  1. Nice. Haven't noticed though I admit the games don't have my undivided attention this year. Don't know about others but I'm not upset. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app

  3. Chiefs sign Revis

Who knows? Maybe he only wanted to play 1/4 of the season plus wanted to make sure he goes to a contender. Maybe he was hoping for more CB injuries to drive up his price? Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  4. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

Why does that surprise you? Most fans wants are illogical and fueled more by passion than sense. Also I don't understand how you think McDermott showed indecision. If he benched Peterman after throwing 1 or 2 interceptions I would agree with you. Throwing 5 picks in a half? Need to get the kids out of there. That's making a decision based on evidence not on "I drafted this QB in the 2nd round so let's give him all the 1st team snaps in the preseason." Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  5. Russell Wilson

Which speaks to the other issue with the Jets which is no consistency in the FO or coaching staff. It's hard to consistently draft and develop good players who fit the needs of the Head Coach and system when you change GM's and Coaching staff every three years. This also speaks to the point of losing Vilma, Abraham and a couple others since it can be necessary to get rid of good players if they don't fit into the new coaching staff's schemes.
  6. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

This boils down to the crux of the argument. You believe and trust in their ability to make that decision (largely behind the scenes) while other posters don't. That is really the difference here. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app

  8. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

It's definitely embarrassing for the coaching staff for him to play the way he did. They deserve (as would Bowles) to be criticized for the move. However, you have to realize that we are now analyzing the decision with the benefit of hindsight no? You are reacting to posts made earlier in the week before it was known how he would play. I can't speak for other posters but I was under the assumption that the decision to start him was made based off of his performance in practice and/or the preseason. If that wasn't the case (or as another poster stated they were trying to punish Taylor in some way, which I doubt but whatever) than it was an especially dumb decision. Pac is a poster who is also posting in this very thread. I assumed you followed along the discussion. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  9. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

Totally agree about possibly not seeing him again this year. He showed he is not ready any time soon. With that said, I don't think this one start is a factor next season if he plays lights out with the first team in the preseason. Just saying it is wayyy to early to start calling out posters for saying they liked him the best out of the QBs last year. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  10. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

So it's wrong to think a QB is a good prospect because he bombed in his first live action? Man those scouts must have had serious egg on their face when Peyton threw 3 INTs in his first start lol. Obviously Peterman is not Manning but prognosticating a man's entire career off of one start is a special kind of stupid. It's ridiculous the amount of posters who fall into this category. 11. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

Are you under the assumption that the staff made the change without taking any kind of practice play into consideration? That they just said "Hey, we know Peterman sucks ass but we're going to make a change for the hell of it!" Seems that you and Pac also know how a player will play before games so let me know who wins tomorrow night so I can lay down some serious cash on the line. Feel free to describe how this game was any different than the previous two when the coach didn't bench the "well-respected" starter. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  13. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

Does this not prove the point how hard it is to analyze the QB position solely on practice play? Isn't that the go to reason why the Jets aren't playing Petty? That they see them more than fans and likely have more info that we don't see? Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  14. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

The point was that Taylor wasn't playing well enough for the team to win games. They tried to see if Peterman could do that. Answer - he couldn't. Now they need to decide whether they stick with him (doubtful) or wait until eliminated to revisit the question. Better than waiting to see how Peterman plays against 3rd stringers in the 3rd PS game to see if he could play. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  15. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

Explain how the coach lost the team and locker room anymore than he had the last two weeks? The Bills accomplished what they needed to. They found out whether Peterman was ready to play and if he would give the offense and team the spark they needed to get into the playoffs. The answer to both of those questions was a resounding no but at least they know for sure. They can now play Tyrod until they are mathematically eliminated and then decide whether they want to go back to Peterman and give him another chance and experience for next year or not. 16. Mike Westhoff back in the NFL

Highly likely we repeat the same carousel we've been on as long as Woody owns this team.
  17. Mike Westhoff back in the NFL

Good move for him and the Saints. I still think he could be a good HC from the understanding he shows on SNY.
  18. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

Do you know that over the course of time, with new information you can change your perception of something? They kept Taylor because it was a new coaching staff who likely wanted to see how he would play in their system. They brought him back because they likely felt he was better than the other FA QB's available this offseason. They gave him 10 games to see if he could elevate his game to another level. He didn't do that so they are moving on to Peterman. I don't see how that is a hard concept to understand.
  19. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

There have been plenty of players that have started their career and had the injury-prone label on them only to turn it around and have successful career. If all 3 injuries were similar (especially if they were all throwing shoulder) you might have a point but luck plays a big factor in this as does experience (throwing the ball away quicker, moving away from fallen linemen, etc.)
  20. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

You already know Petty can't because when playing with our Band of Misfit toys last year he got injured because the worst starting Center in the league hiked the ball at the wrong time and he took one of the most devastating hits a QB could take and because in preseason he had his leg rolled up on him by a lineman and suffered a 3 week injury? This is the level of intelligence we are arguing with here.
  21. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

No the point is that the Bills are confident that after seeing Tyrod for 2 1/2 season that they know who he is and he won't win them a championship. The Jets after seeing McCown for 15 seasons should know who he is and that he won't bring them a championship. We can be 95% sure that Petty is not "the guy" but still want to see him in live game action to make sure since we can only base this on 4 games of experience.
  22. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

The New York Jets - where career backup QB's with 15 years of losing experience are anointed day 1 starters
  23. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

You realize that even if we draft a QB with the #1 pick next year we need a backup QB? Even if neither of these players are "the guy" we still need to see if they can be competent backups. Also, even if there is only a 0.001% chance that Petty or Hack turn into a starting QB, why are you so protective of McCown (a guy that is likely out of the league next year) to not take that chance?
  24. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

    1) Who here is saying that Giants fans should be happy? You make no sense. 2) You know what listening to the fans gets a franchise? GM/Coaches fired every year, 1st round draft picks cur from teams after one season if they aren't a Pro Bowler and Tim Tebow as your starting QB. Judging FO success based off of fan sentiment is one of the dumbest things you can do. Also btw, big picture (AKA long-term planning) is definitely guaranteed.
  25. Bills bench Tyrod Taylor

I agree about the fans... no so much about the reports. I remember training camp reports saying that Petty started off badly and had very few snaps with the starters and as TC progressed he kept stealing more and more starter snaps and really picked up his game right around the DET/Giants PS games: FLORHAM PARK — Bryce Petty is the forgotten man of One Jets Drive. He watches most team drills, cleans up the scraps of reps, and rarely makes much — if any — impact in practice. He's clearly behind Josh McCown and Christian Hackenberg in this wide-open quarterback competition, but hasn't really been given an opportunity to change that. Well, that was until Wednesday, when Petty put on a show. Receiving his most action in 11-on-11 drills to date, Petty completed 9 of 12 passes, highlighted by two long touchdowns to Robby Anderson and Frankie Hammond. He had command in the huddle, poise at the line, and made several impressive throws in addition to his scoring strikes. It was easily the best the third-year quarterback has looked in camp. * You would think that the CS would reward Petty after this performance since this is a QB competition right? Here is the next training camp report: It was a good day for the quarterbacks. Josh McCown and Christian Hackenberg each looked sharp. Bryce Petty didn't receive enough opportunities to make a difference one way or another. One thing to note here: For the second consecutive day, Hackenberg out-repped McCown (23-20). Much ado about nothing? Maybe, but worth noting. He did have less first-team reps Tuesday than he did Monday. * Here is the next day's report: Christian Hackenberg out-repped Josh McCown on Monday and Tuesday. That wasn't the case on Wednesday. McCown actually received a ton — mostly all — of the reps, including those with the first-team offense. Here's how it broke down: REP COUNTER (practice): Josh McCown: 37 Christian Hackenberg: 27 (6 first team) Bryce Petty: 13 REP COUNTER (camp) McCown: 316 Hackenberg: 285 Bryce Petty: 185 CUMULATIVE CAMP STATS Josh McCown 132 of 202 (65 percent) | 9 TDs | 4 INTs Christian Hackenberg 87 of 174 (50 percent) | 7 TDs | 5 INTs Bryce Petty 69 of 111 (62 percent) | 7 TDs | 4 INTs Petty delivered on the play of practice — and maybe of camp. On the first set of team drills, he threw a perfect deep ball down the right sideline to receiver Robby Anderson. Anderson reached out with one hand, pulled it in, then raced to the end zone. Granted, if this was a game, Anderson likely gets lit up by the safety. Still, good throw. Petty is clearly the No. 3 quarterback. He has virtually no shot — barring injury — of starting Week 1. He said he wants to make the most of his reps. He has, at times. That throw to Anderson was a good example.
