  1. And half the covid deaths happened to people in nursing homes who could care less if i go to a football game. Pot / kettle?
  2. Doesn't change the fact that you (and others) have chosen to emphasize the POTENTIAL of one virus over the REALITY of another. If you truly don't want to see people die, then shouldn't we ALWAYS wear masks, socially distance, etc, even when covid is "over"? Shouldn't we outlaw smoking, drinking, and fast food, since those are the top 3 preventable deaths? How many covid deaths wouldn't have occurred in the first place if the person didn't also have diabetes, heart disease, etc? I know I'm rambling, and believe it or not I do see your point. My original post was simply a reminder that we should be thankful the mortality numbers aren't like other diseases out there (that already have vaccines, preventative measures, etc and STILL kill millions). I believe if people take proper precautions your worst-case scenario won't play out. I also realize many will choose not to take those steps, but that's where personal responsibility has to make a return to society . . .
  3. You didn't hear? Deaths don't count anymore unless they have Covid-19 listed as the cause . . .
  4. So you're OK with 1.5 million people dying, just as long as they die at a considerate pace. Gotcha . . .
  5. Compared to a REAL "killer", yes we should be thankful https://www.tballiance.org/why-new-tb-drugs/global-pandemic#:~:text=It is the leading infectious,TB and 1.5 million died.
  6. More like another opportunity to show the nonsense we're currently subject to . . .
  7. Personally I think the govt should outlaw smoking, drinking, and fast food. All three kill 100,000+ Americans each year and since personal responsibility doesn't exist anymore I think the govt is gonna have to come to our rescue (again) . . .
  8. Are you insane? Hed only have a 99.85% chance of survival!
  9. If the team isn't any good, ALL we'll be thinking about is our future picks . . .
  10. You're right -- you posted that right after the "anti-kneeler" post, and I made a connection I shouldn't have. Definitely a sign I need to step away for awhile. Again, my apologies . . .
  11. It seems you (and others) are telling that poster shouldn't feel the way he (and others) do. I have never said people can't kneel, but I do get annoyed when people tell me "it shouldn't bother me". I find it HIGHLY offensive, and shouldn't have to defend that feeling. I apologize if I misinterpreted your post -- I've read enough of yours to know you're level-headed. It just seems we're being told more and more how we should view/feel a certain situation, and that's not what I want to see in a free country . . .
  12. You're right -- I made the assumption they are fighting for ALL our freedoms. If you disagree, then enlighten me on the truth. If you're saying our OPINION holds no merit if we haven't fought for the country, then you better be saying that about kneelers as well . . .
  13. So as a veteran, you fought for an environment where one side can "protest" and the other cannot? Is there anything in the post you quoted that was more than one man's opinion? One you apparently feel he has no right to hold? Thanks for what you did for this country -- it just would have been nice if you had done it for all of us . . .
  14. Why do you (and others) get to define what the flag is? Why do you think they picked the flag in the first place, if it wasn't to "get people's attention"? Kneelers don't have any more "right" to express their opinion than anti-kneelers do. THAT'S what the founders would support, and what our soldiers are fighting for . . .
  15. Dude, didn't you get the memo? You're not allowed to be offended by anyone disrespecting the flag. They said they're not disrespecting it, and that's all that matters -- your opinions/feelings have no bearing. Try to keep up . . .
  16. Don't bother dude -- he's already made it clear we're playing "his game". IOW, agree with him or accept the fact you're a racist . . .
  17. Did it occur to you that I assumed the "race" angle because of your overwhelming number of posts on the subject, and not because I was trying to interject it into the discussion? True, it was my fault for making that assumption, but you just as equally assumed I had a racist angle when I truly didn't. As an educator, I try to teach my students to NOT always assume everything is "racist", because that's pretty much what they're being taught by many of my colleagues and it takes away from the true meaning/value of the word. However, it looks like I fell into the same trap I warn them about, and for that I apologize . . .
  18. To be honest I apologize if that's not what you meant -- that's certainly how I took it. Of course, you're also making assumptions about someone who has devoted the last 26 years of his life educating inner-city kids, but I know that doesn't fit in your convenient agenda, so we'll let that slide . . .
  19. I brought up race because you've made your stance crystal clear throughout this site -- it wasn't exactly a huge leap. But that's OK, you just keep accusing people of being part of the KKK while you pout in the corner wondering why no one wants to listen to you . . .
  20. LOL perfect response. Someone disagrees with you, MUST be racist, amirite? Maybe you could enlighten me as to why you feel he's being "blackballed"? Or is it just easier to cast HORRIBLY DISGUSTING dispersions at someone, knowing you'll get away with it because of the wonderful double standard we're currently living with?
  21. This is a good take. 99.9% of players who knelt are still in the NFL, regardless of color, position, or salary. Perhaps there's more to this Kap thing than the color of his skin? Tough one, no doubt . . .
  22. I know you posted links, but I don't feel any of them came close to explaining how someone wearing a mask and gloves at all times can still be infected by someone who isn't. I'm not saying it's impossible, I simply believe if those who need to practice extra precautions do, this won't get out of hand like so many fear it will. When people hear elite human specimens like NFL players ""test positive", and that leads them to believe "there's no way we can have a season", I think emotions are overtaking logic. But what do I know, I'm a Jets fan . . .
  23. Just be glad this thread is the most we've seen the guy in years . . .
  24. True. One should wear a condom, the other should wear a mask . . .
