the run. If the weather slows down the Bills offense and makes them run more so the Pats don't have to pass to keep up with Buffalo's scoring then it's a rough day for the Bills.

Yeah; what is that? what is the point of home field advantage if it doesn't give you an advantage? You would think playing in Buffalo they would build a quality run game and run defense.

Hahaha taxpayers always foot the bill

That was then, this is now. When is the last time taxpayers built a stadium especially for a team that isn't relocating. Taxpayers will give them some land and build some infrastructure, but that is it. Lately the owners have been paying and getting a sweetheart deal loan from the NFL.

  3. I think Flores got a raw deal and should have gotten another year, but let's not make him out to be the next great coach. He had the Patriots number, more than we have for sure. He beat the Jets twice - WOW. He Beat the Texans, Giants -so 4 of his wins against 4-win teams. He beat the Panthers 5-win team. Yes, he beat the Saints and Ravens, but also lost to the Jags.

nooooooooooooooo. he made us look good

Not really - Same record - although a QB sneak with 7 (or 9) to go in victory formation was pretty dumb.

They are a clown organization - fortunately we are no longer one, so we don't need them to be... I think we are going in the right direction - they have some real clean up to do especially with their cap - IMO

  5. I think he had more poise (except maybe bills) and more comfort with the O. While he has been limited all year with a lack of Weapons not having Moore really hurt. Then he lost Berrios. Then after not having him for several games he lost Crowder. This could be why his numbers are off. For the Bills game we were running bottom of the barrel on most of the OL - I am glad he survived that attack. I hope he continues to improve.

I feel he grew more and answered a lot more questions than Darnold did his first year, but that could be wishful thinking as I have blocked those years out of my memory. Obviously, he has a much stronger arm. Hopefully, JD got it right and the CS has handled his rookie year correctly - getting a QB is one of the biggest hurdles.

Hopefully he will be even more comfort with the O and have more Poise. Fixing the OL - getting back injured players, draft, FA and adding Targets, getting back Moore, FA/signing Berrios, Draft should help him a lot.

Now to fix the D - that may take much more work :-).

Douglas is already trying to correct things that he did upfront. You dont get do-overs from initial ****ups. The timeline remains the same. Hopefully he's sured up how to interview prospects and can figure out if they're motivated football players or guys who'd rather spend time towel whipping each other in the trainers room. Excuse time is over. 0-6 in the division is over. Seasons being over in October is over. It's time to win.

    Woody is that you? LOL

In all seriousness, I get that feeling. I hate loosing. Fans want to win, players want to win and the FO wants to win. Wanting it and expecting it are two different things. I don't know what ***ups you are referring to, my guess it is the 2020 draft. While I don't want to get into is it 2 1/2 years, 3 years, whatever - the point is that after last season, there was an agreement to hit the Reset button. It doesn't matter who was here before that and for how long. This year was year 1 of the reset. Like it, don't like it, agree with it or not. Next year is year 2. Expectations are much higher than this year, but I would expect 8-9 wins. That's that expectation. We may overachieve or underachieve (hoping for over).

But, yes, he won't get a year 3 if next year is a mess; he isn't going to get a pass because he picked wrong and signed wrong. If ZW isn't the guy and we aren't in the playoffs by the 2023 season I doubt he gets a pass, but IMO the clock was reset last season, this is the end of year 1.

In my mind, the Jets have been rebuilding for 10+ years, but in reality there have been many more loosing and embarrassing seasons than good ones over the past 50+ years for me. So, yeah, winning some games would be nice. And I hope to never be playing for draft spot again ...

Playtime is over. They have picks and money. Two draft classes under their belts. Time to win some games.

Sure. But I have been building systems for 30+ years and I can tell you it takes longer to build a product by trying to shortcut than you do by doing it right up front. It is normally the pushing for faster sales that normally does a small company in. We have tried to patch and win for a while; FA and trades to build a team; this was a 3 year plan when Saleh was hired and JD was given the chance to reset - that has happened, trying to force a team to the playoffs in year 2 would be a mistake.

Now, if JD has another good draft and has a good FA and Saleh and staff come along, our injured players return, and Zack progresses - yeah, we could go to playoffs next year - I would be happy about that, but I doubt JD and Saleh will have those expectations thrust upon them by Woody.

  8. I think you need to have realistic expectations about a team you build - especially in a full reset. You want them to build it correctly for the long run. I would expect that the expectation is for a big jump in wins - maybe double or better like they did this year 8 or 9 wins will likely do. The following year the expectation should be playoffs.

Now it doesn't mean they meet the expectations, but depending on how close they come, how good the team looks, and what kind of bad luck they had determines year 4 - IMO.

I'm saying it's embarrassing that we're calling out the "hapless Giants" over something like this.

Earlier they showed the Giants and Jets were tied for the worst record in the NFL over the past 5 years at 22-58 each.   The Giants lost today so they're now worse at 22-59 though we'll likely catch them in a couple of hours.  If we do manage to win today, though, I'm sure some people on here will brag that we're 23-28 while they're only 22-59.

Sorry it is still funny - this never happens; but if every time a team does something stupid, we can make fun of them because we suck - well that would truly suck for us. After all of the these years of sucking, Jet fans have someone else to laugh at. If it was us, not only would this board explode, but the media and the Giants would be crapping on us. I don't care about 5 years ago and another GM/Coach - I care about now. you can have the last word - this is no longer fun...

In the end, you are what your record says you are.  How much are we really counting on cap space helping us out next year?

This was a funny thread about the hapless Giants, not so sure how you don't get that and you appear to be all worked up. Does every thread have to be about the Jets sucking?

I expect 15 million to go to rookies unless we trade around; I would expect a chuck will be resigning vets. I would hope for a WR, Safety, LB, and. maybe an Edge. But again, this was about the Giants spending above the cap. Imagine if the Jets had done that - wow how the fans would be calling us a laughing stock. Unless you are a Giants fan, I can see how you don't find it funny.

Pretty sure the cap is going up next year so the Giants will probably have some room to sign their picks.  And I assume they'll have guys coming off the cap as well.

So, they will have a small amount of cap, so what? You are missing the point, the team spent big on expectations that didn't happen. Had it happen, they would have been screwed if they ran out of cap by the end of the year. Spend big and loose = funny; spend so much you can't have 53 player = funny.

Ultimately both teams stunk this year.  And great teams aren't built in free agency.

Agreed, but when you spend in FA it is normally to mount a big season and you only have a few holes to fill; the Jets didn't spend big, knowing it was a rebuilding year - Jets met expectations and have a ton of cap for next year; the Giants fell short of expectations and do not - they also need a certain amount of cap to sign draft picks (they have 2 firsts as well).

Well as bad as the Steelers are if they pull this game out they will be playoff bound.

    Crazy, huh?

I really meant in the game - clearly there are worse teams, but they don't look like a playoff team...

The dumbasses are going to force judge on the new GM and after a totally wasted year they will fire him next year.

It is all part of the plan. The are following the Jets playbook - Idzik and Rex :-)

We can only hope that it goes as well for them ...
