  1. I can't wait till peak pre-season!
  2. Sorry, lots of auto correct. Point I was trying to make is that when we drafted him a lot of people (or atleast a loud minority here) were worried he was a spoiled rich kid who wouldn't care about football. I don't know if he will be great but he is certainly putting in effort.
  3. I really do appreciate the initiative from Zach. It's one thing to host Jets West equivs during off-season, but he seems to have spent most of his break traveling the country to be with his receivers and put in work with them. I can only hope that it leads to something good but I think he's put to bed worries on whether he would put in the time because of his uncle's wealth between the time put into gaining weight and training with his teammates.
  4. No one knows. We are a 'bright future' team right now on both sides of the ball, a lot of promise and very light on experience. I think JD has approached the two sides of ball with pretty decent balance this past off season but I dont think we'll know until Oct. In reality, Zach looked brilliant last pre-season. Was only once full speed and gameplanning hit last season that we saw him short circuit at times, ultimately thats gonna be the deciding factor though with the improvements to the players around him he will be under less pressure to short circuit...
  5. The footage of him working the phones for an hour to trade up for JJ is amazing. Real effort and aggression to get what he wants - great balance when you consider how disciplined he has been in free agency.
  6. I can't speak to his mental prep but you cannot fault his work ethic or focus on football. He looks like a totally different person physically in this years docuseries. I don't remember ever seeing a transformation in building out a frame like that in one off season.
  7. Adding a probowler to the line IS a substantial upgrade, no? Just watching our bts series, it occurred to me that Tomlinson's impact will be just as important off as on the field. The guy seems like an absolute pro and super serious. Seems like exactly the kind of fellow you'd want to bring in to elevate Mehki and AVT - like Faneca vibes (only Laken had more left in tank himself at his stage).
  8. That's what it felt like watching. He also probably led league in unforced errors first three quarters of season, but if you were to add half of those errors back he'd of been over the 60% bar that seems to always come up with rookie QBs.
  9. He's always a good interview. Seems like a fantastic guy to have in locker room.
  10. This is even worse than the "Pig is ripe" threads that always backfire...
  11. I think the late Joe McKnight had a similar thing as a rookie in the heat.
  12. Didn't realize Roger Craig was his cousin. And forgot he was coached by Matt Campbell, who we get linked to every time we switch coaches...
  13. Pretty sure Cam Clark retired officially.
  14. Agree. Esp on Hall. Our offense may look more like Tennessee's than San Francisco's and with a developing QB, I am totes fine with that.
  15. Amazing how the consensus never formed this year. I would have thought it would be more the case in the past few years without/or very different combines and visits or where players had taken seasons off due to COVID. But the past couple of drafts were way more predictable than this year - maybe it's just a function of there being fewer QBs worth taking early.
  16. I think it's hard to question the Nelson pick when that team would likely have been a Superbowl contender if their ironically named QB hadn't decided to retire suddenly and unexpectedly sinking their battleship.
  17. This is where you see what all the enthusiasm is about. There are numerous spots where last year's starter is now 3rd string. This is what should happen when you've been as bad as we've been, but it's still got to happen... And I can't wait to see it.
  18. I mean Smith-Ndigba caught for 347 yards in one of the games Wilson sat... At same time, Wilson scored more TDs. Of course JSN is absolutely ridiculous (really pops when you watch their film), but Wilson increased his catches and yards materially each year (after contributing well as a Freshman) and he played a lot in the positions we want him to occupy on the field for us.
  19. I know it's sounds dumb but I think Mekhi is the key. If he plays like THE BIG TICKET on either side of the line, playing beside Tomlinson or AVT, Hall and MC1 should be able to get to the second level consistently on early downs and then the risk profile of MLs creative plays comes way down. On Mims - he just seemed like a different guy to me last year. He looked so much more stiff and less smooth coming out of his breaks. Whereas he had looked fantastic his last year at Baylor, the Sr Bowl and even his rookie year with us when he got on the field running the few routes he did... It just didn't look like he had put time into his craft... I really hope he has a big response this year it would be awesome to have him as an active WR4 and heir apparent to Davis' role. The sheer speed of our receiving core would be excellent then too.
  20. I used to think that. Since I started flipping between the ESPN/NFL network broadcasts and the Bleacher Report simulcast which uses The Athletic's calls to announce the picks a bit earlier I am not so sure - the BR guys spend the time on actually dissecting each player with more depth and in the later rounds it gives them time to cover every pick whereas the ESPN/NFL Network broadcasts have to pick and choose once the picks start coming in faster. It's great to see the players on the broadcast, but I've come to come to appreciate both.
