  1. Come on all ye brave and opinionated Jet Fans, and put you reputation where your mouth is! :D:D

Put down, for all to see, YOUR prediction of rushing production in 2005 between OUR Starter (Mr. HOF'er Curtis Martin) and the RAIDERS Starter (Mr. Out-of-the-Shadow Lamont Jordan).

    Carries/Yards/TD's

Make your guess, your prediction. If nothing else, this should be pretty fun to look at in a year or so.....

    Martin 300/1300/6

    Jordan 250/1100/6

  2. Attitude?

Hell, I would LOVE to play for the Jets! I'd give them the "Super-Fan Discount" too! I'm as acheap as they come, 6'5" and 400 pounds of RT Chubbiness.

And I WANT TO BE THERE, unlike that "scrub" McKenzie....

Attitude is important. Talent is more important. Blaylock is no Lamont Jordan.

Fisherman, What makes you think Lamont is better than Blaylock over a full season? You can't answer it because no one knows. All we do know is that Lamonts top load carry wise was 18 which came once last year and Blaylock topped that 3 times including a 33 carry game. Also there is this idea that the chiefs o-line is the reason for his stats. Well the Jets o-line isn't that bad either and I can't wait to see the speedy Blaylock carry it on a sweep or on a screen behind Mawae and Kendall pulling to the outside. I'm not going to guarente Blaylock will be better because it is premature for that just like it is premature to guarentee Lamont is better.

  3. Blaylock is a good player...But he's nothing like Jordan--he's small and is a better receiver than runner.

I gotta disagree Riggo. Blaylock is stronger than people are giving him credit for. You are right that he is not a tank but he is strong enough, faster and a better reciever out of the backfield.

  4. My only question on Hovan is how he would fit into the Jets D Line. Maybe Bit can better answer this but I believe Hovan is more of a 3 technique, one gap D Tackle. Idk how he would fit next to D Rob.

  5. Do we all really think that Jordan will be the #1 RB, clear and deliniated, with the Raiders??

In recent years, they have been famous for running two or three guys out there, with no clear cut #1.

And, odd as it is, I heard Sean Salibury-Steak say that the Raiders were moving to aquire Rickey Williams (who has stated he will only return to the NFL as a Raider) too.

It's still possible, albeit unlikley, that poor old Lamont could wind up the clear cut, no question NUMBER TWO in Oakland too.

Norv Turner has historically been a one back coach. He has had a one thousand yard back all but 2 season of his NFL coaching career. He is also credited with the developement of E Smith, L Tomlinson, S Davis, and R Williams. All 1000 yards backs while he was there. I think it is safe to say Jordan will carry it 350+ as long as he stays healthy.

  6. While I tend to agree Blaylock is good, he is far from a punishing runner.

His weight on bit's draft review is closer to his weight then the one on ESPN.

    :lol::lol:

He is the same height and weight as Holmes. While I'm not comparing him to Holmes because and it is premature for that. His style is the same. He runs low and drives blockers. Trust me he is a punishing runner. He also has nice speed. He will be a pleasant suprise for Jet fans who are not that familiar with him.

  7. Damn, I didn't even see this post until now. Thanks rsh and rigs!

That slow 40 time KILLS Rolle, IMO. The "Ty Law" rules make it so a big, physical CB ain't worth jack anymore. IMO, he could drop to the high teens now. I'd still love to have him, but the CB's you draft now have to be those 5'11" burner guys.

    Great point TS

I still would love for the Jets to get him though.

  8. No one wants him to over-react. We just want him to REACT.

Losing out on Pat Williams because he was focused on Fergy is ridiculous. We let a CHEAPER, BETTER player slip through the cracks while Bradway tried to hammer out a deal with Ferguson. There is no excuse for that. Bradway was asleep at the wheel and he needs to wake up SOON.

By the time I have the first beer in me tomorrow night, Fred Smoot or that fat bastard from Detroit had better be a Jet.

He definitly made a huge mistake on Pat Williams just like he did on A Winfield last year imo. But lets wait and see when the whole thing is complete before we kill him. Don't get me wrong though the Pat Williams thing was a disgrace.

  9. Which is a good principle, and Barton and Kendall were both good signs in that direction.

OTOH the Pennington extension (though it may yet prove worthwhile) and the Barrett contract were headscratchers.

I still say one of the big FA CBs (it may be down to Lucas and Smoot, there's some word Baxter's close to re-signing in Baltimore) and some mid and lower tier guys properly selected would be the best course fo you guys.

and there may be some worthwhile FAs after June 1st.

RS, what's your opinion on Andre Dyson or Ken Lucas? Neither have gotten much attention and may come at a reasonable rate.
