There is a huge difference between being a scout who can evaluate the talent of individual players, and being a GM who has to assemble a team. Macc has found some talent, but where he has failed, in my opinion, is in building a team. As you pointed out in another post, over the course of 3 offseasons, he has not been able to solve for the most important positions in the game. We head into the 3rd season of Macc's regime with question marks/injury risks at LT and CB1. And we have no legitimate edge rusher, starting QB, WR1 or RB1. Yet Macc continually seems to get a pass from the fanbase.
I am not calling for his head, at least not yet -- I will wait to see how some of our young OL, RBs, WRs and TEs develop this year. But if we end the season with the same holes we have now, then I would be ready to move on from both Bowles and Macc.

Another positive is that there should be zero pressure on this team. No expectations from the fans or media. They should be able to focus this year on football.

Start Petty against the vagiants on Saturday. Let's start making a move toward stability on offense. Hack sucks and McCown should just be insurance.

I want to see Hack and Petty trade halves the rest of the preseason. McCown will be fine on the bench. Let's see what the young ones can do with the first unit.

Yet, the team was well coached based off of what we saw last night .
Funny, I saw all these same issues last yr all year and all I read was how poorly the team was coached .
The team looked better if but for the fact that the loafing Revis was not out there. Our team played hard, I like that.

I will give Hack a strong C, Petty disappointed but was playing with a scrub o-line. Still should have drafted Watson.
