    – Finally, here’s a scenario to kick around at the HC spot.  Would you consider bringing back Rex Ryan at HC if he brings in a staff headed by Tony Elliott (Clemson OC) and Jim Leonhard (Wisconsin DC)?  If you look at all the connections its not crazy:

    * Ryan continually speaks well of the Johnson family
    * Ryan worked closely with Douglas when they were both in BAL
    * Ryan coached Leonhard in the league and always spoke highly of his defensive knowledge
    * Ryan’s son (Seth) went to Clemson and he has a close relationship with Dabo Swinney

Yes.   I would love that... BUT.

    1.  Rex does not run the offense.

    2. Rex has nothing to do with the draft or FA.  He can tell Joe Douglas what type of players he needs to run his type of exotic defense, but NO WAY does Rex make any "people" decisions.

    3.  I love Rex for letting it all hang out and having fun and being entertaining, but he needs to learn one lesson and act accordingly if he is gonna be the HC.  He cant give so much motive for other teams to kick the Jets ass.  He has to compliment other teams and coaches in the media.  Not piss them off and jack them up.  Why make it hard on yourself ??? If you want to have fun and a few laughs, don't be critical of your opponent... Just go get a goddam snack..

Lawrence way more mobile than Marino

Very true.  Marino can not scramble like Trevor Lawrence can, but Marino was ideal at navigating the pocket.  That calls for pocket awareness and understanding of when and where to take that all important single step up, back or to the side.   Brady is the same way.

Joe Montana.   Where do I pick up my prize.

Montana ?  Hmmm.  Not too similar.  Montana was limited physically but was masterful at playing the QB position from the neck up.  Both football IQ and unshakable confidence.  Joe Cool.  You also have to factor in Walsh with Montana.  Just like Belichick with Brady...

And Manning with GASE... HAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy he reminds me of because of his arm strength and his total belief that he can make any throw at any time in the game is Dan Marino.

I don't think he compares to Marino with both taken as a whole, but TL does have a few Marino qualities. Economical and effective use of minimum ideal motion to navigate the pocket.  Same with Tom Brady.  Always the right step in the right direction when operating in the pocket.  Also... Like Marino, TL has a very fast delivery.  TL has long legs and arms, but he is not ungainly. There is no wasted motion when he throws.  Nice and compact.

He will compare to Josh Allen or Justin Herbert

I love those two QB's.  As good as they are, Trevor Lawrence has a faster delivery than both of them.  He can throw from a larger variety of arm angles with more of a compact arm motion.  Although he can move in the pocket and he can scramble, Conservation of motion is one of his best qualities.  In the pro game when the field is fast and crowded, that will come in super handy !

A perfect combination of all the bestest QBs ever.

That is about right, yes... Trevor Lawrence is pretty much in a class of his own.  It is beyond exciting that the Jets are on the cusp of making this happen.  Considering Trevor Lawrence on his own is pretty wild, but if you also factor in that the Jets now also have Joe Douglas who appears to absolutely own his job... That is mind blowing.  For once, a capable and dependable administrator running the team... AND the QB prospect of the century coming to the Jets.

I'm so jacked-up about this... If it does not happen, I'll be like one of those deflated lawn Santas.

Physically the guy is built like a greyhound. 6-6" 225. He's much faster than he looks because his legs are long & he eats up ground.

What I love about him is he looks to pass first, ALWAYS unless it's a called run. Those types of players are a real PITA in the NFL because you can cover all your bases but if we have say, Robinson - Mims- Crowder- Devonte Smith? Plus a TE & a RB that can catch?

He'll have so many easy lanes to run through & one on one, open field, TL vs a LB? Who wins that leg race?

    Yes !  Oh, yes !

  8. I've seen a lot of Trevor Lawrence the past few years and I am all in on the Jets doing whatever it takes to land this *GENERATIONAL* talent.

Still... I really cant come up with a current or former NFL QB that he compares to.  Trevor Lawrence is unique in his impressive qualities.

Due to size, athleticism, football smarts, maturity & character, he really is in a class of his own.  You would have to take the qualities of several past NFL QB's to make one Trevor Lawrence.

With size and strength, you have a QB that compares to Big Ben

With athletic ability, you have a QB that compares to Elway

With timing, ball placement and over the top throwing motion with mountain top release point, you have Brady and Manning

With football smarts, maturity and character,  you have Andrew Luck.

How do you see it ???

    Discuss the Jets next QB...

What else is there to say ?

This is not rock bottom.  This is "mountain top" as long as the season ends in 0-16 (or 1-15 with the Jags winning a second game before the Jets win their first)

once again name me any coaches the jets paid top dollar for under their ownership. I will  wait but you wont have an answer.

The johnsons never want to pay top dollar for coaches even though in the end the have to pay several coaches at a time since they hired bad ones to start out with

only leon hess paid and that was because he said he was old and wanted to win now-Parcells came to the jets

They paid, Rex, Bowles & Gase their market rate.  They didn't pay them higher because they didn't need to.

Here is where the rubber meets the road.  The coaches that would command big money DID NOT WANT TO COME TO THE JETS BECAUSE THEY KNEW FROM THE INTERVIEW THAT JOHNSON WOULD BE CONSTANTLY JERKING THEM AROUND, PULLING THEIR CHAIN, PISSING IN THEIR SOUP AND F*****G UP THEIR KITCHEN IN GENERAL.

If my supposition about Joe Douglas is correct and he is in fact the one swinging his balls around, any prospective coaches for 2021 would not have the same reason to object to coming to the Jets.

It is a new ballgame, quite literally.

Johnson will pay big money *IF* a big money coach wants the job.

And, If I am correct about Douglas and the role he is playing, we'll get a very promising HC for 2021.

If I am wrong and Johnson is still in the kitchen sticking his dick in the toaster, Gase will be back.

We'll all of us know the truth of it on January 4th.

I call BS. The Johnsons may be terminally dumb, but they aren't cheap. They are acquainted with the fact that until the franchise isn't considered a dumpster fire, they will have to pay a premium for coaches and FA players. They have paid in the past, and will pay in the future.

Agree here, 100 %.  Woody knows nothing from nothing, but he has no problem throwing money around.  He spends.  The Jets are not run well, but the are lavishly appointed.  Great facilities and great player resources across the board.

No in person attendance this year.  Not being at a home game for the first time since 1988.  No problem. 2021 is just around the corner.

The Jets just called and said would you like to reserve your 2021 group ticket outing? Paying a deposit now gets you to the head of the line.

    Me? Hell yeah.

So hopefully 2021 is a return to normal and we will be throwing a JetNation tailgate before a home game and anyone who wants to go can sit with us at the game.

    Fingers crossed!

I'd love to commit, BUT... I will wait to see if Gase is gone and Trevor Lawrence is part of the stable. As I declared in a previous post, if the aforementioned occurs, I will be getting my season tickets back.

It means that Joe Douglas is in charge of the team and Johnson is being kept out of his kitchen.

That is *EVERYTHING* and it can not be understated.

So if we get the 1st pick - Trevor - ( we will 😏 )  who do we take at 25 and 33 which are 2 high profile picks.  So many excellent players will be available and we have so many needs.  And we have big bucks to add some really good talent via free agency which will obviously factor into JD's drat day decisions.   The positions of utmost need: OL across the board, mainly guard,  WR, edge, CB, RB, TE, LB.  Of course, Rome wasn't built in a day and this is no quick fix but these 2 picks can make an immediate impact.  So we have to look at IMO, our greatest needs first.  Initially, I hoped we would go offense and get Trevor weapons asap. But the defense is just putrid.  We desperately needs a corner and an edge.  On offense we need to solidify the OL, get another top flight WR to go along with Mims, a TE and a cow bell RB.  Lot of needs to say the least.  Quite the conundrum.   So do we go BPA at a position of need? Or is JD set on one particular area? Many of these guys are all over the place in the first 2 rounds mocks but these seem to be the top guys at their respective positions. So here's the list of players that will be considered with the 25 and 33 picks.  Who do you want, who don't you want and why?

OL: C Humphries, G Wyatt Davis, C Trey Smith, T Alex Leatherwood, T Jalen Mayfield, T Cosmi, T Little, T Slater

WR: Smith, Waddle, Moore, Bateman, Marshall, Olave

CB: Wade, Adebo, Farley, Horn, Campbell, Kendrick

    RB: Harris, Etienne

    TE: Pitts, Friemuth

Edge: Hutchinson, Basham, Paye, Weaver, Oweh, Roussseau, Jones

Obviously, an inside offensive lineman or CB.  Go there before RB or WR.  You can always scrounge up a ball carrier or additional WR, but good CB's come from round one and only round one with very few exceptions.

If the Johnson's fire Adam Gase at the end of the season, do you think they will hire both Charlie Casserly and Ron Wolfe to assist them in hiring a head coach?

Nothing would surprise me with the Johnson's

not a chance.  thank goodness, Joe Douglas has the brains and balls to run a quality program.  as i have been saying... For once I am confident the jets are in a good spot with respect to management.  and that is all encompassing !

with jd in place, subtrace gase and add trevlor lawrence.  that is not good.  that is not great.

that is a dream come true...

I don't know.  I feel like that might break me as a fan, honestly.  But so much time invested, who knows.

A combo of Gase back (and losing, and mismanaging, etc). and a rising Washington Team with a cool new name and logo and maybe even colors....and maybe an end to COVID so I could go to a local game?  Maybe if all that came to pass, I might wind up moving on.

But I doubt it.  We'll see.  Gase being back would be bad IMO.

I have the PERFECT new team name, colors and logo for Washington.  If only Dan S. would read this board.

    1. Name - Washington FEDERALS

    2. Colors - Union Blue & Gold (some red accents)

    3. Colors for Jersey - Union Blue ( same dark blue as Union Civil war uniform).  Stripes would be gold and or red and or light blue or aesthetic combination of the three.

    4. Pants - Light blue like union Civil war uniform.  Can have dark blue or red stripe or dark blue stripe with thin red outlines.

    5. Helmet - Dark Union Blue with metallic gold stripes.  Possibly metallic gold stripes with thin red outlines along stripes

    6. Helmet logo. Metallic gold Union eagle. or gold crossed swords.

    7. Face mask- light gray with slight blue cast.

What a perfect way to go from an offensive and racist symbol to paying homage to Washington's legacy of union, civil liberties, emancipation, freedom and weapons that go "boom".

And that uniform would look so manly... No one in the NFL has blue an gold yet.

They could also have a battery of cannons lined up (Tampa Pirate Ship, NE Patriots with muskets) to fire off when they score... That would be fun.  Not so sure the Cowboys, Falcons and other southern teams would be happy with that... But... Well.. They lost the war... LOLZ
