What is the "Darnold is a nice guy" stuff in every post?  95% of qbs in this league are really nice guys.

Its a really weird thing jet fans have attached to Darnold like it makes him different then every other qb in this league

Thank you!  I really thought this was the generation of younger fans.  I see this everywhere as if they actually KNOW the guy.  When did this become part of the lexicon of sports? I don't care if he is the nicest guy in the world.  If you suck at football.. bye.  Can care less about you as a person, cuz guess what? I don't know you.. probably never will.  But I know you are a player on my team, and you have a job to do - if you can't do your job.. bye.  This good guy sh*t is so stupid.

I literally can care less if Sam is a broke hobo on the streets in a few years.  He is not a friend or family - oh well.

I might have been a little strong here.

  2. Some on this board: "JD is the dumbest GM - he is awful at making draft picks"

Same people on this board: "We should have lost to get a higher draft pick for JD to make an awful pick with"

Ugh.  People on here are exhausting.

While I agree with what you're saying about the TN game and he may have been right...

That's not really the point - Bart was angry...not a single compliment - he came out aggressively upset with his performance...you would have thought he threw 4 int's and lost the game by 30 if you listened to the way he described his performance.

Kids 4th game, he balled out and made some impressive plays to put the team on his back to win the game.

Commenting on how he needs to play like a more traditional QB if he wants to be a true FQB would be very fair...he did run around then and took far too many chances - always looking for the big play....

You can acknowledge how impressive he performed (certainly in comparison to the first three weeks) acknowledge that you saw the "special" stuff he was touted as having - and then discuss some of the flaws of that performance...I would have had no problem at all with that - but that's not what happened.

Bart Scott is very biased against Wilson and it's obvious

    Fair point.

Even after the Tenn. game - his reaction to that game post game - was to attack Wilson and say he was terrible.  Not a single complementary comment in the post game - just attacks.  Go watch it.

Originally I was with you on this comment.  But that week I got to listen to Bart clarify what he was saying about the Tenn game.  His main gripe was ALL the plays that ZW made in that game were "off script" plays.  Yes, they look great on ESPN when they work.. but you cant be an NFL QB ONLY making off script plays.  You have to go through your reads and progressions.  Stay in the pocket.  Blah blah.

Since his clarification that is literally ONE of the many things I pay attention to with ZW.  How fast does he bail out of the pocket.  Did he complete his reads? Did he give up too quick? etc..

ZW has gotten better with being a little more decisive but he has a bad habit of looking down one receiver - and if thats not there - he bails and runs around.  I dont see the head turning for progressions all the time.

With that said, I think Bart was right that day about Tenn.

  5. Damn people have short memories. When ZW was injured all I read was how improved the O-Line looked for 4 games.  Hell, even MLF was calling great games because... you know... hE WEnT uP TO tHe BoOtH... Or maybe our rookie QB is not doing the things that need to get done to create a consistent offense. Now, multiple things can be happening at once:

Do I think our line is ranked number 12?  Hmm... not really.. but definitely in the top 20.  No where near the bottom.  Do I think they screw up a block here or there? yes. Did it hurt not having Fant? Yes.

Does ZW make all the adjustments at the line BEFORE the snap? probably not.  He is too young to pick up all the nuances of what the defense is going to throw at him.  Is he alerting the linemen to change up the blocking scheme because he sees the blitz?  hopefully.. but not guaranteed.

Does ZW take waaaaaay to many steps dropping back?  Hell yes.  Does ZW process reads quick? Not yet.

So add all that together against the number 1 blitz team in the game.. you get what you have yesterday.

Is that 100% the fault of the O-Line?  Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllll no.

  6. Radio just bought up a good point.. its a good day for Jets fans!  Only because we didnt hire him.  Could you imagine.. Gase and then Meyer back to back? I know we're the laughing stock of the NFL.. but that would have put us on another level.

On those bounce throws it seemed as if he’s fighting himself between really winging it and tossing it and what happens is this awkward compromised result where he’s way overthinking the throw and he’s not throwing naturally.  I do think that will resolve itself over time.  At least he’s not forcing all those throws downfield and having multiple ints that just ruin careers.  Just not doing that is a plus.

He is aiming, rather than throwing.  They say that about pitchers in baseball when things are going bad.  You just do nothing that is natural.  You aim it to go somewhere and it contributes to poor throws.  99% of Zachs problems lie between his ears... thats not a good sign.

  8. Literally every throw, you can see him think out loud.  He is terrified to throw an INT.  Terrified. Even on plays like the Berrios screen, no defenders anywhere to make a pick.. but every throw is aimed like a dart.  He doesnt just throw... he aims.. and we all know how that turns out.

  9. This board August 31: I don't care if we win or lose.. I just want to see Zach make progress

This board currently: I don't care if he made progress - it means nothing - Geno had a perfect passer rating once.  Sam... oh Sam... oh Sam... he showed flashes.

Seriously.  The collective IQ on this board has to be slightly below a functioning moron.

Not quite sure he definitely is gone if Zak become a miss if he shows he has built the whole rest of the team and gets some QB to run the team and start getting wins more consistently. Everyone knows picking QBs in the draft has very high risk potential.

I agree 100%.  If you can get all the other holes filled (or most of them) and the team is competing and showing wins... yeah, he might not be soley tied to Zach (if it doesnt work out).

Yes you are correct.  The Jets are going to let Zach Wilson play like he has this year for the next 25 games and give no thought to drafting a QB in 2022....he get at least 50 games to figure out how to connect on a 5 yard swing pass. 23 i mean. lol

Holy crap.. where do you people come from? This might be the most uniformed take I have ever seen.  So the Jets will give millions and millions to their number 2 pick, and after 6 games decide.. they have seen enough?  after 6 games?  JD has plenty more positions to draft with the capital he has and the holes left to fill.

  12. People have no clue how the NFL is constructed. The reason for drafting a rookie QB is that they don’t eat cap space.. until their 4th/5th year. The idea is draft a QB who is good, have the money to build around them, and you can afford to make your team better. When year 4/5 comes along you should know what you have. If you don’t, the answer is simple.. get rid of him because he is only gonna bury you in cap hell.. see Sam Darnold. But you need those first 3 years to make an accurate evaluation.  Sitting him or letting Mike White play does nothing for this structure.

  13. His entire problem is inside his head.  100%.  Prime example was when he ran backwards into the end zone... not that play but the one which preceded it.  If you remember, he threw a side arm pass that was almost intercepted.. the next play was the run through the end zone.  Zach, according to Zach, is only as good as the previous play.  So once you see on play go bad, expect a 3 and out - he just doesnt seem to recover mentally.

This patience word keeps getting thrown around. How much patience do you expect us to have? Most successful regimes show significant progress in their first year btw. This one actually went backwards. Which is impressive because there was very little room to move backwards.

Needed to quote this.. I get the anger/frustration, believe me - 40 year fan.  But I always get a chuckle when I see people say "I am done being patient".. what can YOU really do?? Literally nothing.  You can stop watching - the Jets will still make money.  You can not buy merchandise - the Jets will still make money.  You can not go to the games - the Jets will still make money.  We fans think we have all this power.  We do - when literally ALL OF US come together and stop all the above.  But you know that will never happen.  NEVER EVER.  It is a sh*t sandwich but you literally have no choice but to eat it.  There is nothing you or me or anyone can do.  So how much, or how little patience you have, is inconsequential.

I love how “in the booth” has become “needz weaponz”.

Zach ignoring wide-open receivers because he wants to fire off a bomb on every play has nothing to do with where LaFleur sits.

Amen.  My god Jet fans have to be the dumbest fanbase out there.  How can people seriously think that because MLF is in the booth that the OLine has gotten better, receivers are getting open and the running game has improved.  It all comes back to ONE thing.. QB.  Period.  If you have a competent QB, who can make proper reads, guess what?  You hit the Wide Receivers when they are open (not because you missed the window).  You get the ball out quicker (OLine looks more competent) and, of course, the defense now has to play against the pass which opens up the running game.  This isnt a very difficult concept.  But yeah... "in the booth" is what did this.  Jesus Christ.

  16. I love these youngsters who played a few seasons on Madden and have no concept that the Jets existed long before their mom was giving a handjob to their dad in a parking lot.  Overreaction?? really?? how long is enough? I have been a fan since 1980.  Thats 41 years! While enjoyed a few highs.. I have suffered through quite a bit of lows.  These last years might have been the worst. Patience? Yeah I have that.  But that doesnt mean you cannot criticize the product they are pedaling out on the field.  It is poor, and no, it is not getting better or showing any progress.  So take the sanctimonious "they are young be patient" crap and shove it.

  17. I have said for years.. the NFL has done the ONE thing you can NEVER EVER do.  Take the joy and excitement out of a scoring play.  I remember back in the 80's.. the deep ball to Toon/Walker.. 80 yard bomb.. crowd gets on their feet... roar starts to grow.. then BAM.. caught and  in the end zone. Stadium goes wild.

Nowadays... 80 yard bomb.. crowd gets to their feet.. roar starts to grow... BAM... caught and in the end zone.. and everyone has to wait another minute BEFORE you can celebrate to see if:

    A) What is that flag for?

    B ) Is there a flag?

Sucks the enjoyment and excitement right out of the building.

Gonna be honest. Football is my least favorite sport to go to live. Besides the fact that it’s a better view on TV, the whole atmosphere at football games just aren’t for me. I know it’s the minority but to me, more so then any other sport, a lot of people are just there  to get sh*t faced and get away from there wives. It’s just not that enjoyable for me, when I’m really interested in the game. Not the booze and food. I do go probably once twice a year but the drunks and the just down right terrible commute to get out of there, really dampen my experience going live

I couldnt agree more.  I literally HATE going to a football game.  I always thought it was because football is a game where I need to see and watch EVERY game.  So when the Jets are on.. I am on Red Zone in commercials.  No other sport does that for me.  When I go to a game.. I am locked in to just this one game.   By the time I get home.. the 4 o clock games are halfway over.  Ruins the day.  And yes, the drunks at the game just dont do it for me either.
