  1. You can hold in the NFL and get away with it if you are on the offensive line of a team that the league office is queer for. Most of the Steelers game winning drives with Ben Roethlisberger "extending" the play for 10 seconds or more came courtesy of the zebras looking the other way as the Steeler lineman were grabbing on to defenders's in every manner possible. In the Steeler Super Bowl win over the Cardinals, their MVP should have been the line judge. The refs use holding to control the game... Especially in favor of their favorites like the Steelers and NE.
  2. Least favorite. Fan chant at Chiefs game. Get a life.
  3. Exactly. Trade the best player for a draft pick that may or may not work out... Brilliant. Though, if he traded Adams for a top tier offensive tackle with at least 5 good playing years left, I would be OK with it. If JD drafts a defensive lineman of any variety with the first pick, he should be drawn and quartered...
  4. And Manning was telling Gase what to do...
  5. I'd like to have Thomas at LT, but he will be gone. The next best thing would be Wirfs at RT. I dont like Wills at RT or LT. If anything, perhaps Wills can transition to LG. With his much better than average mobility for the LG position, he could do a lot of pulling and getting out in front. I still maintain that my ideal off season coup would be adding Costanzo at LT and drfting Wirfs for RT.
  6. The teams that take Burrow and Tue before Herbert are going to be kicking themselves in the ass in three years time.
  7. That sort of a thing is what I had in mind. It would be a lot of fun. I'd like to see a 330 lb offensive guard run the "dreaded obstacle course"...
  8. My idea is this... It would still be nice to recognize Pro Bowl performances without having to play the useless game. So, I propose this. You still select Pro Bowlers for each position. They get the tittle and the recognition. Next... You send all the Pro Bowlers to Hawaii for an amazing vacation. And you have a fun spectacle on TV that will be a lot more entertaining and safe for the players than an actual football game... NFC vs AFC in the following 1. Tug Of War 2. Dunking Booth, 3. Pie Eating Contest 4. Idiotic but funny and safe obstacle cou
  9. I dig where you are coming from with respect to Herbert's inconsistent play. There are a lot of reasons one player can look better than another with both of them operating within two respective sets circumstances. Also agree on the anxiety any GM would have when selecting a QB like JH or TT. There are some clear red flags there with both of those QB's. If it turns out that they cant clean it up (JH) or break the injury bug (TT) that GM's career has taken a nose dive. The safe pick would be JB at QB, but if it was my choice, I'd go with Herbert because I think he transitions to pro be
  10. I've been saying since the Spring that Herbert is the best QB who will be entering the draft. I would take him over JB or TT for sure. I hope the Jets scouts saw offensive lineman Ben Barch from St. Johns. I'd love to plug that guy in at guard.
  11. If you call having one of the best SS's in the league for another season "no reason", then yeah... Keep him for no reason.
  12. Even the best of the GM's is playing a game of craps when it comes to the draft. I don't think you realize the nature of the crisis that the Jets are facing. Needing five offensive lineman while a second year QB is still learning the position ??? You are pretty much looking at a five alarm fire. It will take tremendous focus on that task in order to avoid another losing season and perhaps a dead QB. You cant hang your hat on the draft to fix this problem. Adams has to be traded for a deal that included an offensive lineman of note, or not traded at all. It is not conventional to think th
  13. Yeah, but dont trade him *unless* it is for a high caliber offensive lineman. Every other position is a luxury at this point. NOTHING needs to get done until that line is fixed. If you get a first rounder pick for him, that pick may or may not work out. If it was any other team with varied needs, I would say, yeah, take the first round pick for him, but when you need 5 offensive lineman and the life of your brand new QB depends on it, you dont f*** around at the crap table...
  14. If his contract is up, what are they gonna do, put him in handcuffs ??? Either you trade him NOW and get a proven top tier offensive lineman in trade, or you keep him for one more season and get the benefit of his good play for one more year before he walks for more money than the Jets are willing to pay. They could also consider extending him now with a backloaded contract...
  15. Perhaps all you JA haters would prefer Eric Smith at the SS position ??? He never said anything immature... Bottom line. If he is really a team guy, he'll accept a fair deal. If he wants to fleece the Jets for every penny they are worth, let him walk when his contract is up. If you can trade him now, it has to be a deal that gives the Jets NOTHING SHORT of a Pro Bowl caliber O-Line guy in the prime of his career...
  16. He wants to play. This is advice from his agent to get more $$$ from the Colts...
  17. The last time the Jets had a top notch line, it was Brick, Faneca, Mangold, Moore & Woody Damian Woody was FA, Faneca was FA, and Brandon Moore came from The Scottish Claymores. When you need *five* new starters for your line, FA is a must. They have to be looking everywhere now. They sould have scouts at Div II, Div III and semi-pro leagues looking for guys on the O-line that they can bring in as undrafted FA's This is a seriously desperate situation. FIVE positions on the line have to be filled.
  18. Winters and Shell have to go. Beachum is top tier back-up or bottom third starter. He is not bad. Between the three of Beachum, Lewis and Harrison, one if not two will still be starters unless they have the best off-season in team history. IMHO... The Jets management should be fully engulfed in plans to revamp that line. All other priorities rescinded. All crew members expendable...
  19. Agree fully. The can get one or two starters from the draft this year *IF* they hit on their picks, but that line could use 5 new starters. 4 at the very least. It is the worst line in the league and the worst in Jets history.
  20. I think a new CBA should get rid of the franchise tag. More trouble than it is worth. If I was Castonzo and the Jets offered me $$$$$ but the Colts franchised me, I'd sit down for a year...
  21. We shall see. I agree it will take a substantial offer. If I was the GM, it would be my priority. Castonzo in FA and Wirfs in the draft...
  22. Due to the circumstances with the Jets offensive line and where Darnold is in his development and the lack of LT's that will be available for the Jets in the draft, you take the pain of paying a lot of money for a guy like Castanzo. He has at least four good years left in him. Not only does the LT position depend on it, but so does the life and health of the QB, the offense and the 2020 season. This MUST be taken care of...
  23. Castanzo and Solder are not the same guys. Solder came into the league needing a lot more meat on his big frame. Players that need to work that hard at bulking up are not "natural" for their position. They usually fall off a cliff performance wise near the end of their career. Castanzo has at least four more very good years left in him.
  24. Castonzo all the way. Landing him would be a major coup. Stick him in at LT and draft Wirfs for RT. Draft a versatile interior O-lineman between rounds 5 and 7. Jets could go from having the worst offensive line to one of the better ones. It all comes down to adding a LT in FA. Castonzo is a nice player. Skilled, good team guy and always on the field. Pay OVER market for him. It is *THAT* important...
