  1. I'm just sick of people blaming the Jets for winning the game. The Rams were VASTLY superior - winning shouldn't have even been a possibility regardless of how hard we tried . . .
  2. Rumor has it that wasn't the reason . . .
  3. A fastball hitter would rather have one shot at a fastball than three shots at a curveball. Sure he's gonna miss the fastball at times, but he's still giving himself the best shot at success. If JD was "that sure" about AVT, then he HAS to do it, regardless of how things ultimately pan out . . .
  4. which is why we got him to play LG (LT in a pinch) . . .
  5. I openly admit the recent state of Jetdom has led me to not pay as much attention to football in general, but listening to you guys talk I'm embarrassed to say I never even heard of the guy . . .
  6. And since it's "voluntary" they don't need a reason to not show up. Using an issue that has been a legitimate problem for many people and pretending it's a problem for you just to "force the owner's hand" is not a good look at all . . .
  7. After a while you start running out of names . . .
  8. True, buy let's not forget about hackenburg, Smith, petty, Morgan (tbd) over that same time span. You use the higher pick to supposedly get the "more sure thing", which is still FAR from it! I'm in the trade down camp, but will trust their scouting with whoever we ultimately get . . .
  9. I'm too lazy to make one but the list of QBs I'm glad we didn't draft is WAY longer than the one of those I wish we did. And the further down the draft you gp the longer the list gets. I'm not wasting the 2 on a crapshoot. They either LOVE a guy or we go a different direction (no matter what hindsight later shows us) . . .
  10. Really? No love for LT? I don't care we got him "past his prime" I still felt he could impact the game more than most of the others we've run out there . . .
  11. They were smart to do it in foresight too . . .
  12. It's clear you're getting a little annoyed at this back and forth, but from an outsider's point of view you're BOTH providing food for thought (even though it's two completely different meals), so thanks . . .
  13. But what if he's OK with NYJ or Miami, and Miami makes a better offer. Is that really where you set your limit? Of course we don't WANT to give up more than necessary, but I think we have to be willing to go further if necessary . . .
  14. Before you jump off a cliff, just know some of us understand what you're trying to say. Not that we SHOULD do what you proposed, but even such a "worst case scenario" could result in a respectable team with potential near-term success. I agree on both counts (that your hypothetical isn't ideal/realistic, but also isn't as "Rome is burning" as some make it out to be). If/when DW gets traded, then we'll see where the bar was set, and argue whether the Jets should/shouldn't have thrown their hat in the ring (assuming they don't make the winning bid). Until then, I'd say this was a
  15. But shouldn't he be just as worried that Adam's gets it and is never the same?
  16. Dude you can't be this ignorant. I'd rather just think you're heartless, which means the following will have no impact on you, but I'll post it anyway: There has been a rise in the number of minors contacting the National Sexual Assault Hotline to report abuse. That's according to RAINN, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, which runs the hotline. By the end of March, with much of the country under lockdown, there was a 22% increase in monthly calls from people younger than 18, and half of all incoming contacts were from minors. That's a first in RAINN's history, Camille
  17. WOW -- nice to know all the suffering out there is just "peripheral consequences" to you. I mean hey, as long as you didn't lose your job, and your wife/kids aren't the ones getting beat up, and you don't know anyone (to your knowledge) attempting suicide, we might as well grab the chips and go back to the TV, amirite?
  18. Let's play a game. We'll look at your post and see how many words describe what you wrote: deflection -- yup, who cares if others are suffering, THIS IS A COVID ARGEMENT GOSH DARN IT!!! false choice -- definitely, I mean how could millions suffering hold a candle to thousands dying? opinion -- textbook definition ignores reality -- says the person who has ZERO proof that all these COVID deaths were poor unaccountable souls who did everything they could to fight the disease but just couldn't overcome those meanies who didn't wear a mask at Spring Break crux of the pro
  19. Your assumption that "excess deaths = COVID deaths" is just that -- an assumption. You don't think there was more mental stress the past few months than before? Less availability to get to the doctor? Less help for the most needy? Our entire world is different now than the past few years, why would a direct comparison be appropriate? Add that to the fact that I've had multiple doctors tell me "if they had COVID in their system, they're listed as a COVID death" and I guess I just can't buy the idea that 200,000 people slipped through the cracks. In regards to the virus "raging uncheck
  20. Thank you for the civilized discussion. I'm not sure where you live, but I'm in NJ and things are definitely NOT up and running. Our daily death toll can be counted on our fingers, but we're still acting like we're one step away from distaster. Our leaders are consciously choosing to hurt the masses, then saying "but we have no choice!" I (and many others) do not believe that is the case. I'm all for wearing masks, sanitizing etc. I just believe opening up more of the country would be a MAJOR blessing to many people, while not posing a serious threat to those who take proper precaut
  21. You can disagree with all you want -- just know you're disagreeing with facts: Increase in child abuse https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/28/847251985/child-sexual-abuse-reports-are-on-the-rise-amid-lockdown-orders Increase in Suicides https://www.rollcall.com/2020/08/05/pandemics-effect-on-already-rising-suicide-rates-heightens-worry/ Increase in mental health issues https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-covid-19/issue-brief/the-implications-of-covid-19-for-mental-health-and-substance-use/ Increase in homelessness https://www.me
  22. So you're OK with women and children getting physically and sexually abused? With people attempting/committing suicide at alarming rates? With people losing their jobs, businesses, marriages and homes? With mental depression exploding all around us? With the most needy among us having access to LESS resources when they need them MOST? Don't bother answering -- I'm sure you're NOT "ok" with that. Who would be? But we know for a fact that these are but a few of the consequences of the path our leaders have chosen. What started out as "flatten the curve" has turned into "eliminate the
  23. Yet we should accept lost jobs, lost businesses, divorce, suicide, abused children, mental disorders and homelessness? No offense, but it's very insensitive to tell a guy to "get tough and adapt" when he doesn't know how he's going to feed his three children or keep a roof over their head. And if there's any lying over COVID deaths, it's because they are being OVERSTATED. People are dying of things like colon cancer (and even suicide) and counted as COVID deaths because it was technically in their system. They openly admit they are counting deaths WITH covid, not just deaths FROM cov
  24. Please explain? We've had this virus here for 6+ months, and to our knowledge < .02 of the population got infected (at least to the point of getting sick enough to be recorded). So is the virus nowhere near as contagious as they say? Or did people do a good job of keeping it in check?
  25. And they can't if they don't play football?
