    1) The top 2 vote getters for offensive rookie of the year will be Deshaun Watson and Dalvin Cook. We could have had both on our roster.

    2) Jamal Adams will be the QB of our defense from the jump and a nice consolation from missing on Watson. And yes I realize this is far from a thin limb I'm walking on.

    3) Regardless of my above praise of Adams, the safety-safety draft strategy will be mocked all year and go down as one of the bigger Jets blunders. Yes, I'm not very high on MM. Moreover, two safeties don't move the needle in turning around a franchise.

    4) Our defense is good enough to win 4-6 games with McCown starting. However we go winless in games Hackenberg starts and plays the majority of the snaps. The team can't win if we're turning it over and Hack is just too inaccurate to avoid INTs from nfl-level corners.

    5) It will become obvious Forte is officially done. Powell is our best hope toting the rock and we need to find him help. This last draft was loaded with rbs and we missed an opportunity to get some serious value there.

    6) The OL will be better than expected. And so will the LBs.

    7) Wrs are an interesting group with a lot of jags. No true go-to guy. Chad Hansen will be one of the better players by the end of the season.

    8) Bryce Petty will move ahead of Hack by year's end and will be brought back next year as a backup.

    9) Wilkerson will be much improved this season. Sheldon will have his moments but he will not come anywhere close to returning to all-pro level. He's gone after this year and no one will be disappointed with that.

Why didn't you put SPOILER ALERT on here.  I agree with all of your predictions.

For all the risk concern they wanted him and wanted to trade up to get him; it's not some idea plucked from out of the sky. The Meadowlands weather wasn't this big oh-noes for Pennington, Fitzpatrick, or visiting QBs. It's also not nearly as much a limiting factor as just being a bad or inaccurate QB. Also there's a difference between not having an elite arm and having a super-weak arm. Ryan's arm is adequate enough. The number of times the Meadowlands winds would combine with him to cause a loss for us (but would not affect the other team) is so minimal it was a dumb concern.

The cascade of events that followed was tremendous. It's nothing to yeah-whatever over:

    1. Drafting Gholston, who came with an old-CBA rookie contract
    2. Paying Favre $13m
    3. Trading a 3rd round pick for Favre
    4. Trading a 1st rounder for Sanchez
    5. Trading a 2nd rounder for Sanchez
    6. Trading away our starting DE for Sanchez
    7. Trading away Elam - who did have some trade value at the time - for Sanchez
    8. Signing Sanchez to an old-CBA rookie contract
    9. Extending Sanchez
    10. Using a high 2nd round pick to draft Geno
    11. Picking up Fitzpatrick
    12. Re-signing Fitzpatrick
    13. Using a 2nd round pick to draft Hackenberg
    14. Tanking on purpose for the 2nd time in 5 years, so we could hopefully get a high draft pick for a QB next year

Literally none of these things would have happened.

After reading that cascade, I realize I need a drink.

You really think throwing him on the field to try to learn while we played horribly, the vets quit on the team, wr were playing alligator arms and the line was Swiss cheese would have cause NO HARM to any possible future the kid has? How many times have we seen a QB ruined because he was put in too soon with teams much better than we fielded last year?

I know you cant be serious when you say it would have hurt nothing. The small chance he has this year all would have been ruined by ANOTHER example of the Jets throwing in a qb too soon....the sanchize and geno were both put in before they were ready....sorry, sitting the kid was the best thing that could have ever happened to him.

When you are at the bottom there is only one direction you can go.

Okay. But please remember this. Like seriously don't forget it. Because it is important.

The Jets will not select a QB in the 1st round of the 2018 NFL draft. Because Christian Hackenberg will be the 2018 opening day starter for the Jets.

It is right there. All you have to do is see it.

Let me know when you all see it.

    I think I see it....

sorry but this year had a sh*tty QB class I don't blame him for not drafting one of those QB;s if he knew he was going to gut the team and rebuild since next years QB class is much much better. Its called thinking ahead and being smart not being stupid.

I still would have picked Watson, but how do you explain picking Hackenberg last year?   They had a private workout with him and STILL picked him in the 2nd round!

If you pay 25 mil per for a franchise QB no way you spend the top five pick on another franchise QB that would be insane. If you have your guy, lets assume that's Cousins, then you start building your team around him, wouldn't that first round pick be better suited for a position of need like a dynamic RB or a premier pass rusher ?

Sorry but paying a QB 25 mil+ means hes the guy. You don't then turn around and draft say a Darnold or a Rosen if we happen to pick that high. Not to mention if you do sign Cousins the guarantee is probably going to be in the 80-90 million range. In this case you might take a QB in the later rounds OR you just stick with Hack and Petty or one of the two to play behind Cousins.

Cousins has enough of a resume that a team should know if hes the guy or not. Everything else is a total crap shoot.

So no you cant do both it makes no sense.

That is how our current GM is.  He believes he is the smartest man in the room....  He will not draft a QB in the first round even if we go 0-16.  He is just that stupid.  I would love to get Cousins because he is legit.  Also with the QB rules the NFL has, he could play for 10 more years at a high level.
