  1. Omg, does anybody truly believe part of the interview was deciding if Sam is gonna stay or go.? If you do , you are nuts! I suppose you also think we decided who we are picking at 2 and 23 in these interviews too?!  Comical. At best, Joe received Salehs impressions of Darnold... and they will work through the analysis over the coming weeks/months..

I'm guessing he was smart enough to not want Fields to begin with.

The easiest way to get the Jets HC job is to sell Johnson and Douglas on rehabilitating Darnold.  Methinks that's what's going to happen.

Sadly, i would not be surprised if Darnold stays...and hopefully the gm who watched him all season, Practice, games, etc.,  has more input than a guy coming over from new org, that has seen him once

The knee jerk reactions with every game are a bit much.

Good take here, Jd even said bulk of scouting has been done prior to these final 2 games. We all know what the options are, it will start with hiring new coach and  determining Darnolds trade value...

    No worries.

After last night, the Jets are not taking Fields.  Problem is, half the coaches on our shortlist were intrigued by the possibility a week ago, now they realize it's Darnold or bust, and they'll mysteriously decline our overtures.

Wrong.... This, as Saleh comes in for 2nd interview...

Trade Sam to the highest bidder outside of our division.

I'm not passing on Devonta Smith! Dynamic as they come. Not trading, not taking another LT, I'm taking Smith 2nd overall no questions asked.

Singning Allen Robinson, Thuney and Judon or Dupree. Prefer Dupree but have to see about his knee. I'm also signing a vet RB(nothing super expensive) and 1 CB.

Once the off-season kicks in, I'm getting on the phone with Detroit. I offer them #23 for Stafford. He's 32. QBs are playing into their 40s in today's NFL no problem. He easy has 5 strong years left in him. Stafford can play at a very high level.

With our 2nd round pick you take the best Offensive lineman on the board. Still have the rest of the draft to load up.

    QB -  Stafford

    RB- FA, Perrine, Johnson

WR - Robinson, Smith, Mims and Crowder

    TE - Herndon

O Line - Becton, Thuney, 2nd round pick. The other 2 spots we can make due.

This is a team that can seriously compete for the division.

There is no way in the world, with holes at OL, WR,  DE/edge, DB that the Jets waste an early pick on a RB.

You were high on Bell for the same reasons you think drafting a RB would be a good idea. Signing Bell and drafting a RB with a pick are both bad strategies for a rebuilding team.

Have you ever heard of free agency, with 100 mill in cap space. We will fill most of these holes..prior to the draft..

But Detroit doesn't have near the assets the Jets do or the #2 pick in the draft. If I'm looking for a coaching job, I'm looking at if I can (with my GM), mold a team in my image of what type of team I'm looking to build.

With 18 picks this year + next including 4 first rounders + almost 100 million in free agent dollars + a slew of late rounders to use for players that teams bleeding with the cap would want to move players, the Jets are right up there. I also see Joe Douglas as a smart football guy, team player that potential Head Coaches would love to work with.

Even when compared to Jets, Detroit is an awful team/organization.

Depends on who he brings in as OC, DC on down.

Hes a CEO type, which is good but he has to have lieutenants under him worth a damn

I think hes a long shot.

I would not pick him, but remember in Cincy, he was given zero $$$ to sign free agents etc. i think he can draw good coordinators...

Would anyone be surprised if we held on to Sam AND drafted a QB? I wouldn’t - Especially if the market is low for Darnold.

This is a very good pt, and part of equation, we are all assuming we get a 2 plus... what if thats not his market? Can’t you just decline 5th year, keep him, he is relatively inexpensive near yr. Wouldn’t we still get a 3 comp pick if he signed with someone else as Fa?

How the hell is that remotely possible.

If we hire a HC who wants Sam Darnold as their starting QB we are in big trouble.

Here is how. What if its Daboll, who has watched him in the same division for 3 yrs, and probably has a book on him, good or bad. Also, Josh allen and Sam are good friends, maybe he gets some additional feedback there, as to how Sam was coached, etc. That said, if its me, i am drafting Fields.
