Davante Adams pushed a cameraman down after the game.
OCCH23 replied to Hal N of Provo's topic in NY Jets Forum
Actually it wasn't, and I apologize if it was taken that way. It was intended to be an end to a discussion that served little to no purpose, so I was walking away no harm done . . . -

Legally? NOTHING. That's my point. It's ridiculous (IMO) that this has become a legal issue (WAY before anyone talked about him potentially having a concussion). The league should fine/suspend him, and he should offer some kind of recompense to show he's truly sorry. But have to report to a judge for pushing someone? With no prior intent or malice? And no history (to my knowledge) to imply he's a danger to society? It's ridiculous and sad, and the fact that you guys see no problem with it makes it that much sadder. Meanwhile, we have criminals walking the streets of NYC because "there's already too much of a strain on the court system)🤔 -

"Paying a lot of money" and "being convicted of a crime" are two different outcomes to me, but I guess the point is moot . . . -

I completely understand what you're saying. It just bothers me that "shoving someone to the ground" and "misdemeanor assault" have become synonymous, but that's the world we live in . . . -

I guess I grew up in a different world. Whole lot of shoving, not much police action. (Again, if he's hurt that's a different story, but I don't see many people here making that distinction . . .) -

Sorry -- I thought I was entitled to my opinion. Can I sue you for attacking me in such a hostile and unwarranted manner? (I could really use the money . . .) -
Let's hope you're right. There's only two reasons I can think of for why QBs throw a lot: 1) You don't have a good running game (we do) 2) You're trailing most of the game If ZW doesn't throw a lot, I have to imagine that will be a good thing for the team. If he throws a lot but doesn't produce, then we have a problem on our hands . . .

OK so you're agreeing that pushing someone doesn't need to equate with misdemeanor assault, it's more just a way for the cameraman to show how offended he was that there was no immediate apology? That's where we agree to disagree. While I understand the cameraman has the "right" to press charges, I don't think that's the next rational step in the process, and therefore feel the cameraman is showing even less "humanity" than Adams did when he shoved him. (Disclaimer -- if the cameraman truly is hurt then I agree more extreme measures may be called for . . .) -

Well that sailed right over your head. Have a great day . . . -

That isn't what I was doing. Why do you think you can tell me what I was doing? -

LOL so you're ok with someone being charged with assault after stating it clearly wasn't assault. Now that I know you're not interested in a rational discussion it makes it much easier for me to walk away. . . -

He was charged with misdemeanor assault, so I guess you have the same problem with it as I do . . . -

You're probably right. But when you say a civilized society needs rules, but then say you don't care if he actually pays the price for that breaking that rule, I'm not sure how else I was supposed to take it. To me the only issue is calling it a crime. A poster gave the example that pushing a secretary would get him fired, but didn't mention anything about getting arrested. That's where I draw the line -- Adams should be fined/suspended by his employer, but involving law enforcement is WAY overboard IMO, whether he actually ends up being convicted on it or not . . . -

This honestly confuses me (as you're not the only one to say it). So is the act what you believe he should be punished for, or his response to the act? Is he being charged with a crime because he pushed someone, or because he didn't give a good enough apology for pushing someone? I have no doubt this sounds like a sarcastic post, but I'm truly asking -- what did Adams do that "deserves" law enforcement getting involved? -
Yeah but none of those wins count, remember?

Neither of which involve the American justice system, so I agree completely . . . -

So you're adamant that the law be enforced, but could care less if the consequence is? I guess you're a fan of the "no cash bail" where people commit a crime, get "arrested", and then are out the next day to commit the same crime all over again? I never said there shouldn't be any repercussions. I believe it's important for the league to fine/suspend Adams as a deterrent to future altercations. But I find it hard to believe if you pushed someone in a moment of anger that you'd think it was "only fair" to have to stand before a judge and potentially be found guilty of criminal activity . . . -

I downvoted you, but still respect your right to your opinion. I'm just scared to death that pushing someone to the ground (with NO additional actions) is considered worthy of spending the rest of your life with a criminal record . . . -

And that's what's wrong with society. I believe the league needs to suspend/fine Adams as a precedent against future altercations, but to potentially have a criminal record because you pushed someone during a moment of frustration? And to have people say that's "perfectly within the victim's rights"? And the scariest part is it will only get worse from here . . . -
No, not really. Facing Jackson and Burrow is not nearly the same as facing the Jones brothers (Mac and Daniel), even though both instances would be facing "starting QBs". And keeping track of Hill/Waddle is tougher against ANY QB than sticking with two mediocre WRs/starting QB (Chicago, Jax, etc) Is it a small sample size? Of course. But does that sample size include two of the top end QBs in the league? Neither of which chose to pick on the rookie? Yes, and therefore I'd say his short-term results hold more value than you're choosing to give them . . .
-
Which one are you counting as a starter - Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow?

Now THAT would be the ultimate in SOJF whining . . .🤣 -
Too bad they don't count, since the other teams were playing with backup QBs . . .
