  1. The Tarheels didn't test as well as people thought they should. I am on board with Gainwell at 86 if he lasts. Sermon tested way better than expected too. He might be a great pickup in that mid-range too.
  2. But guys, HE considers himself the best tackle in the draft!!!
  3. I went with Marshall. He has the size to be a #1, but he might be repetitve with what he already have (Mims/Davis). I like Rondale Moore a ton, but his size also scares me for that early of a selection. This offense needs to some explosion though and he fits for jet sweeps.
  4. mentioned him earlier as someone I was looking at in the later rounds at C. If we don't get Humphries I am all for Dalman/Morrissey.
  5. I disagree. This is the year to go quantity because there is a lot less information to go on (games, combine, etc.). Take a bunch of shots and hope they pan out. Plus just like last year at the very least a lot of picks adds better depth. Next year go for quality with a full season and combine. Hopefully the team depth will be much better and we can target key pieces.
  6. I'll add to that if you're going to draft DL at least make a passrusher...the fact that they've all been interior just makes it so much more of a fail.
  7. We knew this class was good, but all these elite metrics? It's really hard to believe. Lack of a combine really puts a bit of an asterisk on these scores. Not saying they aren't athletic...just questioning all elite scores popping up. For instance guys like Meinerz (I know many on here love him) were supposed to be better in a phone booth, but now he's graded out elite... Which guys do you believe the tape matches up?
  8. While we signed one LB, that was only a temporary fix on a flyer. Depending on how the board falls, I wouldn't mind trying to find a long term solution in the mid rounds. Might have to just wait till next year as the priority is on the O.
  9. I wouldn't want to see it at 186, but assuming JD aquires a 7th I'd be happy to spend some capital there. Even if it doesn't work out or the guy isn't elite right away, its gotta be better than what we've seen the last 2 years.
  10. We all know the Jets need immediate starters on the line, especially on the interior. I really like positionally versatility for the short term and the idea of taking someone early we can throw at OG to transition to RT next year resonates with me. Regardless we need to continue to develop that pipeline. Trying to uncover some late round prospects that might be good fits. Here are some players I am looking at and wanted to hear your thoughts: Kayode Awosika, OT Buffalo (I'm alumni so would be cool to support him in the pros) Drew Dalman, OC Stanford David Moore, OG Grambling Tommy Doyle, OT Miami (OH) Tristen Hoge, BYU Who are some others you guys are looking at?
  11. I've been liking the idea of drafting Mayfeild at 23 if Vera-Tucker is gone. It gives a potential top tier RG for year 1 while he gets acclimated. Then he transitions to RT next year. Hopefully by that time Clark or another later draft pick will develop enough as well (wishful thinking - and they'll have to still keep adding to the OL pipeline no matter what).
  12. Are you seriously saying signing a few small potato FAs and investing in a DE is "all the attention." For as long as the Jets have been without an EDGE you know you would've been screaming if they couldn't get one with how many were out there. I am perfectly happy with that investment and the rest are patchwork pieces needed for the switch to a 4-3. I'd rather give Salah a few pieces this way to operate the D as he needs rather than invest premium draft capital. This will free JD to focus more draft capital into the O. Is it disappointing we didn't get more OL help? Sure, but there really wasn't much outside of Linsley and Thuney. There are some great OL prospects in the draft so hopefully we at least 2 picks there. RBs in this system you don't pay for. Again draft one. I would've liked to see a FA TE, but not at the price BB was paying. Again we'll have to hope for a draft pick to work out...
  13. So we give up 2, 34 and next years first for...the 32 year old QB? Sorry but I prob. dont want to give that up for Watson.
  14. Ya my mistake. Not sure why I thought that...
  15. With Campbell going to Detroit I think it is likely Glenn is offered the DC job in NO; which would block the Jets from hiring him.
  16. UB represent (alumni here)! I think he is solid value. I think he could develop into a starter and plays hard enough to contribute on STs right away. In the 5th that's not the worst for rookies. Admittedly I only caught a handful of UB games this year when they were televised so I don't have a further breakdown on him, but if I miss out on EDGE I often target him later.
  17. I know you addressed it, but if I'm looking DL I'm trying to find EDGE over DT. Might be good value, but we just don't need it at that point (no problem adding depth/development later on with a lot of picks). Not against RT at 23, but I think you can find some solid ones in rounds 3-5. I can't help but love the value of Vrabel or Lucas. Maybe I'm wrong? I have no problem looking for OLBs switching over to a 4-3. You don't overdraft them so at that point I don't mind the value. I like Schwartz and Carter at those spots too. The one big miss is not addressing CB at least once. Good job overall though!
  18. If we are not cutting Fant I don't want to spend 34 on a RT that is sitting. I'd rather take Lucas or Vrabel later and get an impact offensive player. If Freiermuth is there you've got to pull the trigger. If not, given your draft offseason, I go for best WR available. TY Hilton isn't enough to stop me from adding talent to that group. Switching to a 4-3 Jets will need to add an OLB for the scheme. I might look for one at 38 or 68 (if I flip and take a top OC earlier) instead of a safety since we just drafted one and you are resigning Maye. I like some of your late round selections at WR, TE, and CB. I like drafting best EDGE available at 23. I like waiting for a RB and not using premium capital on the position. RB is deep this year. Good job overall! O
  19. In my mocks I've been targeting Lucas or Vrabel alot around that point. Some really solid mid-round RT prospects this year.
  20. In my sim mocks I usually pick EDGE if one falls or I've been really liking the idea of going with Freiermuth, TE. I expect to the Jets to go after a WR in FA and a top TE can really create mismatches regardless. At the top of the second I think it is imperative to get the top OC available though. I might even secure Myers at 23 if we go with Fields at 2 for familiarity and continuity. Might be funny if they go after Olave and Myers both with the next 2 picks!
  21. I like this option too. It also gives the Jets the ability to let him walk in FA and collect a comp pick.
  22. Will never have a top D without a a passrusher.
  23. Why are so many people panicking with the OL? The draft was terribly weak in OL and I honestly don't feel our OL is THAT bad. Could C be better? Yes. Am I sold on Beechum as a long term answer? No, but its not like they have some massive sink hole either. Not to mention they still have some "depth" at OT in Iljana a Shell. After cuts hopefully they can secure better depth at OG and C, but the sky isn't falling and it's far from the weakest unit on the Jets.
  24. Member when Blount punched other men and didn't get drafted?
  25. I think both WR additions are 3-4th WRs, Drafting both only shoot us in the foot since the WR position had the most depth on our team already. This just makes us have to cut from our strength rather than add more talent to weakness.
