    The plan:

    1. Darnold plays good, team seems to play hard.

    2. Jets lose 24-21 as they can't stop the pass.....again.

    3. Redskins trade up from #5 to #4 with the Jets to get a QB.  Jets snag Andrew Thomas OT at #5 and use the Redskins 2nd round pick on a Center

    4. I send a Thank You card to Dan Snyder.

no way man.  I don't think I could take a loss to the Skins!  they have to beat them and the Bengals.  the raiders are actually looking good now, and even the fins looked better against us and the colts.  but the skins and bengals?  My God, you cannot lose to those two teams.

So because Macc sucked at his job, tanking for a higher pick is bad?  Joe Douglas is the GM now.  I'd prefer to assume he's good at his job and give him as many picks as possible, with the highest pick slot possible, in an otherwise lost season.

First off, players do not tank.  we are just discussing whether it would be beneficial for the Jets to get a higher pick, or get Sam some more progression/wins.  Players are basically personal contractors; if they "tank" it shows, and their value decreases, and their next contract will suffer as a result.  Now when an organization (like the Dolphins) sells all your good pieces, that is a group trying to tank.  but watch those fins last week and this week:  they are trying to win!!

I got off subject here:  I thinking tanking/discussing tanking at / before week 10 is absolutely ludicrous!!  I was on board with tanking last year after the Houston game.  Sam came back to be the youngest QB in NFL history to lead a 4th Qtr comeback win against the Bills, and then played extremely well in a loss to Houston.  At that point, the wins didn't matter as much as him playing well and Jets losing.

But now?  the Pats absolutely destroyed his confidence IMHO.  He has gotten better and better each week since.  a little mind you, but still he is getting better.  I think he must be feeling much more confident after yesterday.  Go and beat the skins and it will continue.

Because we haven't picked good players with those picks.  And we also haven't picked high enough in certain instances.

In 2015, we could have had Amari Cooper instead of Leonard Williams if we'd lost just one more game.  In 2018, we wouldn't have had to cough up three 2nd rounders to get Darnold had we lost 1-2 extra games.  And this past draft, we could have had Nick Bosa instead of Quinnen with 1 additional loss.

But sure, the value in "learning to win" really worked out for us, didn't it.

I don't know, man.  all everyone said in the 2015 draft was that Leo was the best player in the draft.  I seriously doubt we would have taken Cooper!  I mean you are giving our previous GM a lot of credit here!!

Green on green sucked with the old unis and they suck with the current ones. It's insane to me that the people who work for the Jets don't realize this and ban them forever.

I think it's for the kids to be honest.  I never understand green/green, red/red, etc.  Yet my son and kids his age all love this same color combo stuff!  looks stupid to me.

Love the black uniforms I’ve been waiting 30 years for this

me too.  most of the Jets gear I own is black.  jacket, coat, hats, winter hat, gloves, etc.  still have my "Parcells" black jacket for '97!!  People at my gym thought it was brand new because of the new unis.

You can also tank for a high pick so you can trade down to a QB-needy team for three first rounders.  I like that option.

My ideal scenario is Darnold playing great but we lose a lot of shootouts.

yes but remember what happened this past year?  nobody wanted to trade with us, supposedly.  Now I know we have Douglas now, so I guess we should have a little faith, but NOTHING more important than Sam getting on track.  Not only playing well, but WINNING as well.

  7. I agree with all above me thus far.  You tank for a QB.  We got ours, now get the pieces around him.  If we get the #2 pick next year, will they take an offensive lineman?  nah, that's not enough for a #2 pick, let's take another d-lineman!!  when the Jets start getting it right in the draft, I think we can start the tanking talk again.  But yes, much more important for Sam to get back on track.  that Pats game killed him, and it took him a while to recover; hopefully this game will be something to build on.

    It actually is

100%!!!  It's amazing - all week, all the chirping from those a$$holes.  you'd think the vagiants were 7-2 instead of 2-7!!  yeat ever since 4 PM yesterday afternoon?  CRICKETS!!!  Love it!  there is nothing like a quiet giants fan!!  2011 until 2023 (at least) is a LOOONG time for these morons to go w/o beating the Jets.  I am so done with the whole idea of tanking for a higher pick  the Jets are NOT one player away.  you tank for a QB, and we got ours.  now let's put some actual pieces around him.

  9. The next few weeks should look just like today. Meaningless games between the Jets and fellow bottom feeders. Nothing Darnold or anyone else does against them or they do against us will mean much. Our season and those team's are over.
Daniel Jones had an OL just as bad as ours today. He was missing his top 2 receivers, and throwing to a 34 WR a 5th round rookie, and some guy named Lattimer. He threw 4 TD passes w/o a int for the second time in 3 weeks.
I am dumbfounded you don't see his abilities.

    And he LOST.

(And looked like a little bitch when he handed off to Jamal for 6!)

  10. I hate the Giants and their arrogant fans, smug owners, big mouth GM. Shurmur also comes across as a kind of a doosche.
Also I’m done jockeying for draft position. It’s okay to do once in a while when you want a QB, but it’s getting old now.

This is post of the week right here.

Yeah let’s lose out so we can get yet ANOTHER high draft pick, and AGAIN pick another defensive lineman.

Shutting the mouths of arrogant giants fans for another 4 years is worth SO much more!

  11. Having family and many friends being NY Giants fans is a real problem for me if the Jets falter I will never hear the end of it.

This is my life in a nut shell. Sad thing is: the giants look AWFUL this year! This was supposed to be the year! Always seems like every time we play the giants, it’s a terrible year for us, and/or great for them:
-1996: Jets are 1-15 lose to giants
-1999: Jets are predicted to go to Super Bowl, but lose Vinny in week 1 (this one hurt!) lose to giants
-2003: Jets lose Chad for year, lose to giants
-2007: Giants win SB, Jets lose
-2011: on friggin Christmas EVE!! Worst one of them all! Worst Christmas for me! Jets dominate first half, but cannot score to save themselves. Pin giants on their 1 yard line. Eli dumps a 2 yard pass that Cruz turns into 99 yard TD. Jets lose.
-2015: we finally win, albeit in OT. Time to start a winning streak!

What a shame. I have zero confidence in this game on Sunday. They are ruining Sam the way they ruined Sanchez. The OL is God awful, DL cannot get to any QB. As awful as Daniel Jones is, his OL gives him all the time in the world back there. As awful as the midgets defense is (only team in whole NFL to give up 25+ points in 8 games this season!) I do not see us scoring even 10 points.

I was so primed. This was my SB this year. Stick it to all the giants fans in my life. Giants are the 2nd worst team in football this year!

Unfortunately, the Jets are THE worst.

Damn, I was hoping for White on White again.

I was hoping for (expecting actually) the all black.  just figured it was a night game and it was a given.  truly surprised.

I never really liked the all whites, but I do this year since they have the green helmets.  and in the Sam Darnold "era" - not sure if anyone has mentioned this - the Jets have won 5 games with Sam at QB.  and 4 of those games were all white unis.  just sayin' for all you who believe in that kinda stuff....

and to give hope for tonight - their other win (Broncos last year) was all green!!

I will give Sanchez credit for playing well in the post season however; I think it's a mischaracterization to say he "took them to 2 AFC championship games". The defense, special teams, offensive line & running game took them there. Sanchez was mostly along for the ride. QB's get too much credit for what their teams do far too often.

I agree 100%, but he was part of those teams.  and Jones has done......nothing.

The media has been easy on him, kissing his and the Giants ass for weeks. Going into yesterday's game, they picked the Giants to win and get "back" into the playoff hunt.

    Playoffs?  What?

they should have won.  Cards are an AWFUL team, and they were home.  they had a backup RB rush for 7 yards/carry I think?  crazy!  as for playoffs, the NFC East is awful as well.  if they had won yesterday, they would have been one game out of 1st place, which is crazy to think about.

man, I wish we could have that Philly game back with Sam.  like I always say:  it's not WHO you play, but WHEN you play them.  swap out the philly game for Washington.  I think even Falk could have won that game.....oh well....

    Yes.

After getting destroyed in the media for Gettleman and the Jones pick at 6 all of a sudden the Giants message, everywhere was how good Danny Dimes was.  Every day, weverywhere, the media bought in and it was erased.  Now he sucks and it's Shurmur who's going to get blamed.

well shurmur was SO ARROGANT about it.  he came into those press conferences with his chest all puffed out: "how about our #6 pick now?"  same with Saquon's injury: "that's not what OUR doctors said..."  so friggin' arrogant - perfect guy for that organization.  man, I hate arrogant people!!

Did you watch the game today? Sam never looked like what happened today. Bill Belichick made Sam look bad, he does that to rookies. Dimes lost to the cornerback from Remember the Titans today, that isn't good.

In preparation for tonight, I re-watched that game last year over the weekend.  And while Darnold did not play like he had the three previous games last year (or this year thus far) I don't think he was SO bad.  I almost forgot about our late-2018 team.  He had Eli McGuire as his back, he was throwing to Andre Roberts and Burnett!!!!  I mean Roberts can sure deliver a mean kickoff return, but a decent WR he is not.  and then you look at the OL Darnold had.....nuff said.....

then we had our wonderful defense.  we were just getting blown out, so not much Sam could do to be honest.  had some dropped balls, but also some "Sammy-esque" just absolutely gorgeous throws!

yes, we lost the game.  but Sam was still a rookie and had ZERO interceptions, whereas Danny boy.....well you get my point.  Jones just looks absolutely lost out there.  Sam just was always running for his life because of our awful OL and the fact his WRs were awful and could not get any separation.  and when they did, they dropped passes.

Hoping for a better result tonight!
